Coach Knocks Down Player

I dunno…I know what age we live in but more than I’m troubled by anything the coach did, I’m left thinking this kid is a big pussy and we’re raising pussies. Yeah. I’m pretty sure that’s how I feel. The kid is a pussy.

I agree. The video obviously shows he wasn’t aggressive excessively. Any NBA game shows the same type of body checking.

The coach’s “kick” was definitely not aggressive. Looked more like a gesture just to send a message, not leave a mark.

It would be one thing if this was a high school practice, but this is at a D-2 College, we had much worse “abuse” by my high school & college football coaches and we wouldn’t have dreamed of reporting anything to the police or lawyers. It goes with the territory in a contact sport, if you can’t handle contact, or an intense drill, go play golf, tennis or run track there are plenty of options.

Sad thing is this is coming up more and more, my wife coaches basketball and volleyball and sees it daily, talking with other coaches at other schools it’s the same thing. I was covering a few games at an area varsity boys basketball game, and they had a couple kids who cried after getting pulled, and told what they were doing wrong, not yelled at, they were calmly told what they had done wrong and boom->waterworks. I realized I had to close my jaw and stop staring but I was in shock.

The coach looks like he wants to backhand the kid through the interview, I think I would too. Agreed completely BG, this kid’s a pussy.

Yea the kid is a pussy, they showed that interview on PTI and that kid just lacks balls. I went to a military academy for high school and if we had bitched like that after a love kick we would have been benched and ran a shit load. Regardless of the sport. There is a huge difference between a tough coach and an abusive coach

Most of the people on this site lack balls too. Any time some newb cries because we didn’t go along with their hyper-extension-bosuball-rear delt-calf raise…for traps, this is the type of person they are.

The whole world is like that now. It is now cool to be soft and pussified. Anything more aggressive than “passive aggressive” will get you labeled as “roid rage”.

Good point, that thread is full of the funny. The thing about this that pisses me off so much is this kids actions led to airing out his coach on national TV and probably screwed his coach in the long haul.

Kinda like how a local kids baseball team gave out trophies to the losing team because some of the kids were sad that they didnt get a trophy. Now days, my parents would be filed for child abuse for the way I was disciplined. God forbid you spank your child.

It looked to me like the coach may have been a little emotional, and out of control when he shoved the kid to the ground, but the kick was a nudge to get him fired up.

If the shove screwed up the player’s wrist, I can see why he is pissed off, but he said he went to practice so it couldn’t have been that bad.

I hope the kid grows up a little, realizes the passions that overflow in men, and lets it go, but the damage is already done. Ending a guy’s career over this and then having a sit down requiring 2 lawyer’s is crybaby behavior.

God this kid is a pussy. He is slouched over muttering and complaining like a fucking child that has just been spanked for the first time.

Grow the fuck up. When I was a camp counselor back in high school I would accidentally knock little kids around sometimes. I’ve seen 9-year old girls take similar physicality and man up better than this kid.

The worst part about it is the whole “investigative” journalism apparatus zeroing in on this bullshit. “Here is some woman who claims to be an expert on college sports”…analyzing the “kick,” etc. Ridiculous. Aren’t there enough real problems in our country that need attention right now?

Bobby Knight would be proud.

ftw

This explains all of the whining any time someone points out how retarded some newb is training or eating.

Maybe the gym scene lately is a better picture of society than I thought…a bunch of weaklings all congregated to throw dirty looks at anyone who looks like they take it seriously and makes progress.

I bet humans in 200 years are going to be fucking hilarious. Little blobs taking scooters everywhere after having any signs of testosterone surgically removed from their bodies…you know, so people stay calm.

Hehe! Watch “Wall-E” sometime.

One thing as an athlete you Never want to be called is “Soft”!

He is so soft and i’m sorry contact sports have contact! so man up, get competative, get aggressive, obvs he Never will go anywhere and good luck with Life buddy!

In all my years in many sports as an athlete and coach, I have seen way more contact, verbal etc… sometimes it’s over the edge but if you never went over the edge, you’ll never know where it is.
Almost always coming from a good place, as today’s kids are way to “Soft” period!

I know I always loved my hard ass coaches, they bust ya nuts but they cared and taught you what Life is really all about!!

I have been screaming this for a long time Professor X, we are a dying breed. The days of men being men are coming to an end. Guys like Dirty Harry, John Wayne, Charles Bronson, and Chuck Norris are being replaced with Justin Beiber.

Good thing basketball isn’t a contact sport

When we played Penn State in 1994, we lost 38-14. When the team got back to USC (it was an away game for us), the coaches made everyone suit up in full gear, and run the length of the field for each point we lost by. Needless to say, everyone was pretty gassed by the end of it. While we were running, he equipment manager put a Kotex in each guy’s locker, along with a note. The note said…

“If you plan to play like this, put this on your head instead of your helmet”

Fucking love John Robinson for that.

Yeah, Max, but every generation has had its “Beibers”.

Not replaced. Coexisting.
