Zercher with Fat Gripz for Biceps Recruitment?

Hi coach, along with crossfit I’m doing your strongman arms program. Alas I don’t have an axle but I bought some fat gripz. Should I try to zercher with these or regular barbell?

One way to recruit more arms and upper back is to do the unconnected arm version (arms in line with shoulders outside of feet)

Yeah I tried with the fat gripz but over 100 kgs it proved a bit slippery. The unconnected arm version was reeally hurting my left bicep so I’ll buy sleeves and retry

I made a sleeve out of 4” PVC or sometimes roll a yoga mat around the bar. Also I usually drape a towel over my shoulders and grab it to let me hold on to heavier weights. You can even do good mornings that way.
