your squat is moving along nicely I see .
good job sticking with the box-squats . I put them on the side burner for now , never pursued them as an ME lift . but soon .
however ,if you dont mind a suggestion…if it has been a while since you’ve performed regular , full ROM back-squats , you may want to think about starting them back up soon…depending on when your season begins . it may take a bit to get back into the groove of regular squatting ; but maybe not though , just food for thought .

I’m gonna switch back once I hit 365. For squat I usually set a goal for the boxsquat or regular squat, hit it and repeat for the other one. I’m really worried about my ab strength holding my equipped squat back more then anything. I feel all the loading on the squat on my lower back and my back starts getting a pump around my 225 set. Plus I think I’ll be able to bust my deadlift pr by adding some weight to my boxsquat

IMO the squat is a much more dynamic lift as far as how many joints move and how far in their plane of motion than the presses and such you normally see on a smith. If you’re squatting on a smith you’re feet should be a bit out in front of you, and you just drop down.
I don’t see why one would even want to though, it seems like a spine loaded leg press to me. I would rather just leg press. I’m loving the smith but I wouldn’t want to do legs in one. But many people much larger than I would disagree.

If I’m not mistaken then those larger people are mostly bodybuilders.
We do lift in higher rep ranges… I wouldn’t do low rep squats in the smith. Also, we set up differently for squats (bar position etcetc) than you pl’ers do.
Imo the smith rocks when it comes to front squats, even in lower rep ranges (do you guys ever do those? Seeing as the pl squat is more hams posterior chain in general…) And it allows for the two (or maybe three) best pressing moves for the tris (mass wise), as well as some great delt work…

PLers usually don’t hit the smith much. I’m sure some guys do to work around injuries, but I’m still a bigger fan of leg presses when it comes to leg machine work.
as far as machien work goes I really want to try some hammer strength stuff, and a hack squat machine. My gym is lacking good machines. We have a nice leg press and two (differently angled) smiths. I can already max out most of the other shaky ass machines.
probably gonna hit the gym around 6 tonight.
I felt liek shit so I layed down right away after school.
just threw up my dinner.
I will be combining upper body days this week
that is all.
i like the smith for squats, if u put ur feet in line with the bar it forces u to sit back alot to stick with the machine, got me a little stronger and didnt hurt spine or back at all actually felt better

this just reminded me that my gym has a plate loading hack squat - I think I’ll skip the Smith for warm-up

I really fucking wish I had a hack squat machine in my weightroom.
Fitness 19, $8/month
should I work up to 355 again today yathink?
high school weightrooms
0$/forever for anyone in the city.
Today:
boxsquat
225x3
275x3
belt/wraps
315x1
335x1
355x2
I called over a guy I know for a spot. He helped me on the first one. I told him to ease off and he barely touched me during the second one. I’ll consider then 355x1 as a pr and work on 360 or 365 next week.
it feels fucking good just to type out 365.
Glute hams
mex25PR
me+25x10 PR
Leg press:
workedup to 8 plates per sidex14 deep PR.
leg ext:
110x10
170x10
210x15PR
230 10x5x3 PR
Great day in the gym. That squat bar felt unbelievably heavy on my back at 355. I can’t imagine what 800+ feels like.
Gym is closed thurs and fri.
tomarow, if I get off work earlier enough will be press+pull
probably:
push
inclines for a heavy triple
smith shoulder press
smith tris
machine flys
pull
rack chins
db rows
cable rows
bices

6 racks with safeties. 10 bench presses with bar holers, 2 incline benches with bar holders. 6 plain adjustable benched in the db room, 2 GHS, 1 side bend/hyperextention contraption, DBs up to 100. 2 lat pulldowns, 1 cable row, 4 random extra cable pulleys, 2 smith machines, a plate3 loaded leg press, 2 cable stack loaded presses (very pussy), a inner thigh machine (see last), a leg curl machine (maxed it out ages ago), a leg extention machine (almost maxed out), chest press machine, flys machine, lower back machine, ab machine, curl machine, row machine, pulldown machine, and like 25 cardio machines.
Pretty decent.
I recently got to have some of the actual (and like only) decently strong guys in my school lift with me today. They both squat in the low 300s, and to depth. Which is pretty crazy nowadays. Both of these guys may join the team. Although I hang out with them sometimes so it wasn’t anything super special.
Plus one of the underclassmen asked me about joining the powerlifting team next year. That made me very happy.

wow well yea that blows mine away lol and yea if you can find anyone in my grade last year who couldt acually squat in the low 300s and was in the high school gym I would be suprised haha. Now this powerlifting team is it for your school by any chance? I dont think it is but the way it sounded i was like maybe haha. Also how high is your leg curl machine
