Your Clean Bulk Gains

^^ unless I skipped a post, I’ve read about guys doing clean bulks, but putting on fat still and I’ve heard people discuss the fact that you shouldn’t put on too much fat, but I haven’t heard a single person state how many pounds they were able to gain while on single digit body fat. Or did I miss something.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I did, I’m not gunna lie after about the second post my ADD kicked in and I started googling pictures of asian girls. But I’m back on topic now DAMMIT and want an answer to my question[/quote]

The point of this thread should be about the fact that <1% of the people here know their ACTUAL bodyfat %. Therefore any number is meaningless except for using it to compare changes made by each specific person.

You keep throwing out the words “single digit bf” like it has any real meaning. It doesn’t. I’ve already stated that I look much leaner than some people who get lower caliper readings. Kinda messes up the whole “clean bulk success” thing.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that most of the people making the best progress put little thought into the bodyweight and bodyfat % numbers. Gym numbers and pictures are more beneficial, overall.

^ Agree 100%. I was just hoping since this site seems to be filled with people who are concerned with their abs that maybe there’d be a couple people who kept their coveted six pack and gained muscle. Not because thats how I want to do it, but because I’m curious as to what kinds of gains these guys are actually making. But as already been stated, the lack of response shows otherwise. I don’t know why people are trying to lecture me regarding eating a surplus of calories to get big tho. I’ve already stated that for my body I know I need to do a real bulk to gain any sort of mass, been there done that.

The point of this thread wasn’t to learn how I can stay lean and build muscle, it was to better understand the body and know what is possible in regards to gaining muscle while keeping lean (which is relative, but I was really hoping to hear from the people who advocate not over eating or gaining fat to get big). I guess I assumed there were more people on this site with that mentality then there really are.

No, you assumed that people worried about abs are actually making good progress. Most of them aren’t. the rest won’t even post pictures. So, when you ask who has stayed under 10% body fat while gaining a ton of muscle, the point to take home is that the largest and strongest on this site DID NOT. The small guys who never stand out have.

There are likely TONS of guys here worried about abs and afraid to eat to grow. The thing is, that is the exact environment that LIMITS any further progress.

Well im not huge at all (5’11" @ 215 lbs) Ive made some good gains (by my standards) over the past two years.

I was 175 and in the Navy… I was always trying to get bigger but with the ammount of running/swimming I had to do for my job I could never put on much size. Then I started eating a TON more than usual and getting serious about my lifting and went up to 215. I think with all the cardio stuff I was doing my body was just starving for more food. My strength gains were progressing slowly (probably stunted from the crazy long hours and all the running and swimming) but when I starting eating as much as I could I gained without putting on much fat (probably also due to the run/swim pts)

I just got out last week so it should be easier to put on some more muscle without the required 8 miles running and 2 miles swimming every week holding me back. I’ve always been able to see my abs and I’m up to 215 now.

bonez2217 i have read a ton of threads on here and I have not once heard you say a none sarcastic remark. I know there are alot of newb questions on here sometimes but you were once a newb at one point to and for people to stop being newbs, they must gain true iron experience. Newbs must learn that curls for the girls, are not the best way to stimulate the biceps lol

But anyway, I think there are a few things necessary for a clean bulk as you dont have to put on tons of fat to get bigger but clean bulking will take longer to put on size

  • eat a big breakfast
  • throw in a few meal replacement shakes in between meals
  • eat lots of chicken, steak, salmon, haddoc, flounder, eggs, wgg whites,
  • eat your fuckin vegetables
  • sleep 9 to 10 hours a night
  • drink a big recovery shake post workout
  • and lift heavy and often
  • more than a gallon of water a day
  • consume amino acids

of course there are more variables but Im mainly talking about the fundamental basics

^ So have you gained a considerable amount of muscle following these rules??

^^ Good luck man, when I got out of the service my training was negatively impacted. Life got a bit crazy and I was working 80 hrs a week. So much so that my job paid to put me in a hotel right across the street for 2 months, so i can basically wake up go to work, then sleep, and start over. Not saying that’ll happen to you, but when your life changes drastically it can be difficult to maintain your normal routines. Keep your priorities in place and I’m sure you’ll keep gaining nicely.

How much were you able to gain in a year while doing this type of cardio?? 175 to 215, so 20 lbs a year, or did you gain more the first year?

Not to speak for Bonez…but he helps out when threads are made that aren’t retarded. If you make a thread bitching about stretch marks when there was a thread about it just five days before, don’t expect a serious response.

And curls are not for girls.

GTFO

Being from New York I’ll take that as a high compliment. So thank you. You dont know what youre talking about with regards to your opinion on my post content but that’s not my problem.

And I also find it amazing that I was able to tell you were a homo from mass. before I even looked at your location.

The real question is “R U Big?”

And the red sox are terrible.

No need to kick anyone while they are down…

Then what is?

Wait what is a CLEAN bulk? Eating non-junk foods right?..Exactly if the word BULK is in there regardless clean or unclean it’s still a BULK which means your goal is to get bigger regardless.

SO PLEASE tell me how does a “clean bulk” take a person longer to get bigger? If the calories are there it doesn’t matter. Most people don’t eat clean in a bulk cause they simple can’t eat enough of a high calorie surplus to meet the demands for the day/week to gain some damn weight!

For me to eat 3500 calories CLEAN (meaning no junk food just all sweet potatoes, rice, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, chicken, xtra lean ground beef, tuna, various fruits and veggies etc.) It’s not that hard for me to get 3500 calories in there from all that CLEAN food. If I wanna bump that up to 4000 I can just eat a handful of almonds, mixed nuts whatever and some beef jerky.

I think some of you are confusing clean bulk with smaller amount of food?

Good question. I seriously doubt dear Kevin is sporting huge guns though.

Prove me wrong.

probably from 175 to about 200-205… Over the past 6-8 months I have avoided the Team workouts and have been able to get up to 215. I mean its nothing super insane or unheard of but its definitely not bad IMO

I worked my ass off in the gym tonight, came home and had a bunch of giant assed ricotta cheese ravi-fucking-oli’s and EVOO and some wings (about an hour or so after my PWO shake of course).

Am I ‘clean bulking’?
