Any Good Magazines?

It seems like any post I read that mentions any of the bodybuilding/strength magazines always trashes them. So I would like to know if there are any good ones out there. I will be flying next week and wouldn’t mind picking one or two up for my travels. Are there any geared more towards strength vs hypertrophy?

Thanks.

I’d stay away from 'em but if your really need some reading material, perhaps just stay away from the bodybuilding ones. The powerlifting mags are sure to be focused on strength rather than size. Keep in mind however, that nothing you read in a magazine is going to compare with the quality of information available on the internet. Its just not feasible.

Hell they can be entertaining during travel etc. Men Health aint bad usually some solid info on health etc. I wouldnt expect anything ground breaking in any of them

Muscular Development. Alot of pages, plenty of ads, and a few pages of very good stuff.

There are some good mags out there but its hard to compete with the all the info you can get online these day. This site being one example. The only subscriptions I have now are PL USA and MLLO.

Order some back issues of MILO before your trip. Its always a pretty good read, nice mix of training tips/routines, strongman/weightlifting coverage and history lessons of the strength sports. crossfit journal isn’t half bad either.

Well, I can’t exactly surf the net while in the air. But you did give me an idea. I may download a bunch of articles from this site to read on my laptop. I’m guessing I will need some kind of auto-downloader.

Has anyone done this before? Is it possible to just d/l the articles and not the forums or store?

i think you can just hit save as in the browser and it will store a copy of the web page on your hard drive.

copy the the txt versions into a word file & save it

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not. There is some very high quality info on the internet , but its overshadowed by bullshit.

evansmi: where the hell did I say theres NOT tons of bullshit on the internet? Oh yeah, I DIDNT! Good try though.

Good try at what, I asked you to clarify and you did… thanks???

people are getting paranoid with all the internet flames wars, That wasn’t what I was trying to do.

I agree with Phill. Men’s Health isn’t bad, and there is usually good health info in there.

Also, if it wasn’t for Men’s Health, I would have never heard of T-Nation, so it’s good for something.

Ok, I’ll check out Men’s Health. Thanks for the suggestions.

Also, I was referring to downloading many articles, possibly hundreds judging from the authors’ page. I’m not gonna bring up each one and hit save. The auto-downloader I tried last night is supposed to do that, but I haven’t yet figured out how to configure it to grab multiple levels. For instance, I clicked on Dave Barr’s page:

http://www.T-Nation.com/ALSAuthor.do?p=Dav%20Barr&pageNo=1

All it did was grab this page but none of the articles linked to it. I’m trying it with Offline Downloader in case anyone has experience with it.

EDIT: I grabbed SurfOffline, and it is working much better. Still have a couple issues to figure out but at least I’m getting articles now.
