If you could find out when and how you die, would you want to know?
No.
Not unless it was a health related issue that I could have the power to change.
Yes, if only to just keep myself more mindful of how I’m spending the present.
Yes. It would be liberating to be able to take risks knowing that you couldn’t be killed until a certain time.

Agree.
It is more fun this way.

heh heh! I hadn’t thought of it that way!
Leave it to Roybot to come up with that!
this is fun? not knowing when the grim reaper will claim his prize?
I would like to know, that way I could plan my plunder, pillage, etc -

I want to say yes, but the reality is that I know I’d be doing dumb shit everyday up to that day… My kids need me to be a dad and not off doing bucket-list crap…

Yeah, only because I feel like the thrill of risk goes out the window when you know you’re going to live. I mean, if you know you are going to be fine, hwo exciting is something?
Sky diving is thrilling because the shoot might not open. If you knew, 100% that it would open every time you jumped and you’d die years later of ink poisoning, sky diving wouldn’t be as thrilling.
At least that is what I think. I could be wrong.

I guess the fear would be that the chute doesn’t open and you live, yet you’re in a complete vegetative state until your death…in 2061.
Or worse, you’re completely aware and can see and hear but can’t communicate to anyone around you. Not even with eye movements. After your kids stop visiting, how many days before you wish you were dead?

With the threat of death removed, the thrill that comes with risk-taking activities would be dampened pretty severely.
To answer the question, no I wouldn’t want to know.
EDIT: Beans beat me to it.

I wouldn’t be doing it for the rush- the removal of fear would free me to engage in activities that I, and many others, would be too fearful to attempt under normal circumstances.
It would also be nice to know if I’d end up spending the rest of my life in prison, in a coma, or otherwise hospitalized, at least in terms of taking risks. Because if I knew I wasn’t going to get caught (or seriously injured), there’s probably a few things I’d consider trying.

Don’t get me wrong - if I was only told of the means of death, then that info would be crippling: I’d spend my life looking to avoid the inevitable.
And I’m sure there are many people who’d piss their potential away even when armed with that foreknowledge.

Well, that settles it, I’m never skydiving.

Man, that just hit me like a brick. You mention so casually about living until 2061.
I KNOW I won’t be around before that.

Well, assuming monkey paws, evil genies, boxes with buttons, sinister men in back alleys or other evil forces aren’t involved, you’d end up there anyway.

“What would you wish for?”
“Ignorance.”
