Wrestling Help (Losing Weight)

are you eating every 2-3 hours?
Look at Berardi’s 7 points, your choices seem to be healthy but maybe your not timing right. and I think your running to much and lifting too little. Maybe try low intensity cardio in the mornings on empty stomach or whenever possible instead of sprinting. Worry about getting your wind during the season. just concentrate on losing the fat and keeping/gaining the muscle.

Do the T-Dawg Diet 2.0 search for it and do that. That is a good idea for a basic meal plan that will help you cut that fat. Keep your workouts short and intense no matter what your type but you should have at least 2 or 3 days of rest were the only thing you might do is cardio.
I just read it, and I’ve followed most of them anyway. I only drink water. My only carbs come from fruits. I eat a blend of meat(or eggs) and fruit or vegetables with every meal. I don’t know my fat intake, but I assume it’s OK because I take Fish Oil, occasionally eat nuts (handful once or twice a day). My eating though isn’t really meals. I eat one meal before school, 4 hours later have some vitamins, meat and fruit, and fish oil(Basically my “post-workout” meal). Throughout the rest of the day I’ll just occasionally eat an egg here, some ham there, maybe an apple.

I have a low intensity morning cardio, I bike 3 miles to school everyday, and 3 miles back 4 hours later. It’s about 10 minutes after I eat, but I’d rather not do two cardio workouts in the morning…

Weekends are the days I take off, since I workout a specific muscle only one day a week, I don’t think I need to take more days off.

I agree I need to workout with a little more intensity, I think I’m going to start going to a friends house after school and workout again, maybe only 2-3 times per week. And for sprinting, how am I sprinting too much? I don’t see how it can be bad for me, and it’s certainly not making me too tired, and I don’t mind doing it.

I’ve wrestled since I was 6 and I have found the weirdest ways to make weight. One is, if you have somewhere that is indoors, and not “cold”, put on your coat and some heavy pants, and run laps. We do this in my school, put a stocking hat on, some winter clothes, and run.

Also, when you hungry (imbetween meals) have a sucker instead of eating. For some odd reason as well, my friend an I lost 2 pounds each, by getting in a bad habit of spitting. You lose water weight that is crucial for that weigh-in before a tournament. All that sounds weird but good luck!

Hey man don’t knock the spitting! lol I lost 2lbs by sucking on lifesavers and spitting into a bottle. Made weight that way!

If you are desperate you can try this (I’ve only had to do it once) but put on your sweats and jump rope in a hot shower. I was able to do this because in our locker room there was a large group shower area so I turned on all of the showers and roped rope for about 20min. You will lose a ton of water weight that way! (not the healthiest thing but you gotta do what ya gotta do)
I know you didn’t read anything but the Title, but I’ll respond anyway. It’s around 85 degrees outside where I live, and I usually run with a two jackets on and some shirts. I know how to cut weight, I’ve lost 5 pounds in two hours. I just don’t ever want to have to do that again.

The best way ive found to lose a couple of pounds is to cut way down on calories. a very light breakfast, light lunch and a decent dinner and chew gum between, but spit the juices out. this will burn some calories and not give you any back while giving you an oral fixation to keep you from snacking.

hey guys, I just thought of a few things that I’d like to add. I’m trying to eat around 30-50 carbs a day, and so my meal for today looked like this:

8am - 3 eggs
9:30 - 2 servings of beef, 2 servings of lean meat(fat cut off)
(sometime between 10 and 11) - 2 servings of peanut butter, 2 bananas
12:30 - a few pieces of broccoli
1:30 - 1 fat free yogurt (20grams of sugar), peanut butter on a banana(improvising)
4:00 - serving of old fashion oatmeal(30 grams carbs, 0 sugar)
8pm - 1/4 piece of lean chicken thigh

My first question is, is this too little, too much? My BMR is 1840cal, and my activity days brings it to almost 3000cal.

Secondly, I never ate A LOT of preserved meat before, and now I am getting way more salt than my body would ever need. Will this keep me from losing weight, or is all this salt just bad for me?

Also you can lose weight a hell of alot faster than jogging get like 3 swearters plus sweatpants or with sauna suit or garbage bag turn shower as hot and as high is it goes and jog in place and spit into cup. It sounds unhealthy but i think it;s better than getting weak drinking small amounts for a day and getting weak if you do it this way your dehydrated for 15 minutes than have 7-8 hours to recover.

I think it is always better to be dehydrated for as brief a period as possible I find the longer you maintain the lower weight the more strength you lose. And the point of being 157 at your highest is that is what you have to make before dual meet so you have hours to recover. Also you might not be as hydrated as me I am like 3 pounds lighter in the morning and am alot smaller than you.

By the way I am in ny what happens with weight is you make the 152 for a couple of meets than there is a 2 pound allounce and if you make 154 in the morning you get an additional 3 pound allounce in the evening so if where you are is different you will have to adjust. And also I am asuming you have perfect nutrition and are lean before you consider this no point doing this to keep a little extra fat that will only slow you down plus crap nutrition in wrestling season =zombie you.
Sorry for crappy writting I am really tired.

wow! I forgot about the extra weight allowance thing. I’m in florida, so running in the heat works pretty well. Wrestling starts Oct22nd, and ends in about Feb, depending on how well I do.

The 2 pound allowance starts after Christmas break, and last year I only went to 1 two day tournament, and it was a 2 pound extra allowance for the next day. Except no one told me that so I spent time cutting weight.

Hey guys, I just wanted to give this an update of where I’m at. I started on the Anabolic Diet mostly because I was eating 30 grams of carbs per day.

Last Sunday I cut a lot of weight and got down to 155, then I began drinking more water, and eating less carbohydrates, and when I got home today I weighed 156. After drinking some water and eating, I weigh around 158, but I feel great, and I’m not really denying myself too much food.

I don’t have the chance to workout more than 30 minutes, 5 days a week right now, but I make due with what I have. Yesterday I maxed out on Deadlift at 315. I really have no idea how much I should be deadlifting, but that was the most I could get. I maxed out on bench a few weeks ago when I was eating less and I got to 200pounds.

Are these average lifts for someone my weight(157) and age(16)? I know there’s no pictures of me up, but I don’t really need to critique my body right now
