A Few Pain Problems

I have been having a few issues, and am hoping someone else has experienced these, or could give me a more complete explanation. I am 18 years old.

Ive been training with a serious mindset for a few months now, and am having some issues with my legs and knees. I have made SURE that I am squatting with proper form as I have been watched by serious lifters in the gym who have given me the O.K.

I am feeling a strange feeling in my knees. It isn’t a pain, but its a feeling like they are weak or fragile, and it has been there for about a week now.

Also, my inner legs are now RIDDEN with pressure bruises. I am assuming the culprit is squat related because I have reached a very big “pinnacle” with my squatting and have been able to just keep amping the weight lately, and have reached my highest at 235.

Is this just my body’s way of coping with the new strength development or should I be worried? Thanks Guys.

Try a pair of knee sleeves. They add warmth to the joint and provide a small amount of compression. Look into Tommy Kono or Rehbands. When I first started Olympic lifting I was squatting 3x/week, and my knees often felt sore and weak. After I bought knee sleeves this discomfort went away. Its not just therapeutic, but a good prehab measure as well.

As for the bruises I have no idea dude. Good luck.

Tried stretching? It works.

Is that 235 a single rep? What’s your overall training like? (split, reps, to failure, whatever)

235, 5x5.

And yes, I stretch every off day and light stretches before I work out. Maximum flexibility is one of my main goals.

Sorry also,

My training is full-body. I use Chad Waterbury’s programs but adapt them to my own. I rarely go to failure and switch reps and sets every session.
