I finally hit 300 last friday almost got it twice. I hope to hit 315 in a couple more weeks. Lifting is not my main thing right now. It’s Australlian Rules Football!
300 pounds have been a long term goal of mine since basically the first time I tried the bench press. The only thing that’s changed is that it seems a whole lot more achievable lately.
I’ve worked on it on and off for the last 18 months and made a fairly big jump from 225-255 in the last 2 months. I think I’ll make a go for 260 in my next session.

looked way too easy, you could do a lot more I bet. Your squat and deadlift are far ahead of your bench right now-very strong on those- I bet you have close to 350 in you touch and go.
I am at 280 right now @ 155
I started benching in a weightlifting class last year and started at 145. I have been training different reps every week going from 4x6 @ 215 to a
1x8 @ 185 1x6 @ 195 1x4 @ 215 1x2 @ 235
or a 5x5 @ 205
Changing it up every week seems to keep my max rising. My goal is 400, optimistic, I know but, I have plenty of time to get there.
I hit 315 with a shirt, but thats not saying much. Im at about 275 and Ive been there for around 4 months now. I just started a westside based routine. Hopefully I will get 300 bye the end of the summer.
I hate to brag but, 365 for 8 reps @ 209 was my best last feb… squeezed a shirted 605 last may. I snatched 275, 765 squat(belt and wraps/no suit, missed 820 on a dead last meet,I hammer-curl 90’s @ 11 reps.
I’ve closed a 350 gripper, torn a phone book and two decks of cards in less than 2 minutes.
peace

You don’t hate to brag, you love it.
I thought my heavy bp days were over due to bad shoulder. It has felt good lately and my bench has gone up 30 lbs in the last 3 months.
At the ripe old age of 51 and a weight of 180. Last week 5x5 @ 265. My best bench is only 335…think I’m gonna get it shortly.

Do you do any shoulder re-hab
Not really. I am just nicer to it. I warm up more than before. If I feel it starting to hurt I will switch to db’s for abit or back off.

Squat and deadlift were always easier for me then bench. I have big strong legs and a strong lower and upper back. My chest was always a weak link and it has taken along time to bring it up. I can currently put up 310 raw at 205.
The weird thing is I can put up 275 six or seven reps and 250 for ten to twelve on any given day. If you go by the one rep estimate charts that would be an estimated 320 to 330 one rep max. I know they aren’t the most accurate thing, but still there is something amiss there.
I know it’s a weak link somewhere once the weight gets up beyond 300 and I believe it’s right off the chest and coming down to slow and burning out since the weights heavy. I will be correcting this over the next few months and my goal is 320 to 30 by summer.

Most likely you have a slower twitch make up (which, contrary to popular belief, may not be a bad thing - well, not if you like growing muscle)
Anyone here try cambered bar benching? Ive only tryed it once and it was great, but I heard that its perfect for breaking plateaus’s.
Got up to 264ibs for 5 reps @196 in the first year of training.should have tried to bench 3 plates but i never did.Had a shoulder problem so i stopped training for a few years. When i started back it took me 4 bench sessions to bench 3 plates @210.
damn i need to change up my bp training.
I never hit 300 until i weighed 230.
doing only slightly better now weighing 225…
At bw of 200 I’ve hit 375 touch and go and just barely missed a 385, tried twice and just couldn’t get it, though I got closer on the second try. I’ve had good success with Westside templates and even tried Waterburys TSP for bench the supramax holds are a little crazy to be honest, but I think help.
My goal now is 400 by June- giving me time to put some new mass on(currently at 185 after a summer cutting phase) and still have lots of time to progress on my bench.
315 was real tough to get to, took a long time and I think was messing with my head. 350 was another one that eluded me for a couple years. but considering my first max ever as freshman in high school was 85lbs at a bodyweight of 119 I’m doing ok so far.
i’m at 295 and i’m gunna get the 300 so soon i hope… then after that its 315 at 180 lbs
I’ve gone 300+ in a shirt, but 300 raw is still about 6 months away. Going for 275@180 raw pretty soon.
i havent done flat barbell in a couple years. I can however get 300 on the incline and decline. I did do 300 on flat but that was with a reverse grip.
I can bench a pair of 150 lb dumbbells. I weigh 175 lbs at 5’11.
