Went for bike ride, it was dang hot. Didn’t carry enough water. My fat ass broke another spoke. It is a tourer, with 32 spoke wheels. 1/2 of the wheel was rebuilt with high strength spokes… Then front bearing failed. only ~1200 miles on it. Had to walk 3.6 miles.

What a bummer! It’s even worse when the type of fault means you can’t freewheel home.
Look on the brightside, at least it wasn’t raining!
Wow. A full wheel misload. That would never happen to someone my size. Be grateful you’re strong enough to make a mistake like that and still move the weight.
Sunday bike ride:
Old light bike, loved the light fast feel. Hate the ever present worry of when am I going to taco the rear wheel.
No speedo:
So maybe 7 miles slow, enjoyable, tottering, some serious hills. Love riding with Mary!
Today:
Maybe 5 miles. Used Camelback for water. Love Ice cold water on hot days.
Gotta get new wheelset built for someone “ample”… Next paycheck or three… seeking advice from bike stores, but this looks promising: http://www.superclydesdale.com/
Those wheels look like they’ll do the trick. Expensive though!
I didn’t realise there was a limit to the weight an average wheel could take. How much do you weigh?
Rode my ‘road’ bike for the first time today too. Been riding my hybrid all year. Couldn’t believe how fast it was. It freewheeled so much faster too. Couldn’t really test out my downhill speed because it was pretty windy today and it is not very stable in crosswinds. The brakes weren’t great though, I’ve been spoilt with the disc brakes on my hybrid.
And why do you need to put yourself under really high load for the next two weeks?
High load:
HRT doc doing test for test… Stress, physical and emotional drives test through the floor.
Since I’m usually under much more stress then summer and Doc is fan of REALLY long intervals between doses, the lower my test on the test the more likely he’ll give be better service… Not looking for more total, just same total amount 3x more frequent… The ups are ok, but the lows really suck.
I’m 270+, plus I run with about 20-30 in tools/parts… More if groceries or books…
Trouble seems the torque though, If I come out of saddle. I’ve always been a big ring torquer… Squats and dead’s have added to the amount of force I can generate. I ran for about 200 miles afraid to come out of saddle and trying to sit and spin… I threw caution to the wind and ping goes a spoke. Good DT Swiss spokes too…
Light bikes with good bearings feel SO good…
Wussed out.
