Speaking of policing, now I have to watch my speech around here, for fear of some tough guys putting me in my place. Right?
FUCK YOU!
Do you need a hug or something?
I like your anger, embrace it, it will make you powerful…
Everyone’s tough on the internet; much different than when they’re told to throw their fucking hands up in person.

Hey, just for me, can you just throw a “nasty cunt” insult out there? Please?

I’ve never really seen db rows as a primary lat exercise, it doesn’t make sense. kind of like incline pressing for lower chest.
the db row is for back thickness. thickness = lower middle upper traps and rear delts
Same here. I don’t bother with rows for back(lat)width… Why should I? Much more effective exercises out there for that. Most rows work much better for thickness than for width, especially with scapular retraction/shrugging the shoulders back and pushing the chest out… I’ve written about that before, when doing a BO row rep I sort of do it as if I wanted to get into PL bench position/setup (shoulder/scapulae-wise etc) and then reverse that on the negative.
Besides, as long as you get a good stretch on DB rows, you’re still going to get quite a bit of lat-growth out of them… At least I do.
But this is a topic like Pullups (you MUST always do them full-range! Else you’re… doing them wrong! Yes! Wrong! The articles say so! And why would you want to do a pullup for anything other than the sake of doing a pullup!) and the smith machine (It’s the devil! Really! It’s going to screw you up! And it’s all the machine’s fault!)…

That’s why most people own firearms, why bother with using hands when your opponent isn’t.

THE only 300 lb db rows I have ever seen thus far. If people have vids of heavier weights, please post a link so I can be inspired to row.

Waylanderxxx, I disagree. But it’s opinion. I believe Dorian was the best bodybuilder that ever lived. He actually used looser form, explosiveness, and heaving earlier in his career on back exercises. He said he got better results when he got stricter with the form in rowing exercises. Anyway, he had to back off a bit on the jerky movement ever since his bicep tear.
Bricknyce, I disagree mainly because Dorian tore many muscles including his bicep and triceps, he was not the best bodybuilder. Also, it was his looser form earlier in his career that allowed him to use stricter form with any appreciative weight later on.
Anybody who can bitch about a 300lb DB Row needs to find a new sport like ballet.

Then disagree; it’s a matter of opinion.
And you don’t KNOW that his earlier, looser form allowed him to handle the poundages he did with clean form. Maybe it did; maybe it didn’t.
I came across as form police by saying, “that’s not clean form” and “that’s loose form”. Yeah, sure.

I don’t care to argue this. Why can’t one engage in shoulder extension AND scapular retraction and depression at the same time? I do it all the time with my rows.
AND TO EVERYBODY… WHEN THE FUCK DID I SAY THAT WHAT HE DOES DOESN’T WORK FOR HIM?
I’VE SAID IT OVER AND OVER… IN THIS FORUM AND IN OTHER THREADS… THAT MANY OF THE GREATS HAVE USED LOOSE FORM… AND CLEAN FORM!!!
You never said specifically it doesn’t work for him, however your pissy little post about what ‘strict’ form should look like insinuated that this is how you should row.
You should have put your explanation above earlier for context, because you came across like all the other form police out there who bitch and moan about a little bit of body english, and that everything should be rigid and we should move like robots. This generally ignores the fact that the approximate movement will be working a significant amount of musculature that you want to target and subjecting it to high load.
I’ve come to the point where I don’t give a fuck how someone lifts a load; if they don’t get injured and are getting bigger in all the right places, who gives a shit.
You’re so sensitive. Maybe you should take a break from posting on these forums, not good for your stress levels.

Someone from IronAddicts.com did I think 310 lb rows or so, but they looked nowhere near as good and fluid as Kroc’s (though the man still is one strong mofo). There’s a youtube vid of that too…
