I don’t know if I mentioned this before, but my MIL got me the p90X program for x-mas(I know what you all are thinking) I briefly thought of doing this with the hubby, as he has been wanting to work out FOREVER, but is not very motivated to do it on his own…
[/quote]
I feel your pain! Hubby suggested we do P90X together after my next meet…I love him and want to help him out…
But doing my workouts in addition to those ones might suck.
I know…and I’m already paying for this gym membership, am involved in the Biggest Loser Challenge there and still trying to train the big three, for this supposed strong lady comp my trainer wants to do I don’t know where Id fit it all in if we did the full p90x thing…
And the whole point was to do it TOGETHER, and theres no guarantee in that…
Im interested to try the other workouts though! The kenpo and and plyo workouts look ‘fun.’
Maybe you guys can do some of those workouts on your off days from the gym. Just don’t let them interfere or get you off track from your program.
It’s nice you are trying to get hubby moving, but you can’t give him the internal motivation he needs to start working out. A person has to want to do it, and if that means going to the gym or working out after lunch, late at night, whatever, then they’ll do it. Give it a shot, but ultimately it’s up to him.
Nice job on the 2lbs down, keep at it. Stay focused.
Oh trust me, he’s READY!! I wasn’t even bugging him about and he just started up a convo one day about it…I think he sees how happy working out makes me, and he wants that too…I always tease him that he better start lifting so I don’t get stronger than him
Plus, his 30th is coming up, so I think it’s hitting how fast time flies!
Here is his routine-
M-Chest/Back/Abs
T-Plyo
W-Shoulders/Arms/Abs
Thurs-Kenpo
Fri-Legs/Back/Abs
Sat-Yoga,stretch or family exercise…( neither one of us do yoga, but I thought it would be fun :P)
The gym was more crowded due to it being a holiday…
I figure it’s safe to share my training…
I’m still following Victors plan, but I’ve always been improvising(with trainers approval)
warm-up 5min eliptical
Warm-up* chest press-3x10x60-(rest only 10s in between)
Bench- 1x12x85 3x10x95
1x1x140! 1x1x135<-----Had Victor spot me…I think I did too much beforehand, cause I baaaaarely got 140 and had to have help…then I don’t think I rested long enough before I went for the 135, cause that was hard too!
We have a bowflex that my hubby is(finally) using…hey, at least it’s something!! Anyway, I hopped on, to test it out(the bowflex, not my hubby:P)
I think it gives a false sense of strength…Im really reaaaally hoping that he’ll go to the gym instead…but wants to use the bowflex to see if its worth keeping(its mine, and I hate it)
He’s going to the gym with me in the morning for lower body Ill get to show off for him…
My kids joined in the fun as well!
In other news…I am TOTALLY starting to see the peak of my bicep…I’ve never had a peak…really proud of that…but lefty is so small, hrm…
Im also starting to be able to ‘feel,’ my lats flexing/contracting…
I tend to carry a lot of fat on my back( I know, ew) but the fact that Im starting to feel my muscles working is GOOD!!
Squats
1x10xbar 1x8x85 1x8x95 1x8x110 1x8x115
**went for a heavy set----> 1x3x160(felt really heavy, but I did it!) I don’t know how you ladies DO IT!! **
While I was sweating my butt off, I got to watch the President being sworn in, and despite being so sweaty I still got the chills!!
Anywho- As I was doing my cardio, this girl that I see a lot was benching…and heavy too!
She was doing a 5x5 with 115 as far as I could tell…and then went for a couple heavy sets with 135( I know, not heavy to many of you, but for us non-athletes I guess it is :P)
I wanted to introduce myself, but she was busy…maybe next time!!
I think I talked my friend into joining the gym too…and she might do the Biggest Loser challenge with me…She just had there first baby in DEC, so she’s ready to get back into it! She’s into running, blah, but also into lifting heavy, yay!!!
Actually they are friends of ours from ME who just moved down here…yay, I have a friend now!!
I’m not getting much action in my log on PN, so I wanted to keep track of foods here for about a week to make sure it looks like Im on the right track…I feel pretty confident but its always nice to get feedback!!!
Thanks Diana!
I’ve been toying with the idea of condensing my four workouts into three though…
I just don’t think I need a whole workout devoted to shoulders, especially since the next day I do back(+DL’s).
I promised myself(and Victor) that I would stick to this for at least four weeks though…changing up the rep/set scheme is helping too!
Here are my foods for today:
Scrambled eggs-(2 white, 1 whole)
Turkey sausage
Strawberries(fresh, no sugar added)+ all bran
2 fish oils
Tuna+
brussel sprouts
( I know it sounds kind of gross :P)
Cottage cheese+14 almonds
Cucumbers
Chicken
Broccoli
2 fish oils
Pretty boring, huh? Today is a non-training day…we’re supposed to do yoga though
Yep, they are workouts…It consists of three resistance days, and plyo, karate, core synergistics, yoga, cardio and abs thrown in…
It’s 12 week program you follow, and it changes every 4 weeks.
Just had to chime in. Looks like you are still going strong. I am hanging in there, but working through these horrible menopause symtoms. What a B**ch!!! I wish none of this on any women.
Didn’t get thru your whole thread, but one thing I did read was the sweating thing or lack there of. Welcome to the thyroid problems. I very rarely sweat and if I do it is back of neck in hair line or low back area.
I also have feet that fall asleep when on eliptical. Weird!
Right now I am trying to gain strength in eating better. I put 11 pounds on since October and I am not very happy about. I guess I am trying to work on feeling better. It would help if the weather here would get decent. The below zero temps and all the snow and ice has been waring on everyone in my part of the world.
Well stay strong. I’ll try to check back more often.
Hey Karen-
Thanks for checking on me!
Yep, still plugging away…
Eating has always seemed to be your struggle…
It was mine too, when I was making myself crazy trying to plan this amount of that at such and such a time, and this amount of calories this day and a different amount that day…BLAAAH!!!
Finally, one day I just stopped tracking everything and let my tummy be the guide…I stopped eating by the clock and started eating when I was hungry…What a concept!!
Plus I started following along with the PN habits…best $99 I ever spent!
Anywho-Here’s today’s training…it’s kind of crazy my shoulders are still achey from Monday!! And today was shoulder day, which I really believe I could blend with back day somehow…
*5min warmup-eliptical
warm up ISO-shoulder press-40lbs
Just for fun I added back in a Repetition EXercise! (taken from WS4SB)
Flat BB bench- 85lbs-16,12,10
In a few weeks I’ll do pushups.
Standing shoulder Press-

Upright rows-3x12x15s(I hate this exercise)
Bent over lateral raises-3x12x15s
Incline Db curls-3x10x15s
Hammer curls-3x10x15s
Ab crunch machine-3x20x75
Side twists-3x12-10lb ball

Oh, before I forget here are my boring foods for today…

almonds
chicken
sweet potato
cucumbers
cottage cheese
pork chop
green beans
almonds
I’ve only been getting 4 ‘feedings,’ a day…I’m not too hungry first thing in the morning, so I eat around 830am, lunch is 1230, snack usually 330, dinner is at 6-630…If I’m absolutely starving before bed, I’ll have cottage cheese…but normally Im so tired at the end of the day, I pass out as soon as lay down to ‘relax.’ lol…
I thought I saw you mention that you were following th PN way of eating now. I was trying to research your blog here and confirm that. I have been thinking about purchasing just recently.
Just need a little direction even though I know what I should be doing, and giving myself a kick in the butt and find that motivation again. Trying to do some reading again and find that motivation, but not many women are posting like we used to and getting the support that we gave to each other.
