ZedLep's 'No Plan' Plan

I’ve gotten to the point where I want to have some fun at the gym, and some more flexibility. I want to try all the new recommended exercises, different tempos, rest periods, weights, combinations, super sets, everything.

So what I’m going to do is throw out my training plan, and replace it with a set of guidelines and principles. Here are some for now:

  1. ‘Hardcore’ sessions are full body, therefore at least one push, one pull and one lower body compound movement.

  2. ‘Softcore’ sessions are performed when not up to a ‘hardcore’ session. These involve isolation moves such as curls, and ab work. Gets blood and nutrients flowing.

  3. Lagging areas will be focused on first.

  4. Supersets will be used where practical.

  5. Maximum effort must be applied until performances reduces, at which point effort will be reduced, or a back-off week will be done.

So what are some suggestions from everyone?

Sounds fun, just winging it

I wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner, but if you are well-seasoned it seems okay if you are just a recreational trainer (without specific goals like a contest or meet).

I improvise a lot in the gym because the place where I train is a mess. I can’t always get onto the equipment I want to, or find the dumbbells I want to use (as ridiculous as that sounds).
