Awkward/Embarrassing Problem: Mass

I started lifting to get bigger… and I think that I’ve gotten a bit too big for my taste. I don’t have very much fat on me at all, below 10%. I’ve ended up with too much muscle mass, though, and I want to lose some of it. I’m 5’8" 165 pounds btw. I want to lose muscle mass without losing strength, though. What should I do? Should I keep on using same weight and reps while doing lots of cardio and going in a caloric deficit?

Wow too much muscle. You’re definitely cursed. Can you post a pic showing this undesirable muscle mass?

D

puts on fire retardant suit

I don’t have any pics on me. I obviously want to be a bit smaller for cross country and tennis. And anyways, I know it’s hard to believe with you being a bodybuilder an all, but some guys don’t find it attractive to have 20 inch arms lol

Nice try, troll.

I have to ask: by what criteria did you determine that you have “too much muscle mass”?

If your dimensions are too big, then try dropping some of that 16.5 pounds of body fat. (To be honest, many people severely misjudge their BF%; in all likelihood, you have much more.) Losing some of that, especially since fat takes up more space than lean muscle, will reduce your dimensions.

But WHAT does “too much muscle” mean? At your height and weight, you aren’t “big” by any standards that are applied by people who care about muscle.

Details would be interesting.

5’8, 165. Thats not bad at all. Post some pics, so we can see if maybe there is uneveness.

Oh, heck. Let’s go for the gold:

Can you post a picture? Get a digital camera, have a friend take it (so your hand isn’t wavering), and make sure it’s in focus. Then the people whose opinion you are asking can tell you truly whether you have “too much muscle.”

(But I’m already gleaning disturbing data from the fact that this is your first post and your screen name is…that.)

A troll with 2 posts.

Please don’t feed the troll.

Come on guys, he just wants to be more “functional”. There is nothing worse than being too stong and having too much non-functional muscle when playing sports

I know how you feel, I had too much unfunctional hair on my head so I went to the barber and got a haircut.

so I guess along those lines you should just cut more.

Wait, you’re worried about what guys find attractive?

I was listed at 7.6% BF the last time I was tested. And there isn’t any visible fat on me. I have a six pack, bulging arms etc.

The point is that even if I’m not considered “big” I want to get slimmer.

My question is this- will I be able to drop 10 pounds of lean muscle mass without getting losing strength?

You have 20 inch arms @ 165. Whoa that’s fucking crazy, tell us your secret?

I have always wanted to be the first to say this…

TUBE STEAK BOOGIE!

This is the second thread I’ve read where some troll says they are too big. WTF? I must be doing something wrong, because I don’t have this problem, and I am bigger than this fool.

Slimmer? WTF! You should start smoking Vagina Slims.

Stop whacking off so much, then those 20" guns should shrink back down to a normal proportion for your height.

If you really do have 20" guns, stop being such a bench-and-curler.

This is obviously a joke and we should stop replying to this thread starting now, no one that weighs 165 and is as short as you are is too big.

Ok. Your not big. AT ALL! And though you may think that you need to lose weight you don’t. Whatever sport you are competing in, you will benefit from the additional muscle. Yes, your new body is going to be awkward for a while. It takes time to adapt. So, start training for that sport again and you will fill in gaps.

Look at the track people from the Olympics. With the exception of some of the half starved guys from 3rd world countries… most “AT LEAST” have some visible leg muscle. Also, nearly all high level athletes have some form of weightlifting in their routine.

Tennis- same story. Roddick -lifts weights, Fed - lifts weights, Williams sisters - weights…

The only thing that I can think of where muscle mass would hurt you competitively would be professional video game playing. Can’t leave halo 2 to go grab a protein shake and your arms are too heavy, they make your legs go to sleep from prolonged rest period there. Keep your gains, adapt, and you will find that you are better. Heck, some day you may even try to get to a whopping 180.

what a troll job
