A Work in Progress

Good move! Remember they work for you and you can and should fire them for incompetency…

Okay did I ever tell you to go to realthyroidhelp.com and read, read, read? The information there is knowledge and the knowledge you can take with you to your appointments and have one up on the doctor’s. There is a wealth of infomation there and if you have questions, any of the ladies are more than willing to help. I wouldn’t be where I am at today without their help. Heck most of the things I tell you about is from reading their site and doing research on my own. Even my endo didn’t even know what is in Armour thyroid and I don’t think he still does completely. I let him know at one of our appointments.

I feel badly for you right now, but I know you will get your head around it. It is a little complex. Now imagine trying to deal with thyroid hormones and female homones at the same time like I am. Very difficult to understand and the get a doc. who can grasp it all. Fun Times!!

Soap box done. I just want to help so much. You are doing great, but I do think your body is working against you right now. Again some small things you can do on your own - take plenty of vitamin C, they always say to bowel tolerance. I take 3000 mg daily, split three times daily. B vitamins are good for thyroid. Avoid eating fresh broccoli, & florinated water. I really think that vitamin D is important at this point also. I am just coming out of winter here, very little sunshine, so my body could not convert the sunshine to vitamin D in my body, so I have been supplementing. Read more on that one. Stay with fish oils or DHA/EPA supplements. I do cook with Coconut oil and they say that is good for thyroid.

Well I didn’t jump off my soap box too quickly did I?

Anyway have a good Easter weekend.

P.S. You could always do salvia testing on your own, if you can afford.

I’m still here…been sick, but getting better.I’m getting my sense of smell and taste back today! Been without it for almost 5 days, and have been eating nothing but soup and crackers.

That’s all. feeling better, and will be back at it on Monday…I’m giving myself a chance to get over this cough and still stuffy nose…two not very good things when you are trying to breath through lifting some weight!

Hope you feel better soon.

I hate being sick…I have a very robust immune system because I work in a public library and am exposed to just about every bug around. When I do get sick, I get SICK.

Thanks.
I am feeling back to normal, still have a little cough though…
I will be back to “work,” tomorrow!

Back to “work,” today.
I am doing a program from the PN site…I felt the need to relinquish control and get out of my comfort zone…I need the discipline to follow something without tweaking the hell out of it, or adding more/less.I am an incessant tweaker, so I’m breaking that habit :P…
I am sticking to this program for 12 weeks!!

1a-Scarecrows-3x12-5s (rest 10s)
1b- Facepulls-3x12x30(rest 60s, repeat above)

2a- Standing BB shoulder press ---->wave loading 2sets of-8/6/4 and you go back and forth with the pull ups, resting 75s after each set…(45-65-70/50-70-85(PR) not very pretty though, had to “help,” the first and last one up)
2b- Wide Grip pull ups- 2-8/6/4-145-13-115/130-115-105

3a- Renegade Rows-3x6(each side) 25lb-rest 10s got some looks here, and someone behind me said" that’s hardcore, what is she doing?" And then someone said “renegade rows, you don’t see many people doing those.” I felt special.
3b- T-pushups-3x6(each side) rest 10s
3c- cable chop-3x6x20lbs
really trying to squeeeeze the obliques* rest 90s, repeat above…the sweat was dripping!

Nothing less and nothing more… I didn’t feel the need!

CardioUpright Bike-20min-level 8

#6…shame on you for adding an exercise not in the program!!!
Don’t feel to bad about your log, many read it but do not post. I feel the same way about mine in the Sorority. Anyways, happy training!

Trying not to feel bad, but I used to get a lot more “action.” :stuck_out_tongue:
I know, bad Betty for adding something…teehee…only tweak of the week, I swear!!

I’ll comment so you feel the love, but I have practically NO idea what all those exercises are yet…my BF has a beautiful book of weightlifting anatomy, so I will look them up when I am feeling less tired.

I have a 60-90 min commute each way to work, and today I gave a staff inservice, and THEN I walked the dogs and THEN hit the gym…so all I can comment on is good job on doing something and working up a sweat!

Quilty as charged. Been stopping by and reading but not posting comments. Sorry to hear you were sick, but i am glad you are feeling better. I have been caught up in a project at work, so haven’t been doing much posting or reading. I seem to only have time at work to do these things.

For me I am hanging in there. I can’t get my head around all these hormonal changes I am going through and the changes my body is going thru. This 16 pounds is killing me. I just have to find something to kick me in gear. I did start working on trying to do some HIIT cardio last week. Today I finally suceeded to make it thru my whole workout with five sessions of HIIT. I usually warm up for 5 minutes then jog for 2 min. and the walk fast for 2 min. and then go back and forth. maybe not a true HIIT, but it got me sweating.

I am going to try to increase excercise and decrease these calories. I do so well until I get home at night. It’s the bedtime snack I got to have and it is usually sweet - dove choc, ice cream sandwich, mixed nuts & dried fruit. All bad!!!

Well gotta go! Works over and I am heading for gym.

Thnx Chrys and Karen-

Well, my apt yesterday was not as magical or eye openining as I had imagined…It took me nearly two hours to get to this place and I saw the Doc for maybe two minutes? ;< Come to find out there is a location less than 1/2 the distance from my house I could have gone too, grrrr…

I am getting more tests done that I haven’t before though…like 4 more to be specific. SO I suppose that’s a step in the right direction! She also ordered an U/S to get my neck looked at!

