Yukon Glute Ham

Has anybody used one of these before? How does it compare to a nice GHR? I don’t really expect this to be top of the line, but for $200 I don’t mind modifying it a bit. It obviously needs a bigger footpad, but that’s easy enough to fix. Other than that it looks to me like it should be a decent GHR. Reviews? Comments?

I have one. It doesn’t compare to a real GHR. The pad is just a half moon piece of foam so you can’t actually do real GHRs on it. Also, the footplate doesn’t extend far enough to push your toes against.

I modified mine by taking the pad and cover off. I vertically placed 3 half moon pieces (circles I found at home depot were cut in half). I then put horizontal slats over it front to back making it look like a wooden half barrel. I found a piece of flat foam at a fabric store and glued it to the wood. I then recovered it with vinyl. I took the toe plate section to a welder and had the plates extended. See where the vertical post (where the toe plate part goes) meets the horizontal piece that adjusts the distance from the pad? That 90 degree angle had to be reinforced because the metal is thin. From repeated pushing with my toes against the toeplate, the post started to tear away.

After much time and a little expense, I have made a real GHR out of it. I have used a real GHR and it feels the same to me.

My advice is to save the $$ and buy a real one from Elitefts.

Where in KS are you located? I’m in KCMO

I really can’t justify $600 + shipping for a GHR. That’s about what I have put in the rest of my gym all together. Here’s my other alternative.

I have one and just welded a bigger toe plate on. I also duct taped more padding on as after several 250-300lb lifters using it, it got all smooshed down.

Good enough in my opinion and I have used the EFS ones. I paid $160 for mine, worth the savings if you don’t have a grand to drop.

I found it at freetilitsells.com through bestbuyfitness.com for $169. Shipping to my door will make it $206. Where did you get it?
