I would like to apologize for my above rant regarding are local Youth football program. Not for what I said, but the few here that read my log and not my ranting.I would have posted this on my Facebook to vent. But since im a board member I have to be politacaly correct. So great that you’re helping your son learn how to lift. Also great that you shut him down when his form fails. I see father/son teams occasionally and really admire that.
He’s benching more than me! Well, I guess that’s not saying much. He’s quite the lightweight, right?
glad to see you guys working together I know he has been working for it a long time…

It hasent been a issue of him working for it. But hes going to learn to hush up aroungd Mama. he was telling her how he was lifting 155 with the trap bar. Mama was very displeased with me. Shes been brained washed by there doctor , with regards to any weight training at his age. As if a well governed and monitored strength program will have a negative impact on him. But she seems to over look the stress placed on him when hes tacling a kid who out weights him by 50 pounds at full speed on the Football field. I find that ironic.

Well my training schedula is realy off this week . I was going to squat tonight ,But forgot about a school function for the youngest. Guess ill be hitting it Friday. Well it will give me a little more time for my groin muscle to heal up some more.

Well im feeling that the idea of doing heavy pulls after squats might not be a good idea for me. As much as it sounds like a good idea . I already got a feeling that its not going to be optimal for me. On a positive not im on vacation for the nest 8 days ![]()
Ouchy !!! My groin is saying Hello!! This morning.

( Rant warning!!! Read at own risk !!)
Quick question? What the hell !!! Is up with people on these other forums? This may fall under the ctaagory of" whipping a dead hourse". Maybe it just me . But Damn!!! I cant get over the number of people who thinks there experts on training !! Lets be serious does a eighteen year old guy with less then a year under his belt have any buisness giving out advice to anyone??? I mean Ive been doing this on and of for a long time and Ill tell you what , I half way know what im doing ! But !! Im no "EXPERT" .For the record my idea of a expert is someone who may or may not have a formal education. One that at least someone who has done it.Lets be honest doesnt everyone want there kids high school Football coach to have at least spent some time in shoulder pads? Weve got people on other sights who have never set foot on a lifting platform or on stage . But yet they are giving out advice to others on how to prep for a meet or contest. Yet these guys want to get pissy if you point that out. I just find it funny we have all these guys talking the talk but they havent had the balls to walk the walk . I have a hell of alot more repect for someone who might only squat 95 lbs who has the balls to compete then someone that talks trash and doesnt !! Since when did having alot of knowledge trumps what one has achived in the weight room.(if you) understand what im getting. It seems that its like this with some of these guys. No ,ive never competed. No, I havent been doing this for very long and dont have any practicle experiance . No , My numbers arent that great. BUT!!! you should listen to what I say as gossple and not question me on anything or dissagre with what I say.
Is it just me or am I missing something here?
I support your rant 100%.
Here’s an example, it was on strongman forum, the guy said he couldn’t bench because it hurt his shoulders. I could sympathise as 20 yrs of training has given me shoulder issues. This is 1 “experts” reply:
I’ll be frank here. If benching hurts your shoulders, then your shoulders are weak. Drop the weight down and fix your grip, watch Tate’s “So you think you can bench” series, and do some bench presses. There’s no substitute, there’s no alternative. Yeah, it used to hurt my shoulders too, but I swallowed my pride and dropped the weight until it didn’t hurt, then worked my way back up. Saying that is like those posers who say they can’t squat because it hurts their knees. Go read “Starting Strength” by Mark Rippetoe and man the hell up.
I replied
Congratulations!! Thats the most stupid post Ive ever read on here. There is such a thing as wear and tear. There are people on here who have been benching for 20+ years and built up lots of scar tissue, worn down cartilage etc. So they should just “man the hell up” should they? Just out of interest how long have you been training and what are your medical qualifications to give such advice? So its all down to weak shoulders is it! LOL
He didn’t reply. Oh his training experience? 1 year!!! F***ing unbelievable!

Damn!!! I found the thread you mention. Yeah this is some of the crap that really gets under my skin .Like you mention this guy has only one year experiance and giving some macho Bullshit advice to a guy who might have a shoulder condition for what anyone might know( as you pointed out). This guy hasnt gotten past the shut your mouth and just listen stage. All this info out there people think ready stuff alone makes them qualify to advise other when there not even at the stage where they can train themslves. Im sorry but in my mind , reading alot of books and internet articles doesnt trump experiance but these guys seem to think so . Im sorry but just because someone reads a few books over car maintnance doesnt make one a mechanic.

( still ranting )
I ll be honest I try to avoid giving advice out. I may give my opinion on something .
I dont understand the ego gradification of trying to come across as a expert.( dont get me wrong im willing to help someone out if its going to help them and if they ask). but come on . You ll never see me giving another person advice how to bench in gear or how to do a proper “Snatch” ( The LIFT !!!you sick bastards!!!). Why ? Because ive never benched in a shirt and ive never been coached on how to do a snatch! If half the people on these forums where such experts why arent they making a living at it ? Like…Dave Tate for a example.
Rant done .
You guys are obviously unaware of the huge number of experts, record holders, genetically gifted athletes, and almost Mr O’s who’ve chosen this site as their avenue for educating the rest of us on proper technique, routine, diet, supplementation, sex, and just all around right thinking. This is evidenced by the massive amount of performance photos, results, and authentications presented. I rarely venture from this forum but I’ve learned some things that may help you “out there”.
Next time you go out, let us know so we can be ready to back you up. When saying anything it helps if you have a band of regulars who post everytime you do and throw in sayings familiar to all the “in people”. I’d give you some of the sayings but I’m not an in person so I don’t know them.
Start all your stories with, “There was this old guy at the gym who…”, this immediately establishes your youth, knowledge, strength, ability, and apparently immortality.
Find one of the more popular and frequent posters and add meaningful comments to what ever they say. “Quoted for truth” seems to work well. This is referred to as “hugging their nutsack”, (I think).
Never, ever, under any circumstances, post an actual picture or vid of you doing anything related to lifting weights. This is verbotten and will get you kicked off the island.
Sorry for running on. I find it safer to just stay here. Oh yeah, great squats.
