I find once I miss a deadlift attempt I’m spent. CNS or muscle fatigue…I don’t know. Also, deadlift is one of those lifts that if you’re scared of the weight you’re gonna miss the weight. I’m sure with a crowd cheering you on you’ll pull 575+.[/quote]

I agree with you .I knew when I felt twinge of fear on the first heavy attempt Monday that I was screwed. But being im bull headed I keep trying and things got worse. Deads are one of those lifts that you just need to pull and not think. You know what I mean? Sorta like:“Do or do not there is no try” “I cant believe I just used a phrase from Yoda”.

just did the called for reps.I didnt want to push it today since ill be getting ready to start busting my ass for the next few weeks, for my meet.Im still feeling the fallout from all those dead attempts Monday. Not to mention that im getting use to a lower “carb” intake and dealing with my PMS.Of course with everything with my eating I think im starting to over do it.The only bright thing going on right now is that im only 9 pounds off from hitting weight. So that not going to be a issue for me.But anyway this was the last time ill be using the Axel other then deloading next week. After that its back to a normal bar.

good job on cutting, now just keep that pms in check…

good job on the weight loss… you going to try to keep going down for your general health or just down enough for the meet…

Great work, bulldog. The deads will come back, with vengeance. I do agree that 5/3/1 is not likely the best for them, though.
I did rack pulls, while doing 5/3/1. My reps went through the roof, but my max didn’t move much.

Sorry to hear about this.

Thanks for the detailed response regarding my 5/3/1 question. I realized I kind of hijacked your log after I did so.

Gotta admit that I didn’t know what an axle bar was until I googled it.

Thanks. But to be honest its not to hard when one is a bloated overfeed hog as myself. The damn PMS is different these damn cramps are killing me.

Health? LOL if I was worried about that I would not be trying to put over 1/4 ton plus across my back.To be honest once I drop I want to stay close to 240 and see how it goes from there. Before I started I was at a all time high body weight.Trust me I could feel it and i was not liking how I was feeling. The way I look at it at this point there is no reason for me to be over 240 since I have no plans to compete in the 275 class. That is unless I put on 15 or 20 lbs of lean muscle.Which I dont see happening in the near future. Also i have found that extra bulk(other then pure beef) doesnt have that big of a impact on my lifts.

your welcome. dont worry about hijacking this thread.Hell I find it funny that any one would even read what I write.

I’m not doing 5/3/1 deads either! I’ll mostly (from now on, anyways) do singles, fairly explosive (75%-85%) and let the heavy squat do the rest.

Sounds like a plan.

Did not get to train yesterday.had to run to “Indy” last night . The Varsity Football team was playing At Lucas Oil Stadium. In what is known as “The Payton Manning Payback Classic”.We where able to take are youth football players( we ended up having 60 that went) on the field to make a tunnel for the varsity to run through. The game was televised by one of the local tv stations. The coolest thing was seeing the looks on the kids faces when they got to see Manning only a few yards away from them.

Manning with are varsity cheerleaders

Another of Manning with one of are High school coaches

Manning and Colts WR Anthony Gonzales.

Spot the fat Bastard

Getting kids in line

What a mess of kids.
