What’s up with your forearm?
I’m struggling with tendonitis in my entire right arm. Bicep, forearm. You name it. Sucks. Really limits the accessory work for me.
Crash damage…
I got put down in 2002 (Houston) when my last bike had less then 1000 miles on it. I stopped for a red light and car behind me didn’t.
Both tendons, both arms… Like tennis and golfer’s elbow, except it doesn’t stay away.
I wear compression straps on forearms which helps immensely…
I’ve been looking into active healing, but have to think about better search terms. I get 1000’s of hits for new age stuff… Only a couple actual hits, but nothing technical so far.
Have you tried fish oil?
Massive doses to be sure: 10-20 grams/day seems to keep the burning down…
I’m sure you can get away with lower dosage (body weight and all), or higher grade sources like Flameout ™…
You have to ramp up and it takes a week or more, but it also helps DOMS…
Are you right handed?

Yes I am.
I’m sure it’s all related to my shoulder. It gets angry easily and passes the buck on the pain and other issues, which are currently manifesting as tendonitis.
Sucks getting old.

Beats the alternative!

Nice DL PR. 550. Wow.
Hypertrophy-style training. You mean high reps? I am currently trying to figure out what to do program-wise for my bench after my upcoming meet. I’m considering Gillingham. But also toyed with the idea of doing 5/3/1 for bench since nothing else has worked.
Snap:
BB style work outs.
More then just sets/rep scheme, different splits and isolation exercises.
Just thinking you’ve been in that game a goodly amount of time, might be wise to give your body different stimulation for awhile…
Even if only upper body for a couple months to put some size on…

I tried looking up Gillingham didn’t find much. I’ll read anything you forward.
5x5 likes me…
I’m only lifting to lift, so no real goals. Not going to compete in anything. I just like it, especially the feeling after when I totally beat myself into the ground. So we have vastly different goals. The reason I mentioned hypertrophy/BB style is that many of the people writing articles here mention either pursuing BB then power lifting (or other way around) or both at the same time… Some discuss the carry over of one style to another and the benefits of switching up.
I’m not doing any “program”, just run a given weight awhile until it isn’t a challenge, test max, add plate. Maybe 5x3 for awhile if it feels heavy. If can’t get full 5x5 then as many reps in each set as possible until I get back to 5x5… rinse repeat.
I would prefer a volume approach, like German volume method: 10x10. But every time I try it either I just can’t recover or I get an injury.
I’ve recently stopped doing squats and deads on the same day twice a week, cause I was feeling sick like and not recovering. SO I figured I would push up the weight and lower volume as a test… I may adopt a pyramid scheme for lower body, especially when it will be the only lift that day.

I happen to think that this is one of the better methods of progression out there.
It works well for 8 sets of 3 too.

Pyramids work really well for me, i think because it is almost like a progressive warm up and with a history of back problems helps me see where the days limit might be.
Also i like 5X5 except sometimes if i am going well it becomes 5x6 or 6x6 and that is a good indication that i am ready to handle some more weight, equally it can end up as 5x not very many if it’s a new weight.
You gettin paid to pimp hammer strength
That’s a lot of volume. On the what kind of routine to do, I guess mines a pyramid. Actually its what my brothers taught me in the garage 45 years ago. lift this 8 times, add some weight, lift it as many times as you can, add weight at least 3 times. Rocket science.

Shoulder didn’t hurt much sleeping, nor upon waking… Make have lucked out.
Great to see others patterns…
I’m thinking I’m going to have to do something different for at least upper body pressing…
Also,
My son wants to put serious clean weight on after his cut. (Cut and bulk, both in service of his wrestling). He’ll have constraints with what is available as I can’t get him to the gym all that often. So restricted to body weight at his mom’s. DB’s and limited weights at home (bar plus 140 in plates)…
Definately gives me food for thought!
Thanks Guys!
New Wheels are on!
2 mile Sauna-like out there.
New wheels are straight and true.
Bearings so much better it is like a whole gear difference!

300lb weight limit! With bike and pack I’m a little over. Damn, I need to cut!

Thinking a lot about home workouts at the moment mainly to be able to cut down on ‘going to gym’ time. Having now played around with them a lot i am becoming a big fan of my kettlebells ( i have a 16 and a 28kg) a pull up bar over the back door, about to order an oly bar and hopefully later in the week will get the materials for a slosh pipe.
I may not be able to go ‘heavy’ at home but i am convinced i can put together a wicked conditioning programme.
Pimping the hammer strength. That’s funny.
Here’s a link to the Gillingham bench. Can’t for the life of me see how I’d make any gains on it. But you never know.
