Anyone attended a Starting Strength seminar?

There’s a squat and deadlift seminar coming up in Orlando, which is a relatively short drive for me. I’m tempted to pop down for it, but wondering whether the seminars are more beginner-oriented and/or thinly veiled attempts to convince you to invest in franchising. I love a lot of the principles of Starting Strength, and believe Practical Programming is a great start for anyone interested in lifting, but Rip’s insistence on low bar squatting seems pretty dogmatic. Elbow pain has forced me to switch to high bar, but I’m wondering whether they might be able to help me find a way to perform low bar more comfortably. I’d love to hear the input of anyone who’s attended a seminar, especially one in Orlando.

If it fits your budget, why not? Also check out Orlando Barbell (with Brian Schwab,) or the Orlando Golds Gym.

If you’re going to make the drive, after you lift, go to Wekiwa Springs to tan and swim or canoe.

Thanks for the rec. I’ve been to the Gold’s, but I haven’t visited Orlando BB. I think that’s Anthony Oliviera’s gym? Maybe I can squeeze in a Sunday session over there before leaving.

Rip being a little dogmatic is a understatement.

Nothing wrong with adjusting certain aspects such as bar placement based on certain issues. Obviously in your case elbow issues. Thats just my humble opinion .

I attended a squat and deadlift training in NYC. It was as advertised - dogmatic and heavily focused on the technique. I was considering pursuing a SSC certification at the time, so it was informative.

Definitely not selling a Franchise.

That was maybe eight years ago so things may have changed.

I hired a SSC coach on Long Island and there was way more value than the seminar - just my thoughts.
