2 Months of Plateau

Don’t mean to drop in like this. Im new to this site but not new to losing fat. I have lost 49 lbs in the past year and it just stopped. it;s going on two month now and its more of a see/saw effect. I will drop to a low 217 then back up to 222 then back down to 219.
Im 49 years old, and losing my mind.
so I was hoping you can give me some pointers.
I consume 6 meals a day sometimes more to reach my cal intake (2,450 cal) I keep away from hi glycimic foods.
I am a deibetic so its easy for me. (did I spell that right?)
I work out 4 to 6 day a week depending on my routine and i stick to that for 6 weeks.

Abs 20min
weights 45 to 50 min
cardio (slow and steady 50 min.)
cardio (fast 30 min)
cardio (hit 10 20 min)
cardio after work out but not all tree at once.
anyway, if you or anyone else can help me.

my ratio is 40% carbs (low glycimic)
40% protein ( whey, skilm milk, fatfee cottage cheese, checkin, salmon, turkey,)
20% fat
cal consumed is 2,450 I burn off around 1,000 cal when i work out. that if the metters are rignt.
I know I should be happy that i droped close to 50 lbs and my waist size went from 48 to an almost 38. but, I think you get my drift.
After my program (4 to 6 weeks) is over i take a week off.

I work out at home, I have a 52.2 lbs Bow-flex bumbells and a bench (incline, decline) for cardio its an elliptical. I have two tears in my kness and a ruptureed disk in my lower back. I have been cleared by my Doctor’s a year ago and this past month my blood work came back fantanic.
All I want is to lose the fat by building the muscles. if I turn out to be a 47 year old Greek God then so be it.
Im not sure what else to add.
Im not on all the time so my response will be very slow, but my appreciation will be.

“I AM NOT ON A DIET, I AM CHANGING MY LIFE STYLE”

Hi mate - are you T1 or 2? How long since you were DX’d? What drugs are you on?

Good work on the weight loss so far.

To be obvious about it, if you are not losing weight you are eating too much. Drop your carbs further. If you are insulin dependant then watch what you are doing carefully and trust your meter. If you are on much more than Metformin (gliclazide for example) then also watch out as you can still go hypo on that too.

Your dietician will probably hate you for it but what do they know? I’ve got my 6 monthly appoinment next weekend - I can’t wait, I love a good argument. Last time it was “High protein diets are dangerous” - she struggled rather a bit when I asked her to prove it. In fact, guess what? She couldn’t.

Remember, some drugs for T2 will put weight on you. If you are on those sorts of meds then ask to get them changed. There are always alternatives.

Renton thanks for the reply.
the only supplimint that I am taking is creatine and whey.
Im not insuline dependent but you are right im on metfomin. With all the weight loss and proper eating my numbers are always in the good range. My A1C3 (how much suger is in the blood) as of two weeks ago is 6.2 anything under 6 is non-diabietc.

Eating too much, I was losing weight when I was told I was not eating (1800cal). than I started upping my cal slowly i started to plauteau. This was two month ago.
2400 cal
200g protien
200g low glycemic carbs
So for someone trying to burn fat by building muscle eating more seems like going back wards.
as for a dieticain my feeling are the same.
I want to find someone who knows about fat loss and muscle building.

I know this is only a small normal set back it’s just that I need answear to work with.

Once agin thsnks for your reply.

ps don’t know what T1 or 2 is besides the movie’s and no clue on what DX’d is. Sorry for being so ignorant.

Lol - DX’d - Diagnosed. When did you find out you were diabetic?

T1 or T2 - Type 1 or Type 2 diabetic. You are type 2 if you are on metformin or like me slow onset type 1

Either way the result is the same.

I’d try dropping carbs by maybe 250Kcals. It’s not much but you should see an effect I reckon. Also try reducing the cardio but replacing with HIIT and more heavy compound movements.

Your A1C is great! Exactly the same as mine after just 9 months. Remember though, below 6 is non diabetic yes, but once you’ve got this condition it will NEVER go away even if you are controlling it well. At least not until some clever bastard like Rusty Barbell comes up with a solution.

Keep eating clean like I know you must be and add some high intensity training. Should do the trick. Good luck mate.

DX in 2004, and yes T2.
My wife is also a T2 but she lost control and now were’s a pump. And when her numbers drop we all light up.
Yes, i understand once you get the big “D” you will always have to control it.
One blessing did come out of it and that it scared the living hell out of me.
I could not go thru what my wife does.
Lets hope for a cure, or someting.

This past week I started HIT in cardio and more intense work out. slow and steady.

I am not on a diet, I am changing my life style.
