A Work in Progress

Thank you my friend…

who knows…before that single of 185, I did a set of 4…so that’s probably what did me in!

The weight really doesn’t feel too bad…once I get it off the floor, that is! :stuck_out_tongue:

MinM

I have to agree with DCA you do make the weights your moving look light-
so it might be time to put some weight on the bar…

good work…

Seconded. She’s making the weights she uses look very light.

Ha! You are charming indeed!

Here are my vids from today:
95x3-squat

155x1-squat–you can see resident trainer/pro bb(former kickboxer), and my buddy Victor in the background there, haha…
took me awhile, cause I was getting nervous? I dunno…I can see that I had a forward lean slightly…I can’t be scared of the big weight!!

185x1-DL* I think I can see a slight rounding which would make sense as to why my back hurts* :frowning:

[/quote]

Squatties: Yup - you let your elbows come back instead of forcing 'em forward. I do the same thing when I get nervous about the poundage. But letting them drift back costs me my upper back arch and actually makes the movement harder.

Deeyell - I see no back rounding. Probably felt loosey-goosey and weak, but looked okay.

<puts on skirt, sweater and grabs pom-poms>

You got power you ain’t even used yet!

I thought both the squats and DL looked fine-- even had a couple more in the tank probably.

Good videos! The deadlift looked super easy and well controlled. I didn’t see any rounding in your back, either. From watching your setup, I bet you’re like me and tend to over-think things when the weight starts going up. Everyone tells me to to just set up and lift! Great job.

Thanks for all the AWESOME feedback!

And, yes, now that I think about I do tend to over think things, lol…I’ve always been careful in going up in weights, cause I want to make sure all the technical things are in place, and I’m not just muscling the weight around…don’t want to just half-ass things, nor do I want to get hurt!

Maybe I should quit being so dainty, and get MAD, and just NAIL IT!! ;<

Today’s cardio was FUN!
I did some little circuits of 30s each of the following:

-played with snatches(hehehe)
-bw squats to box(quick quick quick)
-planks
-jump rope
catch breath, do it again…this continued on for 30 minutes

And since Jackie(trainer), the lady I am “shadowing,” had an unexpected cancellation, she didn’t show up. So I felt the need to torture myself some more and did:
10minutes on treadmill…10%incline @2.8
10minutes bike-level 15

Sweating BUCKETS!!!

Another thought… In wanting to be all exact and technical, it’s keeping me from muscling through some lifting at times. I LOVE lifting heavy, but my desire for doing it “right,” holds me back.
So no more Mrs. Nice Betty…it’s time to lift some REAL weight…ROAR!

And I have FINALLY talked the hubby into going to the gym with me!! More like arguing about it and listening to his petty BS for a couple weeks…
yesterday he was trying to get out of going to the gym by complaining that he doesn’t have anything to wear…so I took it upon myself to get him a couple pair of shorts and t-shirts…also got him some protein bars he can cram on his way to the gym. I’m tired of his lame excuses…he’s said for years he “wants to get bigger,” but does nothing about it…And it wouldn’t take much for him, since he is SUCKs and has good genetics…He’s pretty much a meso…eats whatever he wants, doesn’t gain weight, and keeps the muscle that he DOES have, by doing push ups once a week(rolling eyes here)…bastard.

I’m making it easy on myself, and just giving him the copy of NROL for men that I have…

Alright. It’s officially ON!

I’ve been challenged to complete a 225lb squat!! My competitor is of equal strength at the moment, very knowledgeable and VERY competitive…

It’s not a matter of IF I can do it, but more like WHEN…now I need a plan of action…

Tips, advice and suggestions are welcome!

I hear you on the guy front. Mine goes to the gym, but sporadically. He has all the info but not much interest, and frankly he’d look better if he kept at it. It still galls me how much stronger he is than me, despite being lazier – &*!# men and their handy hormones!

You will win.

Howdat for a plan?

You’re capable of much more weight than you’re currently using, so it’s a sucker bet in my book.

Thanks! LOL…

ok, capable…got that! Anyone is capable for that matter, right?

But HOW is what I would like to know…sets/reps…1,2,3 times a week? I guess I can’t know all the answers, and part of the challenge will be to figure it out on my own!

Hey, how’s the weather in Argentina, these days? haha

For some reason I have a vague recollection of a certain person who keeps a log on PW wanting to do the same thing. If I remember correctly, following the program laid out for her she did it 6 weeks earlier than her plan. IN FACT, she may have even accomplished it in 6-8 weeks total. Just sayin…

TH weather in Argentina is good, but fumes from the silver mines are staining my milky skin a turgid blue…

Haha, good one…I’ll try my best to look over that gold mine of info!!

Todays training was pretty good…Not bad considering I was thinking of skipping it…just tired, and feel beat up…but nothing a little red bull didn’t help get me through.

  1. cuban bb rotation-
    3x10x30lb

2a) push press- 2x7/5/3…85,95,115…95,105,120!-got a video…but my video recording skills aren’t the best…all you can see is a torso
2b) pull-up- 2x 7/5/3…115,110,105,110,105,70x0.5 75x1 80x1

3a) scott press- 3x10x35
3b) v-grip pull down- 3x10x100-muscled through these towards the end…
3c) saxon side bends- 3x10x15s

CARDIO
Treadmill 5min warmup
1min@15%incline-4.0
2min slow
Did that three times
5min cool down

I like doing it that way better…I’ll add a round each week.

Hard to gauge the shot when you’re not in it…

Those push presses still looked easy and light. You’re controlling the weight nicely when it comes back to the shoulders.

Saxon side bends! Haven’t seen those listed on many logs. You do any reading on Saxon?

It didn’t feel easy and light! :open_mouth: Especially that last rep…but my adrenaline gets in the way sometimes…and today’s rest was only 60s between the pull ups and push presses…craziness.

Saxon…nope, doesn’t ring a bell… Then again Scott presses are named after a dude, so it makes sense I guess! :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh. Well, then - Saxon copied all my greatest moves and then took credit for them. I was going to sue him for copyright infringement but he had the bad grace to die early last century, so I let it go. However, since he was more handsome and 17 times as chatty as me, everything I invented got named after him.

Sometimes I think there is no justice in life.

Forgot my log at home…just did my own thing and it felt damned GOOD!!

1-Squats- 6x4x135
2-static lunges- 4x12x95-move up!
3- leg press- 4x12x230-moving up next time!
4- leg curls-4x10x95
5-leg ext-4x12x100
6-rdl’s- 4x12,10,10,12x135

Here is my last set of RDL’s…
I don’t think I was going down for enough on this one…but I still felt that streeetch…I was tired, so pbbbbt :stuck_out_tongue:

CARDIO
Bike-5min warmup
1min@15%-90-100RPM
2min@7
THREE rounds
Cool down 5min @ 8%

Then my hubby showed up!!! I helped him through his “break in,” program…

Stopping by to say hi, training looks good. Awesome that your hubby showed up. Also I watched the RDL vid and thought maybe you should slow down and really feel the stretch. I actually did RDL and dropped the weight to 80lbs. to go slow and had to stretch my hams afterwards because of the burn. Felt good though.
