So since this IS the strength forum, what are your goals for 08’?
I’ll go first.
Finally get around to doing a powerlifting meet. I plan on doing one in March and November.
Lifting Goals by end of 08:
Squat: 250 kg (551 lbs) w/ minimal powerlifting gear (champion suit or power pants, belt, knee wraps)
Bench: 155 kg (341 lbs) raw, 175+ kg (385+ lbs) w/ a shirt (rage or rage x probably)
Deadlift: 215 kg (474 lbs) w/ belt, 227.5 kg (501 lbs) or more w/ a suit.
Other goals:
Get in better cardiovascular shape.
Either cut to 181s (loss of 8 lbs) for March meet or stay in 198s and bulk up 10 lbs to fill out the weight class.
Pretty massive goals, on the far side of attainable but it’s what I want.
I’m planning a full Smolov run this summer so I’m expecting my squat to jump. My bench is jsut a matter of putting the head down and training hard (I’ll have a Katana on the way soon) and I reckon I’m finally figuring out how to pull sumo so I’m setting the goal at 600lbs (272.5kg).
By the end of 2008 I should like to have achieved: 100 kg military press (70 kg at the moment), 200 kg squat (140 kg right now), 200 kg deadlift (Also 140)
Also I hope to be a little leaner so I can do a few more pull ups and break 12.0 in the 100m.

Nice! Our strength is similar but you’re something like 30 kilos lighter. Mind if I ask how quick you can do the 100 m? (I’m just trying to guestimate how low I could get it if I were to cut)
280/200/300 for 780kg at 100kg. Current best total is 700, up from 580 at the start of the year. Current gym bests are 250/185/280.
Become the #1 ranked junior in Australia, finish the year in the top 3 for the Australian open 100kg class and get a total that would get me in the USAPL top 100 for the 100kg class.

Doesn’t really now, last time I checked my time sprinting was in High School - 50 m / 7.0 hand-measured. Now I’m really into the whole explosive/vertical jump/sprint thing, so hopefully will check again soon.
