My arms are a lil over 17 and i 1 rep maxed the other day at 255. 1’m 6’4 and im DAMN HONEST TOO

Yeah there does seem to be alot of strong guys on this site lol
I find some of this hard to belive

Do you guys really believe benching over 300 lbs is a huge accomplishment? I started out benching 205 last summer and put up 3 plates yesterday for the 1st time. If I can get to that weight in 12 months as a 33 y/o, I don’t see why its so hard to believe for others who have been lifting for years.

Depends on the person I guess. The highest bench I got was 255 lbs and my shoulders almost popped out again. So for me, 315 lbs is a big deal. I hurt both my shoulders (right 3 times, left 2 times.)

While other lifts are easier for me. For example bb shrugs 675x10, (kroc) rows 200x8, pinwheel curls 100+ x6, but I just can’t do any type of benching without major pain/problems.
When we talk about weight expectations on lifts, we’re discussing them for a person without injury. Obviously if you have a shoulder injury, people aren’t going to expect you to bench an impressive amount of weight.

It doesn’t have anything to do with the poundage. It has to do with skinny little fucks claiming they can dead 700 when its really a fuckin’ rack pull, squatting 900 lbs with a 2 in. ROM, and bench pressing 300 lbs on machines or assisted lifts and telling all your “broskis” how strong you are while you all circle jerk to a can of MuscleMilk. Fuck
It’s weird, I sort of believe the astronomical deadlift numbers around here. It is the only lift I have come close to the speed which I got as strong as I did. I can’t press for shit, but can pull pretty good in comparison.

But then again I get trolled a lot too. I guess I’m gullible.

But for some reason, every time someone writes “ATG” after a squat, I pretty much instantly assume a power curtsy.

My goal is to get in the best shape possible and be well on my way to becoming a Pilot in the USMC by the time I graduate college in the fall.

Goal 1: 1,000 lbs club, deadlift, squat, bench
I deadlift around 405, squat around 340, bench around 315 so I think I got it. We’ll see

Goal 2: Enter the amateur, under 180 lbs body building comp in August.

Reality: I tore a pec a month ago, not a traumatic tear but definitely enough to put the breaks on training chest. We’ll see how my goals progress for the summer.

i would like to look like i lifted weights.

I know the thread is a day old but must say, good idea for a thread, having goals in place for all to see makes you strive harder to achieve them.
Thought I would post mine, My only problem is that I have ‘Gained’ a type II on my AC joint . so am out of action (lifting wise) for the next 5-7 weeks. Cardio bunny up until August…
Anyway -

Seeing as I will be unable to lift im expecting my strength targets to go down [Would be nice to not lose to much strength maybe less than 10% of my major maxes, Deadlift, Squat, Military Press, Rows, Bench Press and Power Cleans.
Would be nice to remain above 92Kilos / 202.5Lbs whilst dropping 2-4% bodyfat. Only time will tell (and as much cardio as my lungs will take [[Sadly my AC injury means I cant do my ‘favourite’ cardio - Concept II Rowing]]…

Got some vids of you benching?
How exactly did you injure your shoulders?

a decently sized deadlift might be believable, but the bench is the bench. I’ve seen guys DL
an ass load of weight, while on the other hand, struggle wiht 180.

and i bet alot of these trolls squat like the guy in the “Raping the Squat” thread.

do you mean you have seen people with big deadlifts who cant bench 180 or big deadlifts but cant squat 180?

what do you consider “an ass load of weight” on the DL? i have never come across someone with a big deadlift who struggles with 180 on either squat or bench.

To just not injure anything!

I mean in ratio to their bench, like a guy doing 315 for 5 on the DL but struggling with 180, excuse my dramatization.

that kinda sounds like me

315x5 isnt bad. its more than most gym goers can do.

but wow you must have some really long ass arms if you cant bench 180 but can DL that.

i think your deadlift should be AROUND 100 pounds heavier than your bench. give or take like 25 pounds depeding on tons of different x factors.

315 for 5 on deadlift isn’t a lot though… A lot of people get that within a few months of training, maybe less. Some people are just straight up better at pulling than pressing.

FWIW.

true.

i guess in retrospect my bench probably wasnt much better when i was doing 3 plates.

@ OP

just think, in a few years you’ll be able to bench that.

 1. stay healthy
 2. heal what’s hurtin’
 3. like the guy in the miror
 4. flat bench 315x3
 5. pull 400x3
 6. not get fat(ter) in the process
