I was just watching the Brad Gillingham DVD. He works up to 380x6 in what I would term a wide grip bent row from the floor.
Now, this weight is clearly not killing him, but he is working. I know Brad personally and he is without a doubt one of the strongest men to walk the planet.
So, you are going to tell me you are stronger than him?
The only context I can accept this is if your “rows” are just basically bent over shrugs, which I see lots of wanna be BB’s doing in the gym, often times with 4 plates and up. However, this is not a row, it is a modified shrug.
Most of them couldn’t row 275 from the floor for reps. I know b/c I became friends with one of them and he worked in with me one day and I out rowed him pretty badly.
if the videos questions were aimed at me…i’ll see what i can do, but at our 24hr Fitness video/picture taking ar a big NO…we do sneak some videos/pictures(see attached) in the locker room every now and than, but i’ll have to figure something out for out on the floor…
…and i’m not sure who that guy that was mentioned is, but at 270 pounds i just hit an elevated t-bar row of 500 for 3 and a seated row of 500 for 5 yesterday…and it’s just as uncommon here as it is to you guys, after every set i look up to find an audience…
Some people need to get out more, at 225 have hit 300 for quality reps in the bb row, there’s a guy at my, gym hitting 400 for solid reps and as of yesterday saw a 67 kilo guy hitting 400lb squats ass to ground, actually was 425 and was doing then with power!!

Gillingham is a 2 time IPF World Champion SHW powerlifter.
I really don’t care how much you weigh or what you look like in a wife beater.
The reason you have such an audience is probablay b/c you are training at 24 hour fitness.
I did not say it was uncommon, b/c this thread made me acutely aware a that several guys on the internet are doing it.
I just said it was improbable. Keeping in mind I am describing a row where the reps start at floor level and the torso remains very close to parallel with the floor throughout. Not some modified shrug.

still don’t know who Gillingham is or care for that matter, but more power to the guy for doing what he has done…and i’m not doing this on the internet, i do it in real life…going as low as possible and as high possible…i’m not gonna lie and say they’re all perfect reps…but they’re rows, not “modified shrugs”…from the sound of things if i said how much i shrug some of the people here would shit themselfs…
I have been around the sport of powerlifting for almost 20 years. Nothing you can tell me would make me “shit myself.” You sound like Professor X Jr.
I see wanna be BB’s shrugging ridiculous amounts of weight moving the bar about a quarter inch all the time. I probably don’t need to hear about yours.
That’s the point. All this shit is entirely subjective and at the end of the day who really care how much you can row. It’s like discussing a squat max with a guy who quarter squats. You are basically speaking a different language.
Bottom line, whatever.

It’s the fourth time I’ve ever done barbell rows with 400 pounds.
Evidently cheated, but nothing special, just a bump at the start of the movement.

Like what has pretty much been already said, post a video. The whole range of motion question in all movements is up for debate. When you talk about Rows, well that’s even more subjective.

??? What’s the point of doing the rows from the floor?
There is a guy who trains at my gym doing 225lb 1 arm rows for 8 reps (full ROM). He is insane, and I wish I could do that as long as I didn’t have to weigh near 300lbs
i was wondering what kind of body titl you maintain while doing your rows. at a BW of 185, the static strngth your low back would need to hold your torso anywhere near parallel to the ground would be mind boggling.

You state u have been around for 20 years in powerlifting and you have yet to see anyone working between 300-400lb bb rows, except for the guy you use as a example, well I have been too and i have seen numerous guys in gyms around the world using that working range.
There are a lot of lifters who either don't enter powerlifting or bodybuilding events yet they are as strong as a bull, you speak about wanna be bb's shrugging heaps of weight, is that like powerlifters squating heaps for a piss weak range of motion?
In re to the video aspect why don’t some of you guys actually go to a real gym and see it yourself or how about you train real hard for a lot of years and perhaps one day you may be doing them as well.
I never said that dumbass. Go back and reread what I wrote.
Now go away. You are annoying.

I have been training powerlifting/bodybuilding/strongman whatever you would like to call it for a long time and yes i don’t know his name, glad he trains.
Here’s a hint for you, have a look in your dictionary for ‘‘weak as piss’’ that’s you.
