Back Pain From Overhead Lifting

It seems about 4-5 times a year I hurt my upper back. Between my spine and left shoulder blade I get a piercing pain that is very sharp. It is almost always caused by doing standing military press or some type of overhead movement.

It usually lasts 4-5 days and then goes away. It hurts to move my neck forward or back and side to side.

Any reccomendations on ways to strengthen this part of the back so it doesn’t happen any more?

Reduce load for oh movements. For every vertical pushing movement, perform 2 vertical pulling movements (chins, pull ups, lat pulldowns).

Look into scapulae stabilisation. Face Pulls are an excellent exercise.

Most important! See a good trainer who can assess you properly and give you the right program.
