2008 Strength Goals?

800ish squat
600ish bench
700ish dead

I want to total elite as an APF men’s open 275 or 308 (or both).
Based on recent events, I raise to 850/620/750

Current:
BW 185
Bench: 230
Squat: 385
Dead: 385

Goals:
BW 170ish

Bench: 275
Squat: 475
Dead: 465

I know it will be tough to lose the excess fat and get stronger, but I have a whole year!

For May 2008 my goals are:

Weigh 210lbs (while being lean)
Front Squat 315
Deadlift 455
Bench 225 for reps
Perform 18 chinups in a minute
Broad Jump 2.75m

Snatch 130kg
C&J 155Kg

Are the two main goals. Everything else is extra. Probably Back squat 195Kg or so? Just sharpen up my Snatch and Clean technique and carry the Jerk form.

Id like to get my back squat up to 180kg and my front to 155kg, and for my O-lifts not to suck hard, at a lean 85kg.

romanaz, why do you want to get to 80kg? Going to start lifting as a 77 eventually?
Thats some hefty goals!

What are your current PB’s? I only put on 20Kg in to my back squat since last year to this year.

Your OLifts are good. You just have to make sure your injured and increase the weights.

By the end of 2008 I should like to have achieved: 100 kg military press (70 kg at the moment), 200 kg squat (140 kg right now), 200 kg deadlift (Also 140)

Also I hope to be a little leaner so I can do a few more pull ups and break 12.0 in the 100m.
30Kg increase on your strict military press? That seems obscenely high!

How many years experience do you have? 70Kg strict MP is a solid figure if your less then 90Kg.

This is going to be hard as I participate in indoor track in teh winter and outdoor track in the spring. Offseason is going to be short(summer and fall) but I’m going to try overreaching similar to the Super Accumulation Program by Charles Poliquin.

by then end of next yeah id like to squat 220kgs bench 165/170 and deadlift 270kgs
at 82 or 90kg body weight.

Current Lifts

Squat: 225x3 (breaking parallel)
Bench: 145x3 (a long time ago; touch and go)
Deadlift: 265x3

Other Stats

I’ve been lifting for 11 months.
I’ve been lifting smart for for 9 months.
I weigh 153, up from 123 11 months ago.
Chin-up: +35x2

Goals for 2008

Squat: 315
Bench: 225 (paused)
Deadlift: 405

The hardest will be the bench. It progresses at a snail’s pace. But, I think these lifts are all achievable, especially with my newbie gains.

Other Goals for 2008

Bodyweight: 188 without too much of a gut (35 lb increase)
Pull-up: +45x5

I would like to hit these numbers in a meet this year

750

525

600

april last year I hit 650 450 550 in a meet. I have made some decent progress in the gym 700 510 570 but we all know gym lifts are not comp lifts.

300lb bench. I’ve had too many injuries this year that my bench progress slowed to a halt. First it was my elbow, then my wrist, now it’s my left shoulder. I’m rehabing the shoulder now and doing what I can. Getting 205lbs is a struggle. The last week I’ve seen some progress with regards to pain. I’ve always had a left shoulder issue. They, a few docs, haven’t found anything wrong with it so there’s really nothing they can treat.

lose 10 pounds of fat, gain 10 pounds of muscle, and add 250 pounds to my abysmal total of 500 by the end of 08.

Current:
Bodyweight 162 Lbs
Squat 225
Bench 170
Deadlift 305

I’ve only been training for four months, so it will be hard to make a guess on one year’s progress, but I’m going to say:

Squat 375
Bench 255
Deadlift 455

And be a lean 180 lbs at 5’11.

I’m usually not a big fan of setting specific goals in the future with a certain time frame. I operate much better when I set smaller goals that I am more likely to hit on a consistent basis then by setting a goal a year or so in advance.

I’ve found that I typically can’t really know when to expect PRs so I train being constantly hungry for them and wait to see when they pop up.

As of December 8th, my raw (wrist wraps and belt) competition personal bests at in the 198s were

Squat- 375lb
Bench- 275lb
Deadlift- 512lb
Total- 1162

And I hope to, at the very least, hit the following in the 198 class at some point in 2008.

Squat- 400lb +25
Bench- 290lb +15
Deadlift- 545lb +33
Total- 1235 =73

-Matt

Clean and jerk 100kg up to 140kg
Back squat 190kg up to 220kg
Front squat 140+kg up to 180+kg
Bodyweight 85kg down to 79kgs
Snatch 75ks up to 100kg

I lift with a belt and knee sleeves only:

Current Maxes:
Bench: 242 lb
Squat: 319 lb
Deadlift: 419 lb

2008 Goals:
Bench: 275lb
Squat: 405 lb
Deadlift: 500 lb

Maybe I’m undershooting my goals but if so, then it’s all good.

AD

Currently:
Bench Press: 75kg/165lbs
Squat: 95kg/210lbs
Deadlift: 135kg/300lbs
(yes tell me how weak my squat is)
Power Clean: 65kg/145lbs
Clean and Press: 55kg/120lbs
Weight: 60kg/135lbs
Aims:
Bench Press: 100kg/220lbs
Squat: 120kg/275lbs
Deadlift: 160kg/350lbs
Power Clean 80kg/175lbs
Clean and Press: 70kg/155lbs
Weight:60kg/135lbs

Yes I do want to stay the same weight as much as it probably offends the T-Nation gods. I want to compete in Sub Grappling and the 60kg division is about my natural weight class. That and yes I am a 6 month BJJ white belt…laugh away

While your attitude drips sarcasm and may be taken wrong by many, we’re not as you think we are.

If you’re plugging away, hitting PR’s and progressing (in all aspects) then we’re supportive.

It’s when you become a troll or start getting too big of a head, or start being disrespectful or even not humble enough to receive advice (even “tough love”)…that’s when we turn the ravenous dogs out on ya.
