I dig that quote.
Me too up to a point. Like I’m all about absolute strength as a measure of being “strong”. As in relatively strong is nice, but just plain effing strong is better.
It also means that if you need to pull a 500lb log off of someone the Universe isn’t impressed by your 450lb 2xBW DL and let the last 50lbs slide. The poor bastard is still stuck.

Joe, are you giving the ‘functional’ strength argument? It kind of sounds like it. Does anyone really give a shit what the theoretical universe is impressed with? Personally, I train to get strong and win meets within the parameters set out by the fed in which I compete. I’m not all that concerned about anyone stuck under a log.
Wait I missed this, I was sort of taking the anti-functional strength platform. I was trying to say that a 2x BW DL isn’t shabby but +50lbs than that is always better no matter what the weight of the lifter.
Well the shoulder is ok. Thank God but the upper back is bruised a little now and im still missing skin.I get the feeling that a few of you had hoped that I had soiled my undies.Well now I know where I stand on this forum. In the crapper.
I love the old body building pictures. Do you ever think about doing it again?
Nope. Not at this point and time. Id rather work on gettin strong first . Maybe if the urge hit me,but i dont think it well. i pretty much burned myself out on it when I was younger.Besides im a strength sports type of guy( for the record anyone reading this,Bodybuilding isnt a strength sport! I know the truth hurts deal with it!!)Back on track now. Besides anymore im just to lazy on diet. When I ran with the BB crowd I found that there seems to be a higher % of ego maniacs and A holes then in powerlifting or strongman ( of course there a few there also). Not saying everyone is like that in BB.Plus for me I find that there is a concreate way to tell how good you are in powerlifting. For me BB is to abstract if you know what I mean.

I think we’ve all gotten stuck in the hole… At least I have. It could have been worse than a bruised shoulder and some missing skin.
True. At the time I was worried about a torn rotator cuff or a blown disk.
Shoulder tri set: Side raises/front/bent over flyes 3x 20 x some weight…My left shoulder was bugging me from dumping the weight on squats.Just wanted to get the joint working and getting blood in the area.
