This is from this past weeks Bench workout which really went well.
It was the beginning of my preparation for the IPF/NAPF North American Bench Press Championships in Costa Rica this September.
I will be competing as a member of Team USA and I am really looking forward to this competition. Hopefully all the workouts leading up to this meet will be as solid as this one was.

Next week we do bench shirt work!
Have a great day & USA all the way!
525x2, 475x6 Bench Press (RAW 2 Board)
Great lifting and good luck as a member of TEAM USA. Bring home the gold to USA.
Nice bp. 475x6 I would think translates to more than 2 at 525 but nevertheless most impressive. I need to test out my reverse band press on my 2 board now and see if I’m still hanging with you or not

Thanks saps
It probaly should but aall I was aiming for was 2, because this week is a shirt week.
Also I tried the 315 2 board burnout and it was AWESOME!
I did it at the end of a workout, when I was completely gassed.
Here is the video of my 315 2 board for max reps. It was a great idea and I will definitely be doing this again soon!
Awesome BP. Yeah when I started doing it I was getting like 12-13 reps but over time my endurance or whatever you wanna call it increased. It certainly becomes a pumper and a super finisher as you said

I agree and I would call it getting STRONGER!
I did 335 for 14 tonight and forgot to turn the camera on. Oh well I will try again next week.
I really appreciate the great idea you gave me, Thank You!

Yeah its funny how different people’s strength curve levels are. Maybe you do more during training and are more fatigued when you hit your 315 set. I think I’d only be good for 3 maybe 4 with 475 on bands but I have consistently been in the low 20’s on 315 rep outs at the end of bench day.
All in all I still consider you the rabbit I hunt. 525x2 is more than I’ve ever done but I will try tomorrow and we shall see. Have not done reverse bands in a few months should be fun.

BTW you got the iron woody bands too?[/quote]
Yes
I have the iron woody bands #5 Large
I ordered mine from liftinglarge.com
I spoke with Mike the owner and he reccomended the #5 because anything more would be too strong.
He was right and the bands are almost exactly where my competition bench shirt lifts are.
So I feel I get a really good carryover from bands to actual bench shirt lifting. The only problem I am currently having is breaking in my new shirts, which are really not very cooperative at the moment, but I am working on it.
I hear you on that BPG. I ordered a Metal IPF King presser back in April used it twice and sent it back. Elite was pretty cool about it. I guess since I have ordered “enough” stuff from them they did take it back and gave me a credit to my account which is almost like getting your money back I suppose. It was the weirdest most awkward thing I ever wore. I know it was sized wrong but there was something more than that too. Probably going to look at a Katana now instead.
Yeah I got the woody’s myself I think I got #2-#5 So super-mini thru large.
So in honor of you BPG I will try the reverse band press next ME bench day which for me is either today or tomorrow.
Wow what an awesome feeling; the reverse band 2 board press. I’m sorry I don’t have video of this. We got the gym and I didn’t have the gf film any warm up sets. So when it was go time she tries to turn the camera on and it says warning low battery and powers down right as I lay on the bench. Very sad. My next ME bench day won’t be till next week some time so I will make sure to video it then.
Anyway, so I used my IW large bands too. Wasn’t sure about them so I did 495x5 after warm ups. Felt like I could have hit 7 but didn’t have a spotter and I didn’t want to over fatigue before my 1RM.
I then did a single at 545 and a single at 585. I had a spotter there who said he didn’t touch it but I kinda think he may have. My gf said his hands were under the bar but she didn’t see him touch it either. About three inches off the board the weight felt lighter for a moment so who knows. Maybe the band was helping. I then put on an even 600 and got crushed. Totally needed the spotter then. So it appears from spotter and witness that I did hit 585x1 off my 2 board today. I then dropped down to 405 and repped out 24 off the same 2 board, dam I wanted that last one too for 25 but the gas tank was empty.
I had never done the reverse band press with the 2 board. My to the chest reverse band was around 505 or 510 I think back in early June. Its amazing what those little 3 inches can do.
Anyway, BPG I again want to thank you for setting the bar for me to follow. Promise to have video for ya next time
