Wrist Injury

Soooo… two months back into serious lifting and I have screwed myself up AGAIN.

I have pain on both the thumb side and pinky side of my wrist on the outer edges. I have been doing weighted chins on a straight bar three times per week without stopping to realise that it’s a horrid position for your wrists to be in !

Anyway the pain came on very gradually over the last 48 hours. There is no swelling, tender spots or bruising and the pain isn’t very severe (5 out of 10 maybe) It generally hurts with movement rather than rest. I have ceased exercising my upper body so I dont stress the injury any further.

Does anyone know what I have likely injured e.g tendon or ligament?

Thanks guys

Anybody?? I’m shitting my knickers over here!

Dimebag,

You have flexor and extensor carpi ulnaris and radialis tendons on both sides of the wrist (in addition with some other finger/thumb extensor tendons) that are probably strained from that hand position. If you are able to perform pullups using a neutral grip (thumbs facing toward you) upon your return to doing them, you should avoid re-straining them. Good luck!

thanks bro. i’ll give that a shot.

Sorry to bump this. Its been three weeks now and although a percentage of the initial inflammation has gone its not anywhere near to being healed. I have been to the docs but they are a waste of time. What the heck can I do here? My gains are going down the pan!
