The front squat doesn’t have to be done so cleanly lol. Nobody with a heavy weight is going to be able to keep remote thoracic extension/straight back, unless you’re a really skilled and badass oly lifter.

That is why I got too scared to front squat anymore. Cause Christian thebedeui said you were supposed to remain totally upright and I couldn’t even come close to that.

I find I can get to a \ and still complete a rep.
If you try to stay too | sometimes you / and then __
Most important thing is to lay off the fibre before squatting, or \ , can happen

Close Grip Bench:
45 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
260 5x Top set didn’t feel very good today so that’s all I did. Shoulder is being a bitch.
225 10x
225 10x On the other hand these backdown sets felt great! I think I worked my shoulder into a better position or something.
225 10x These sets were fast and easy.
155 20x
165 20x
165 20x Trying to find a good 20’s weight. I think I may give 185 a go next week. That’s probably the heaviest I ought to be going for 20’s on CGBP.
Floor Press:
185 5x
185 5x
185 5x So these were super ultra mega fast and explosive for CAT work. That’s a thing right? Does it work? Dr. Squat says it works.
Incline DB Press:
70’s 10x
70’s 10x
70’s 10x
Card workout w/ 2.5 pood KB swings, dips, blast strap skull crushers, and dumbbell increased ROM close pushups. Finished in 33 minutes 15 seconds. Never done it with three pressing exercises before. Pretty intense on the tricep endurance.
It’s 94 reps of each exercise, so that was 282 reps of tricep movements. TBH I don’t even think that’s a good way to train your triceps. It’s probably just a good way to develop tendonitis in your elbow. But of course we all know fuck your elbow.
Sorry for no vids lately. Since I stopped trying to go so PR crazy I haven’t really been taking vids. It’s been good for my training though I think to not chase numbers as much. I’ll just start taking vids of my normal training I suppose lol.
BIG NEWS:
Friday I am starting the Coan/Philippi deadlift program (really it’s just the Mark Philippi deadlift program; Ed Coan had nothing to do with it lol). Anyway I am super excited. I’ve never done it before. But I’m gonna finish it! Hear that? I’m gonna do it mom! I’m the best!

Super impressive bench endurance. You’re like a damn diesel engine when it comes to pressing.

I should have known this existed. Ah the endless bounty of the internet.
More excitement!
I ordered a log yesterday from Christian’s Fitness Factory. It shipped this morning!!!
Me and my training partner decided to just split the cost 50/50. Pretty beastly too. Weighs 134lbs unloaded. It’s a 10", which is fine with me. I could probably always just wrap some 1" thick piece of foam around it or something if I wanted to practice a 12" lol.

Fucking lol. I had completely forgotten about that show.

Fucking most stressful day ever at work. I was so happy to get to the gym and deadlift.
This is week 1 of the Coan/Philippi deadlift program btw. I am very excited about it.
Deadlift:
135 5x
225 5x
315 3x
405 2x
Speed Deads:
315 3x
315 3x
315 3x
315 3x
315 3x
315 3x
315 3x
315 3x
The program has you do the following lifts in a circuit. You complete 3 circuits total. I did them faster than it said you had to. I used roughly 30 seconds between circuits, and more or less no rest between lifts within each circuit.
Here are the lifts in the circuit and the weight I used for each of the 3 sets:
Stiff Leg Deadlift: 315 8x
Bent Rows: 185 8x
Supinated Grip Pulldowns: most of the stack 8x
Hyperextensions: 45lb bar behind my head 8x
Close Grip Bench: (training partner was doing bench again so I just kinda played around and did some very low intensity benching)
135 5x
225 5x
275 3x
275 3x
225 5x paused
225 5x Spoto’d
Kept everything beltless today.
Here’s my regular set from the program for week 1:
I am going to be filming all my top sets of the regular deads whilst on this program to observe changes in form primarily but also in speed. I will probably figure out a better angle next time to film from. There aren’t any really good places to set up my phone to get a shot from the side, but that is the angle that I really would like to look at.
Oh yea I also let it down really slowly cuz of that kid in the one thread talking about doing 5 second eccentric deadlifts lol.
Hmmm nice. One could almost say that you’re emulating Ben Rice.

Nice speed on the deads. How much you weighing these days?

Right at two hundo. I should really be about 185 or so. I’d look really good as a 181, but there’s just something about seeing that 2 on the scale… I can’t give It up.

That’s like how I know I should just cut down to low 170’s high 160’s and be less fat, but I love eating too much for that to happen
Your triceps look lame for someone of your swoleness. MOAR TRICEPS REQUIRED!
… Other than that, fucking awesome. I shall be slowly stalking you to 200, and your deadlift/bench. There shall be times of recomping, but I shall not drop weight until I squat 315X10, and deadlift 500.
