Most of you are fucking idiots. If you are in a sport and a girl goes up against you you treat her as any other opponent. PERIOD. It’s disrespectful to her AS AN OPPONENT and your being a first class pussy.
That ref was an idiot too. He should have penalized her for being a bitch. If she’s going against a guy she needs to understand that everything a guy can do to another guy in a wrestling match he can also do to her. PERIOD.
To my knowledge if a sport isn’t available as a girls sport, a girl can participate with the boys. I see nothing wrong with this.
LOL at girls being better at gymnastics and and and kicking bahahahahahaha
I thought it was funny you kept capitalizing “period” when talking about the girl and being a bitch.
Sorry, I have forfeited a lot of matches (about a dozen over a decade of wrestling) when I came up against girls.

Things I had going on in my head:
I did not want to hurt her (Justification)
Given 1, I could not in good conscience go hard. (That’s what she said!)
What would happen to my reputation if I lost? (Possibly the real reason)
What if you popped a woody? As a high schooler that would have been my main concern.
Girls wrestling against boys doesn’t seem right but I have a solution - the guys just need to stop starving themselves and move up to a higher weight class. No high school girl would wrestle in the higher weight classes because then everyone would know how much she weighs.

It’s the avoiding movements that could be perceived as sexual in nature that bothers me about it. A guy with sour grapes might say the other guy cheated. A girl with sour grapes could say that he groped her or some shit like that.
Also, I haven’t done wrestling, but I imagine there are times where you accidently move your hands ‘places’ that you don’t want them not to mention you have to avoid the chest now and that could be very bad with an overly sensitive girl.
There could be guys that would try to cop a feel too which would be bad.
Not to mention, a man and woman of equal size, the man will usually have more power, strength and speed.
There’s just too much that seems wrong with this idea.
Men and women shouldn’t play contact sports together at any official level in my opinion.
My 22nd match was against a girl, I forfeited that one after I realized what I had gotten into, involved finding my hand in a place that it wasn’t supposed to be, so I immediately let go and took off the band on my leg.

THIS
When I wrestled, I never had to go against a girl. If I had, I probably would have cross-faced her a few times and then popsicled her for good measure.
If they think they can hang with men in sports, we have a duty to teach them that they cannot. LOL
i know this girl’s dad, and he competes in powerlifting and stuff like that (and he’s a good dude,a nd hella badass).
i don’t blame the kid for forfeiting, but what if she wins the whole thing, all 4 years? why bust your ass all season not to compete, especially in wreslting, where ya gotta cut?
this girls’ been wrestling since 3rd grade, so it’s not a novelty to her. she’s also a freshman, which makes her even more impressive.

Those aren’t sports.
I knew a guy who wrestled in highschool and not only got beat but was pinned by another guy I knows little sister. She was a bad ass chick and could do like 14 pull ups. She was hot, he underestimated her and got pinned. He still gets made fun of for it to this day.
I thought i read somewhere that the guy forfeited because of some religious reason or something like that.
This is what he said. “As a matter of conscience and faith, I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa.”
I have to echo a bit of On Edge’s sentiments. There isn’t an abundance of girls who wish to wrestle compared to the guys. If this sport is her passion, and the only avenue is to roll with the guys, then so be it. You aren’t wrestling a girl. You are wrestling an opponent that wants to put you on your back and get their hand raised.
The BS about finding your hand someplace inappropriate is exactly that: BS. If you can’t make minor adjustments or just let that notion go, then stay off the mat. It’s not like those TWO girls made it to states IN FUCKING IOWA based on guys forfeiting left and right. Quit hiding behind the supposed “moral” shield and just say what really bugs you: your fear of getting beat by a girl.
I am off of that soapbox. I love wrestling, so I think it’s phenomenal they made it.

The guy she was going to face was ranked number 5, he wasn’t hiding he saved her an ass beating.

If he was ranked number 5, that tells me she was ranked either number 4 or 6, as seeding charts usually work that way. I’d have to research how big the pool is out there, however, I simply don’t buy that “moral” code nonsense. It just doesn’t wash.

I had a friend like this also. He got caught in a side headlock and got pinned. I think he might have lived it down by now though.
In his defense the girl was a pretty sick wrestler. She would have beat me if she were anywhere near my size (I was 189 back then).
DoubleDuce wrote:
If women are capable of and should be accepted in male sports, then there should not be female exclusive sports.
There isn’t for this sport. Wrestling is an exception to the norm because of the weight classes in place. Skill can make up for a deficit in strength/speed as well (to a point). That is not the case in most sports.
There are also sports where the natural physical attributes of a girl are more suited to the task, but boys aren’t allowed to compete. (gymnastics, kicking, est.)
There are also a lot of sports where physicality is pretty even. Pool, table tennis, bowling, est. That there isn’t a mixing of the genders.
If there is a need for female sports then females should play female sports. (there is apparently female wrestling already)
Logic doesn’t apply to female sports, title IX and the rest.
I used to wrestle and I, personally, probably would not have wanted to wrestle a girl. People can talk all they want about fairness and equality, but there are SO many different ways this could go.
You beat her - “Oh, you beat up on a girl.”
You lose - “You got beat up by a girl.”
Equality does not necessarily equal being the same and that is what people seem to lose sight of in situations like this. If he decided he wanted to wrestle her and did, that is fine, but I don’t think he did anything wrong by forfeiting, either. I do, say, however if he did decide to wrestle her he should have handed her ass to her.
