A Work in Progress

Something I learned reading through the PN kit is that SURGE isn’t for everyone, especially is your are sensitive to carbs(duh, I already knew that) :stuck_out_tongue:

This head cold has been kicking my butt…nothing exciting to report…

However, I did do something kind of crazy…I signed up for the Lean Eating Program on the PN site! The duration is 6 months.
I’m not looking at it as a miracle cure, but rather a course in nutrition that will help guide me toward that ‘magic,’ combo of good eating and exercise to finally start getting the results I’m seeking…I have high hopes!

I will use this log to update my adoring fans, haha!

Hey mom in md, thanks for the support in my forum, I have no idea where that guy came from or why he even posted there. It really irritates me for some reason though. He reminds me of that guy I think his name was Kenshi telling all the woman here to do the starting strength program. Anyways good luck with Lean eating.

That’s a great step for you.

I am starting to feel better…what started off as a head cold, turned into the flu! I couldn’t eat without my tummy hurting, coupled with a massive headache = me laid out on the couch…I think the worst is over though…

The program I was talking about kicks off on the 24th! Just in time for Thanksgiving

Ironically, thats the day I take my personal trainer exam…ya, me a Personal trainer!

I haven’t revealed this to anyone here, but I have been studying all along for this exam…It’s what I’ve always wanted. I just don’t ‘look,’ the part (yet) And I’m still getting my sh*t together mentally…But I would love any opportunity to help those that have been in my shoes, so there ya go…My next cert will be in Nutrition, and the next one after that is Group Fitness  And I’m currently working on my Associates in Sports Management!

So there ya go…you now know all my secrets!

So that is the online stuff you have been talking about, may I ask who you are going through? Does the GI bill cover it all?

Well ya, Im taking courses online for my degree…the study materials for the PT cert were payed for by the Navy…they were doing this program helping spouses out with ‘portable careers.’
Oh, it’s through ACE. I figure it wouldn’t be bad to have something like that on my belt…Ultimately I would like to be a P.E. teacher, and a personal trainer on the side.

Heres a link, just in case there are those that are linking that happen to be military spouses!

What’s the exam like? Is it written or do you do stuff?

It’s computer based, but I believe there are some calculations thrown in…theres also simulation exercises.

Well, tomorrow is test day…think good thoughts for me!!!

I’ve been cramming all weekend, hoping that I’ve studied enough…I’ve read this test can be subjective, meaning theres like one wrong answer and three right answers and you have to pick the answer that is best or most correct…

I hate that. Basically it doesnt matter what YOU think, you pick the answer based on what THEY think, ugh…

Good luck!

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR TEST.

Been silently reading for a while…but had to say good luck with your test.

Oh, THANKS you guys!!

I PASSED!!!

But it was such an adventure just getting to the stupid place(two hours away) By the time I finally found it, I was so tired and pretty stressed…but I passed!! YAY  And funnily enough, nothing I studied was really on the test…it was pretty much a practical exam, and lets just say it would been easier if I had already had experience working in the field…a lot of things were a ‘what would do,’ type questions, but you had to think more along the lines of what ACE would want you to do, lol…

So now what? hmm

Well, still trying to get my butt in shape so that I can at least look the part of a PT. As I said before, Im part of the lean eating coaching program(precision nutrition)and have very high hopes…plus I got in touch with one of the personal trainers at the gym recently to talk and see what he could do for me…He’s a bodybuilder, so that would be interesting

Congrats!

I’m curious what was on the test for ACE, was it just one exam? Was there a lot of scientific and/or practical (like doing exercises for example)?
I’m asking just for a comparison to my certification.

Man, this cold won’t leave me alone!! Just when I think I’m getting better…I was laid out on the couch with a fever and a throbbing headache yesterday! At least it was the day AFTER the test…makes me wonder if its my body having an adrenaline crash or something…

Anyway, yes the test was very practical, and had lots of scenario type questions…'what would you do if so and so wanted to use ___
to questions like what muscles are being worked in the concentric phase of a leg press?

there were calculations for determining body fat, and for what weight the client would be at if they lost a certain percent of weight…

I was surprised at how many questions there were that dealt with nutrition…From all the studying and reading I’ve done, if you aren’t certified in nutrition, as a personal trainer you should not be giving out advice, at least according to the manual…I got the questions right, but still…there was a question about a person who slows down during the last leg of her run, and how much you should up her carbs…

Oh, there was also two simulation problems…you read the scenario, then you pick the best answers.

Trick question. The correct answer is, “Why the hell would anyone in her right mind run???”

Hope you’re feeling better, and good job on the test!

I know right? lol!

I am feeling better, thanks…I braved the store today and it wasn’t that scary, just me and the other procrastinators, :stuck_out_tongue:

In doing some more research of this Personal trainer Im going to meet with I came across some pics, and thought I’d share…

Not too shabby, eh? Apparently he has won some pretty hefty titles, so thats pretty cool…I figure he may know a thing or two about building some muscle :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Plus, he trains his wife!
