Ok, I’m not a FULL member, since that requires the purchase of the PN system. It may be worth it as an early x-mas present to myself though
I made the coconut chicken tonight, but it didn’t turn out like I imagined…I couldn’t find shredded coconut anywhere in wal-mart, so I settled for an actual coconut…the hubby had a fun time cracking that thing open!
Something else I couldn’t find? Quinoa. Is that not found in a regular store? shrugs
Look at a store that sells natural foods. Usually it looks like a candy wall but with healthy things with steel oats, quinoa, flax seeds, granola and other yummy things. Coconut should have been found in the baking aisle. Did you find the coconut butter?
The question that I don’t know is how MUCH more do I need? There are so many ways to manipulate the diet, and I think that’s where my frustrations have mostly been. I’m scared to go up, cause I’ve got it drilled in my head that less is better…Even when I had the online trainer, I was at 1400-1600cals a day…
But I don’t want to count calories, I just want to eat enough good food at the right times but in a way to still create a deficit…I guess THATS the part that is stumping me.[/quote]
I have found that counting calories the other direction (trying to eat enough,) especially if you are doing the whole low carb except post workout, is really kind of fun. But you have to make sure that you have it in your head that the only way you are going to get stronger, put on more muscle, and increase your metabolism, and thus lose fat, is by reaching your calorie goal.
You can do it!!! Just tell yourself that you don’t want to be anything like the waif cardio girls so you’re not going to try to eat like them either.
Just a quick after thought, I am going through a ton of protein powder to reach the protein levels that I need. Do you already get the low-carb Metabolic Drive? It is the best.
Ah, that’s where I figured I’d find it…
Nope, couldn’t find the coconut butter either, but I found coconut oil…hmmm
Maryland is weird! I looked up and down the baking aisle three or four times…knowing me, it was probably right in front of my face!
Haha SB…I’ve never had to talk myself out of being a ‘cardio girl,’ LOL!
I’m thinking of getting the PN kit just for the added bonus of being able to ask questions. It would be as close to having a coach as you could get without paying monthly.
Yep, I have some choc. MD in the cupboard…haven’t made a shake in forever though Time to dust it off! I will be getting the vanilla kind too, along with some Surge…
Are you using Surge yet, SB?
I am feeling more confident than I have in awhile. I am going to raise cals by 200 every two weeks until I get to where I am supposed to be at…Just nervous is all. I’ve gone DOWN in cals before, but going UP is slightly counter-intuitive for me.
I went ahead and got some SURGE…
I think it will be a good thing to have for after training. I can drink it on the way home, and still go outside to chase the kiddo around, come back home and make us lunch
Guess what they had at the local store here on base? Shredded coconut AND Quinoa…who woulda thunk it?!
Tonights dinner was Rosemary Salmon w/grilled asparagus…and I made the quinoa, cause I had to try it of course! Even the baby liked the whole meal! Oldest son wasn’t too impressed, but he’ll get over it…
It makes really happy to cook for my family and to see them enjoying healthy foods!
Since Oct 27th, I have lost another pound, an inch around my rib cage and a half inch around my waist…the butt is always the last to go!
Since Oct 13th(almost a month) I’ve lost three pounds, and about 5 inches total! I tkinda sucks that I’m having to re-lose the pounds that snuck up over the summer though.
But I’m still happy, because I’ve been eating more, and adding carbs back in after my workouts and STILL lost! yippee! The only other difference is that I’ve stepped up the cardio, and from now I will be doing intervals on cardio days, and 20 min fast paced after training.
I am toying with the idea of my next program…any suggestions of where I go from EDT?
I was thinking of the SHUT UP program, doing the three day split T-Thurs-Sat w/20-30 min fast paced cardio after.
M-W-F would be 20 min intervals, followed by 20 min steady state cardio.
Sunday is either off, or a long walk
And I have a confession. I ordered the PN kit!!
I felt like I was missing out. And I think the added support of the forums will be awesome!!

The PN website has a lot of great ideas for programs. I would definitely look through it to help decide what to do next!

How long did you follow EDT for? How much were you able to increase in higher reps/weight from the first session to the last?
Good, stick with it. I believe it’s 20%, but if you are increasing by 10 reps, I’d add weight. Keeps things interesting.
Don’t start thinking ahead too much, just stick to what works. You can always change the pairings after a few weeks if you get bored. And if your body is feeling trashed, take a week off from weights and just do intervals and circuit work, with good intensity.
I believe that the intensity is key to making steady progress, just keep it up.
PN is a great system, I’m glad to hear you are finally eating more.
Sorry, Surge lovers…I got mine in the mail just as I was getting ready to leave for the gym…I whipped some up to take with me. I drank it after on the way home, and almost threw up…UGH!! I don’t know what I was imagining it to be like, but it is TOO sweet!!!

What kind did you get? When I placed my order for Flameout and Magnificent Mobility, my raspberry was on backorder I LOVE raspberry Surge. Though you’re right…it takes a bit to get used to.

That’s funny. The first time I drank it I didn’t really understand that it was really sugary and so I had mixed it with chocolate milk (I was clueless). I suffered through the sweetness in my attempt to be hard core and ended up with a terrible gut ache.
I get chocolate and LOVE it (with water of course) but the other flavors are way to sweet for me too.
