I have worked my way up from 1500cal/day to 3700, but it seems I just shit it all out (excuse the profanity). How long should I expect to wait before I start absorbing more? or, because I havnt read an article about how the body processes food, I dont know, as a body builder should I start expecting alot more of my day to be spent on the loo?

Its normal, your body is pretty smart and if you are on a good program it will know to absorb enough for it.
lol food is not 100% nutrients. Actually very little of it is nutrients so it doesn’t mean your body is not absorbing it because you are shitting more.
If you are eating a clean diet with lots of fruits and vegetables you will have a very big increase in “poop.” This is because of the increase in your fibre intake from the fruits and vegetables.

Except for things that pass through whole, there’s almost no nutrition left in feces, unless you have a digestive disorder. It’s mostly indigestible stuff, and dead bacteria (your gut is teeming with them).
The body likes to hang on to calories. There’s some dispute over whether a significant number of calories are pissed out when in ketosis (the studies say no, I believe, but there haven’t been enough of them to be confident about them yet). Other than that, you basically don’t excrete calories.
Two things that can help you with absorption are digestive enzymes and probiotics. Even when you take those though, you’ll often still shit more than once per day.
The best way to get these is with live yogurt (the stuff you make at home, not from the grocery store.) Like novagreg said it doesn’t help with the volume but it does help with gas.
