A Work in Progress

Im home from hanging with the strongman peeps…Today I actually did stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

5x5x75(c&p)

3x10x65 strict presses

Farmers walks(with real ‘farmers,’) 130lbs(easy!) 50ft down and back/6x

Chain walks?? you wear a belt, and walk with the big chain behind you…it was about 200lbs…down and back 3x…

Then his wife came out, I introduced myself chatted a good while, then I came home!

Hopefully I can get in to see the doc about my knees SOOON!! I don’t want to do anything extra really until I know for sure whats up…it’s just so hard NOT to…it’s not like I’m jumping in without ever having picked up a weight before…and my mind is pretty much made up to do this, so I’m trying not to be too stubborn :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m so bummed…I had to go upstairs to change the little one, and thought maybe it would hurt less if I took two steps at a time(or it would get me there faster anyway)

And I got a shooting pain in the side of my knee :(( :((

Why is this happening NOW? I’m so young…and have yet to begin to do ANYthing!! grrr

I sounded so whiney last night, I could kick my own butt! sorry…

In other news I have gained 2inches around my shoulders since Dec! Most likely not fat either, lol…
Also last week I lost another half inch around my belly, and a half inch around my calves, which for me is hard to lose from!

Good for you. It sounds like you had a lot of fun. I’ve never tried chain dragging but sounds pretty kick ass.

Farmer’s walk you found 130 easy? We did 120/side and I found it tough. You’re a monster.

Hey,

I know you have been training for awhile and it seems like we always have our bases covered, but maybe not. I wished I could remember where I read the article about stengthing the knees. I believe it mentioned about a part of muscle in the knee that we don’t strenghthen enough, leaving it weak. I just can’t remmeber. If I find I’ll pass your way. I am hoping that is all you will need and maybe a little rest.

ya, It WAS fun! I am getting more comfy around the guys too…there all really nice, but no matter how much of a tough girl you think you are, it can still be a little intimidating to do stuff like this being the only female…

Maybe the farmers walk felt easy, cause I have been practicing with with dbs…also for you Julie, that’s pretty much like carrying your own bodyweight!!

The chain drag was pretty sweet…the other guys were SPRINTING with it up the street and back!!..I just walked with it, but I think thats what did my knees in last night :frowning:

Today I just did light stuff, and really focused on form.
I got on the eliptical to warm up, and my knees were HURTING…GRRRRRR!!!

Zurcher squat(like these!)/Leg pressno rest
3x15x just the bar, and no weight on the leg press.just went back and forth til I was done.

CARDIO

In other news I got my appt moved up for my knees, so that’s next tuesday, instead of 3 more weeks from now, ugh…while I’m there I bet she’ll say something ignorant like they probably hurt since Im overweight and that I should exercise, DUH!!! She’s actually the one who diagnosed my hypo, and if you can believe it, I’ve GAINED 7 pounds since starting my meds, and adding more intense cardio…I will be sure to mention that!
In the meantime I’m looking for a new DOC< cause I loathe the stupid base clinic…

Hey, thanks Karen-
I hope that’s all it is too…but I can hear and feel grinding in my knees, so thats not good…and have been on the decline over the past couple months, pain wise…my knees never used to bother me until just recently :frowning:

magnificent!!!

dang 130 lb farmers walks. sweet.

I had the grinding knees thing when I first started back at daily exercising. It lasted about 6 months, right up until I started biking for miles on a daily basis. Then I learned the o-lifts and the deep squatting cured it for good. Not to say that is your issue, I’m glad you are seeing a Dr. about it.
Sounds like you are having a good time with the training lately, variety is great!

Thanks Diana-
I hope it’s a quick fix, but I have a feeling it’s not!
It’s like I have been deteriorating just over the past couple weeks!

Maybe more rest and recovery??? You have changed your training to working out more days a week. Also about the shoes, have you checked online, buying mens may be a cause to the problem? Just my 2 cents though…Can’t wait to hear results of that strongman your preparing for! Good Luck.

Maybe…
the thing about buying shoes online, is how do I try them on?
Unless I got a really really REALLY good recommendation about a specific type…

I had a sort of relevation this evening…
Since INCREASING the cardio in DEC til now, I have GAINED three pounds…

I’m wondering if there is something going on with the adrenals afterall, and maybe cortisol levels are whacky? Neither of which I know anything about…

Plus for over a week now it feels like my throat has been rubbed with cotton balls! ugh

try zappos.com…free shipping both ways if they don’t work.

hmm, any recommendations on what KIND of shoe I should try? cross trainers perhaps?

Hey Betty! Hope the knee is OK. Here is a kick ass article about it:

Thanks Moll-
It’s both knees FWIW, and I think from doing research I have arthritis kicking in…good times…my appt is next tuesday!

Training was good…too lazy to write it all though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Does anyone know about getting tested for allergies? Is that something you should just be able to ask your doc about?

It’s something that has been in the back of mind for sometime…I am going to try to eliminate dairy for the next two weeks and see what happens…this is hard, cause I eat cottage cheese like 2x/day! :((

I was going to eliminate the cottage cheese today, but I don’t think I can do it! I don’t know what else to eat for breakfast! Eggs hurt my tummy, and I don’t eat cereal/oatmeal…and if Im trying to take dairy out then that means no protein shake either :Panic:

I’ll probably just eat some chicken, lol…

I ended up having hard boiled eggs for breakfast…we’ll see how the tummy does later! :open_mouth: And instead of brussel sprouts for lunch, I’m having carrots…you didn’t want to be near me yesterday…ugh!! LOL!!! Not sure what it was, but I think it was the bag o brussel sprouts!!

I’m still going to request an allergy test cause it would be interesting to see…but I’m eliminating dairy on my own accord…at least for two weeks! I do love my cottage cheese though! :frowning:

Training:

Bench-
1x12x65
2x10x85
1x8x95
2x6x115
1x5x125!
1x3x130!!!

Decline db bench
3x12x30s

Cable flies
3x12x15 on each side

Bent over row
3x12x70

And WHOAH!! My trainer is strong! At least I think so…he asked ME for a spot! :stuck_out_tongue: I felt special…he got 515 for three(back squat) He’s in between shows right now, so he says he’s having fun lifting heavy, and trying to put on more size…and that crazy effer was doing walking lunges with 135! crazy…
So after that I felt froggy do did some squats…5x5x150!

Barbell curls
3x12x30
Concentration curls
3x12x20( I swear I have no left bicep, grumble)
