A Work in Progress

How’s the knees today? I do hope they are doing better. Nothing worse than pain to pull you back from what you like to do.

Did you buy the Precision Nutrition System? I have been taking a hard look at lately. I need some help, but don’t want to waste my money. At least there is a money back guarantee. My try it.

This is when I wished I had a little more money to hire someone for a bit of help. Mine I am sure is complicated by Meno. but I’ll break thru is again.

Have a great day! Heading for Des Moines for a fishing tackle show for hubby’s business. At least I get to see my mom and dad.

yep, I got PN back in Sept, I think…we worth the money, and everyone is always willing to help!
I’m paying a little extra money for this program I am a part of, but it’s been awesome!!

My knees are hanging in there, lol…I haven’t worked out since Sat…the kids are sharing there cold with me, blah…I think Ill be good to go tomorrow…just not sure what to do…I don’t even have a diagnosis yet…I’ve been smart about it though, and only do the things that don’t hurt :stuck_out_tongue: Although, they still ache at night, workouts or not!! Im hoping its just arthritis, if it had to be anything!

Have you been icing your knees at night? It helps a lot.

nope, it’s about the only thing I haven’t done…DUH!!! Thanks for reminding me!

It’s weird because I haven’t done anything the last few days, but its like clockwork when I lay down at night to relax, my knees start barking! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m down another pound since last Friday! WOOT! Also .5 inch off my natural waist, .5 inch around my belly, and an 1" around my butt! :open_mouth: I am now officially smaller than when I started with Victor in DEC.
DAmn those seven pounds I gained when we went home for x-mas!! ;<

I have hope that what I am doing is WORKING!! And I’m hesitant to change programs at this time.

The interesting thing is that I haven’t even been to the gym since last Saturday, but I’ve been eating the same(minus the post workout carbs) About the only thing different is that today marks one week since I haven’t had dairy…hmmm

My fast was interesting yesterday as well…my hunger really didn’t peak til about 2pm…but then I got busy doing other things, and knew that I was in the homestretch…by 5pm though, I ate two hard boiled eggs while making dinner…and as much daydreaming about food I had been doing, I was surprised that I wasn’t that hungry for dinner after those eggs I had!

I made it back to the gym yesterday…yay!

I also had my first taste of Gemma protein.(pea protein) Interesting stuff, to say the least! The consistency reminds me of cake batter, accept a little chalky?

Had a good workout today!

I caught the attention of this old PL guy whom I talked to awhile back…you don’t see many girls in my gym with the bigger wheels on! He didn’t forget our convo about training for a PL meet… right now my goal is fat loss, and I don’t know if I can do both!

I also moved up to 40s for my incline db press…kickin butt!

Been quiet around here lately!

Had good training today, but went a little over board, and now my knees are paying for it :frowning: ugh…

still waiting on my nurse to call with the results of the xray I had last tuesday, even though physical therapy already called to schedule some appts…maybe I should just call them since they seem to be more on top of shit then they gawd darned nurse! grrrr

I might do something crazy, and take a Pilates class this morning…I know I shouldn’t knock it before I try it, cause it’ll probably kick my ass!
But I’ve been wanting to incorporate different things like that…

oh, how quick I am to judge!
Pilates kicks your BOO_TAY!!! :open_mouth:
Of course I worked legs yesterday, so it didn’t help that I was already sore…but man! It really tests the muscular endurance which is important too!
I think I will go from now on…

And no, there wasn’t tiny gymnasts…lol…there was even men whom I’ve seen doing strength training as well…
I’m glad I went!

Yeah for you…are there other classes available to do besides pilates?

ya, there are tons!
I’ll probably check out a cycling class next…

Training went like this -3x12 on everything, 30-45s rest between…

OH shoulder press
3x12x25s

Lat pulldowns
3x12x70

HS Iso row
3x12x110

Upright row
3x12x20s

Lat raises(machine)
3x12x35lbs

Barbell shrugs
3x12x135

I was pretty spent after this but did
Close grip bench
3x12x65

Cardio* Upright Bike
25min Level 10-hill intervals
go all out, trying to keep it above 75 on the hill portions…

How do you like using the bike? Is it helping keep the pressure off your knee? Have you been icing after the gym?

I really do like the bike! It feels like the most natural as far as stationary machines go…even the treadmill hurts sometimes because of the drag…eh, I haven’t been icing, because really my knees haven’t been giving me too much trouble lately! I’ve been taking glucosamine with MSM, so maybe it’s kickin in!

I’ve also been sticking to higher reps with the legs, so as to take some of the pressure off…my dang nurse still hasn’t even called me with the results of my x-rays from last week!!(grumble, (^*)(&#)((@) I can’t stand her! lol…even though the physio therapy peeps called that week to schedule me an appt!
sigh…
And I don’t think I mentioned, but I found an endocrinology center that is in our insurance network!! I called right away to make an appt…I am very hopeful…The appt is not until the latter part of April. But until then I am going to be diligently tracking my food and exercise as proof that I have been putting in the work!

Anyway, despite being sleep deprived, that didn’t keep me out of the gym! Razz I did 15min hill intervals on the bike…then a 30min AB class  And then another 15min on the bike…DONE!

I think tomorrow I’m gonna take a break,(break meaning go outside for a walk or something) cause Saturday morning is my Biggest Loser class and my whole body is pretty sore this week! Love that feeling though…I did one legged db dl’s on Monday that Im still feeling today!!

I’m pretty certain I’m going to be starting a new program on Monday! It’s one I found on the PN site by Krista Schaus(sp)? That is, if I don’t do a few weeks of GBC first…haven’t decided yet!

oh ya…I called to leave a message for my nurse to call me back about my x-ray results…and SHE didn’t call but another nurse did…

From what she said it sounds like chrondomalacia? But all she said was slight degeneration…ugh…it doesn’t sound ‘slight,’ when I’m walking up the stairs!!

And I’m pretty peeved that all that was mentioned in my chart was my RIGHT knee, when I specifically said my LEFT knee HURTS to do things…granted my right knee grinds the most…
meh, I need a new provider!

Until then I have some physio therapy stuff lined up, and my first appt is tomorrow!

Depending on what Helga the physio therapy lady says tomorrow(she sounded like a manly woman on the phone), I think I’m back on for training this strongman comp! whoooo!!

I knew I heard of her before…I almost did build the bigger back and beyond program from her. And now I found this article by her and am trying to decide which is better the PN program or this?

http://www.figureathlete.com/free_online_article/diet_and_nutrition/strategy_for_a_kickass_2009

hmm…I’m doing a split similar to that, accept that one has a little more volume to it! And back had its own day…I would do a deadlift variation on this day…
I don’t know, they both look good!

I think I’m still going to go with the other program…I like that it has 4 parts…so you have something to look forward to!

In other news, I am down another 1/2 pound, and a half inch off my belly, and the smallest part of my waist!! I measure/weigh once a week now to better gauge progress…
Its been two weeks since I’ve given up dairy…And I’ve also consistently been drinking my gallon of water a day…those are the two main changes to my diet…oh, plus I haven’t really had 10% meals…I’ve had a piece of chocolate here and there, but that’s it!(hey, I AM human afterall)

It’s hard to say if any one thing is giving me results…but I’m just going to keep plugging along as is!

Krista does some amazing work. I’m lucky enough to know her and she’s an encyclopedia on information.

I remember reading you were doing the PN stuff. Are you following her log over there? I find her log covers ast amounts of information related to training and nutrition, with some very female specific advice.

Keep up the great work!
