There isn’t for this sport. Wrestling is an exception to the norm because of the weight classes in place. Skill can make up for a deficit in strength/speed as well (to a point). That is not the case in most sports.
There are also sports where the natural physical attributes of a girl are more suited to the task, but boys aren’t allowed to compete. (gymnastics, kicking, est.)

There are also a lot of sports where physicality is pretty even. Pool, table tennis, bowling, est. That there isn’t a mixing of the genders.

If there is a need for female sports then females should play female sports. (there is apparently female wrestling already)
Are girls really more qualified (“physical attributes” as you said) to participate in gymnastics then males?? how so? don’t give me flexibility reasons because that isn’t true for any male gymnast.

I wouldn’t really consider pool or table tennis to be a sport. bowling somewhat. Although I completely agree with you that these “sports” should not be gender specific.

I agree again with you that females should play with only females. However, if a female is truly capable of competing against a guy then why not? It is a KNOWN fact, whether anyone would like to admit it or not, but males ARE better than females at SPORTS. Therefore, if a female can compete with men then they should be given the opportunity. However, I have yet to see a female who can compete against males. (compete = on the same skill level as men and not just the physical act of competing)
No girls are not better at gymnastics. The top female gymnasts can’t even dream of doing the things the top men can do.

I agree with all of your post except the part about ping pong. It’s way more of a sport than bowling. Watch some world class video. Some amazing stuff goes on at a ping pong table.
It depends on the event. BUT do not forget that balance and grace and flow and body lines are a large factor. And those are things girls are naturally better at.

A million years ago when I was in HS I went to a BJJ seminar with some friends of mine. Anyway, there was a woman there who claimed to be the “head of security at the Mall of America” (probably a security guard…haha!) Anyway, she rolled with the men and was, technically, quite good. I remember when I was paired with her she might have had me if she had more strength (she obviously had had weightlifting training and was about my weight).

Anyway, long story short, my buddy* wrestled with her and she won. I’ll bet 362 internetz he let her win. Anyway, I lost touch over the years, but he ended up marrying her and they’ve got kids now.

So my suggestion is to wrestle with 'em!

 • Dude was a beast. Maybe 5’4" but was stronger than an ox. I once watched him bench 4 plates for reps, which was about a thousand times what I could do at the time. This was years before I knew anything about lifting, so I can’t really speak to his capacity…but a beast for sure.

Related but not really:

When I was in highschool, we had this kid (boy) who fought to play field hockey. Lot of local media uproar and parents complaining. He was a bit effeminate and frankly smaller than many of the girls-- wasn’t even a starter. He did play a few years though.

I’m not trying to make a point, but the story came to mind.

As far as the wrestling goes, I agree that it’s lose/lose for the boy involved. I know it’s funny to say he should have dry humped her, but on a serious note, in just the past few weeks there have been news stories of grade school kids getting expelled or had charges brought on them for sexual assault for less than that.

I have to echo a bit of On Edge’s sentiments. There isn’t an abundance of girls who wish to wrestle compared to the guys. If this sport is her passion, and the only avenue is to roll with the guys, then so be it. You aren’t wrestling a girl. You are wrestling an opponent that wants to put you on your back and get their hand raised. The BS about finding your hand someplace inappropriate is exactly that: BS. If you can’t make minor adjustments or just let that notion go, then stay off the mat. It’s not like those TWO girls made it to states IN FUCKING IOWA based on guys forfeiting left and right. Quit hiding behind the supposed “moral” shield and just say what really bugs you: your fear of getting beat by a girl.

I am off of that soapbox. I love wrestling, so I think it’s phenomenal they made it.
The guy she was going to face was ranked number 5, he wasn’t hiding he saved her an ass beating.
If he was ranked number 5, that tells me she was ranked either number 4 or 6, as seeding charts usually work that way. I’d have to research how big the pool is out there, however, I simply don’t buy that “moral” code nonsense. It just doesn’t wash.
The moral code thing is bullshit.

That kid knows as well as anybody that a forfeit is the worse than getting flat out pinned.

He found a clever way to rob her of the ability to compete and maintain his own facade of dignity.

You kids think this is something new? Andy Kaufman proved this point back in the 70’s.

Reminds me of when we encountered a female wrestler when I was in high school. Our coach said it best, “if she has made the decision to step on the mat opposite you, you do what you would normally do. Beat her ass thoroughly, then shake hers and her coach’s hands. She’s the same as anyone else that steps on the mat against you.”

The kid may have been religious though, we don’t know the entire circumstance. At a tournament I wrestled in, a kid who had to wrestle a chick was put in a nasty dilemma with his coach telling him to go out and kick her ass, but his parents reminding him that his religion precluded touching a woman who was not his wife.

The poor bastard did the best thing he could; wrestled her fast and hard, won in the first period, and then prayed for himself later.

Either that or the kid wasn’t saving anybody an ass beating. He was hiding from the off chance that he would lose to her because he would be nervous as Micheal Serra getting a blowjob, and she would tear him a new asshole while he was still shaky.

I personally agree with ^, just go out there and wrestle hard, and shake her hand when its over. And get her number.

Dude in my high school lost to a chick, ruined his life. Prolly hasn’t bounced back to this day.

Kid made the right choice

A friend of mine lost to a girl at a tournament. We rode him pretty hard for it, but he had the last laugh after he started hooking up with her when our entire team failed to pull it off.

I thought i read somewhere that the guy forfeited because of some religious reason or something like that.

This is what he said. “As a matter of conscience and faith, I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa.”
It’s this ^^^ they talked to the boys coach on the Dan Patrick Show…the boys father is a minister of a fairly orthodox church that forbids boys and girls from touching outside family or marriage.

Wimminz like to feel superior. He’s a smart guy.

I don’t see any issue with allowing girls to compete in sports with boys, provided it’s on their own merit and not some stupid publicity stunt (female kickers come to mind for the latter).

However, there should be no restrictions outside of the norm for the male, either. Don’t want your boob grabbed? Too bad. Don’t want some dude’s hand wrapped around your vag? Too bad. That’s part of wrestling and it’s what you signed up for.

On a final note, sucks for the boy. That’s a pretty strict religion.

well, she lost both matches today…lost 5-1 in the first, and got stuck in the second.

while i’ve never been in this situation, there are a couple females that train BJJ with us. one’s a regular chick (who is in really great shape and trains hard) and the other’s a pro fighter (who’s a purple belt and pretty damn tough)…can’t remember her name, though. anyway, i don’t like to roll with them, but i also don’t like to roll with dudes that are substantially smaller than me, either.

So only father-boy, priest-boy action is allowed… Fucking makes me sick!

they’re not catholic brah.

If it truly was for religious reasons, then anybody giving him shit should be ashamed of themselves, knocking on the kid for sticking to his beliefs. If he was bullshitting, and was just afraid to get his ass handed to him, that’s pathetic. Treat her like any other wrestler. If he was worried about getting in trouble of some sort for “sexual harassment” then I can totally understand, with how schools and society in general are about lawsuits. It’s not a simple situation.

She was 20-13 and he wasn’t the only guy who refused to wrestle her this year.