I guess I don’t know at what point to ask when to get the adrenals/cortisol stuff checked…I thought that was part of the whole package? Also, I’m still very curious about food sensitivities and how they affect the thyroid…Thinking about ordering my own tests for that, but I don’t know where from? I am supposed to go back in two months…

Until then I will be taking my temp every three hours like described here:
http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph

And I will start on my meds again, cause I am feeling like crap(again). I just want for once, a doctor to sit and LISTEN!! Cause even the endo. seemed rushed and didn’t even ask if I had questions…I guess if you don’t look bad enough, or have enough symptoms they dismiss you as someone with just another hypo-case…ugh.

Hey the temperature taking will show how well the adrenals are functioning and if you have a good enough doctor that thinks outside the box and knows how to interpret (sp) them, you will be okay. Did this endo tell you to do the temp. testing? If so you may have found a half way decent doctor that doesn’t rely on a medical school text books and thinks outside the box.

I have been taking my temps for a while, but quit a couple of months ago. It really does tell alot. Download or read alot on Dr. Rind’s site. It’s very helpful.

If you read any on realthyroidhelp.com, you will read about the countless doctors that don’t have a clue and don’t seem to listen. I am just not sure whether it is just a short bit of education on the thyroid or whether they just don’t care or know.

The food allergies you are experiencing maybe my digestion issues. A good Probiotic may help there. Typically a person with thyroid issues will also have digestion issues. I know I read on my meno. site that becoming intolerable to certain foods indicates part of the peri-menopause stage. Now I know why I couldn’t eat apples and ice cream for years. I am tolerating them much better now, but again I take a probiotic three times a day and a digestive enzyme.

Sorry you had to drive so far, but maybe this will be a better doc. I hope so for you.

By the way what thyroid meds did you get put on? If you are on Snythryoid, I would try to get doc. to prescribe Armour. If you are having stomach issues then you can dissolve under toungue or in betwwn cheek and gum and avoid going thru the stomach. I also split mine - 1 grain(60mg) in A.M and 1 grain at lunch.

Again for support of the adrenals take Celtic Sea Salt 1/4 tsp to 1/2 in O.J. I just take mine in water. Sprinkle your foods liberally with. Also take vitamin C to bowel tolerance. I take 1000mg in a.m. and 1000mg after lunch and 1000mg before bedtime.

Well sorry my post was a thyroid lesson again. I wish you the best. I don’t have all the answers, but I have been dealing with this for three years. I am finding out this might have been brought on partly due to heading into menopause, but truely I think I have had since I was a teenager. So many women have this, but just have learned to live with it. It is so much worse when all the hormones go whacky as mine have, low progestrone, low thyroid, low cortisol and no DHEA. I’ll get this fixed yet.

By the way I am really working hard at getting myself back together with eating and excercising.

Later!

fitnesslady

Sorry if my thoughts are all over the place. That is where I seem to be some days.

Thanks Karen!!
No, the doc didn’t suggest taking temps, I wanted to do it to track my monthly cycles anyway

I guess we’ll see what these next round of tests say before I start asking about adrenal stuff…

I was taking synthroid but stopped about 2 months ago…I got lazy about refilling my script and just never went back…and I wanted to see if I was “cured.” Silly, huh? :stuck_out_tongue: The fatigue started creeping back in a few weeks ago :frowning: I don’t think I would even get prescribed armour, nor do I think the navy base has it at there pharmacy, but you never know!!

Training today!

1)Kneeling x-rows- 3x15x45

2a)BB bent row- 2- 8/6/4-----> 65/85/95
85/95/105

2b) Flat bb bench- 2-8/6/4-----> 85/95/105
95/105/115

Still feeling pumped so I grabbed Victor and asked for a spot and got 135x4! But he had to help with the last rep…just wanted to see since I was feeling really strong with bench today…pretty good considering I hadn’t benched in over two weeks!! I focused on squeezing my shoulders blades together HARD, and squeezed my butt as well, haha…hadn’t gone for a max in a few months!

3a) See-saw press- 3x8x25s(rest 10s)<— will use 30s next time
3b) Iron crossleave your ego at the door! 3x8x5s(rest 10s)
3c) Windmill- 3x6x10 (rest 90s, repeat!!!)<----hope I’m doing this right!

No TWEAKS!!! Really wanted to do some incline presses, and some triceps, but alas…I was really making progress with flat db/incline presses before I started…I was up to 50lb dbs!

wud up…

still sore from this weeks training…haven’t felt like that in awhile…hopefully the soreness will ease off soon as I get used to the intensity…and the program Im doing IS pretty intense!

Week 2 start Monday…wahoo.

On a random note, I looked back to the last page of this forum and saw when TC had just introduced it…makes me sad that some of the original girls hardly post anymore, if at all…

How many of you were part of the F-heit forums? That’s where I started, took a break, then got redirected here! :stuck_out_tongue:

ho hum…it’s HOT outside…

That is all.

It is snowing here. Trade ya.

HaHa, Chrys, your so nice! But I think I’ll pass this time, thanks… :stuck_out_tongue:

So today I’m starting week 2 of the program I’m doing…I really like it!

I’ve been slowly raising cals, and this week I’m up to 1800! :open_mouth:

In other news, I bought a size 12 yesterday! I haven’t worn that size since sept of 2005…
