Wow, Csulli, I love how you trained your arms with somewhat high volume three days within a week on top of all of your dips/benching/overhead pressing. How are they feeling at this point ;)?
They were sore lol. I actually didn’t realize I had trained them that frequently haha. I did that one workout with the bb fella and then I was like “fuck that 150lb guy beating me” so I started basically training for his arm workout. Training for a workout… that’s kinda like Crossfit isn’t it…
actually is Crossfit

I weighed in at 195.5 this morning… whoops lol!

I didn’t eat or drink anything yesterday, because I was nervous about going there and weighing like 198.6 or something stupid. Anyway so far today I’ve had 2 egg mcmuffins, a bacon egg and cheese mcgriddle, two hashbrowns, a couple poptarts, a mountain of food at the Chinese buffet, and literally a gallon of gatorade.

Btw I assume Jesse was the one weighing everybody in? He was really nice.

Meet Writeup: (video to come later)

Was very nervous, but thanks to my training partners and some other folks I knew at the meet the whole experience went probably as smoothly as a first meet could possibly go.

The lifts had to be in kilograms, so it made my numbers a little weird.

Squat:
Warmups felt good.
One of my training partners was impeccable with his knee wrap timing so that he finished wrapping exactly when I needed to go. Also the wraps were very good. Super thankful for that.
172.5kg - 380.3lbs Good lift.
187.5kg - 402.3lbs Good lift.
192.5kg - 424.4lbs Good lift. PR

This is probably a terrible attitude to have, but going in I honestly didn’t think I would get all three of my squats lol. But I managed to not fuck up for 15 seconds as Kirk Karwoski would say.

Bench:
Finished my warmups like 20 minutes early. They waited an inexplicably long time to start lifting after the bench was all set up. Who knows.
130.0kg - 286.6lbs No lift. Red lighted for feet touching the bench. My feet were tucked under me and close enough together that my heels were in contact with the bar underneath the bench itself. I had no idea that was even a rule, so I was a bit thrown off.
140.0kg - 308.6lbs Good lift. I went up in weight anyway, but not as much as I had planned. I was going to make somewhere around 315 my second attempt, but I was pretty psyched out by missing my opener, so I just took this.
150.0kg - 330.7lbs No lift. Just too weak to do that today. I could blame it on messing with my foot position or having my attempts changed up unexpectedly or whatever. I dunno it just wasn’t there. I’ve done more than that in training, and I was pretty disappointed.

Deadlift:
Warmups were fine.
207.5kg - 457.5lbs Good lift.
227.5kg - 501.6lbs Good lift.
237.5kg - 523.6lbs No lift. I did lock it out, but I hitched it, although it wasn’t a very bad hitch at all. I’m not super disappointed in the deadlift; my deadlift training hasn’t been good for a long time leading up to the meet, so I was okay that I at least got something over 5.

So my total was 560kg or 1234.59lbs (I think I’ll just give away that last .09lbs so I can say I totaled 1234.5).

The meet was very well run. I had a really great time. Everyone there was quite friendly. There were some very strong guys there too. One dude (I just called him “Spikey Hair Guy”) totaled about 1650 raw at 198. There was also this old man in his 60’s who did a full meet, and actually lifted legit amounts of weight. He looked kinda hunched and frail, but he had like a four hundred something deadlift!

The judging at this meet was TIGHT. Very strict calls, which is cool. One of the judges was Joe Ladnier. He’s still jacked as absolute hell.

I’m certainly glad to have finally done a meet. I didn’t really like training up to it at all, but I loved the actual meet itself. I’m excited now that I get to go back to training as hard as I want without having to worry about tapering or dialing back or whatever. I do think I’d like to do another one. One of my training partners (the guy who did my knee wraps and stuff) filmed everything. He’s going to edit together the video and send it to me, so as soon as he does I’ll put it up here.

And thanks everyone for the well wishes!

Also I forgot to say they were handing out Gimli’s walking axes for 1st and 2nd place in weight classes. I got third in the 198 raw open so I got some eagle trophy thing instead (almost everyone get’s a fucking trophy at these things lol cuz there’s so many damn divisions). Spikey Hair Guy got first place in the division by a mile. Second place was this older ex-marine badass dude who totaled like 1500 or something. So I was a pretty distant third lol, but there were a bunch of lifters in the 198’s so I at least got to actually beat a few people. I was kinda bummed I didn’t get an axe; gotta be said. One 50 some year old dude won like fucking 3 or 4 axes cuz he entered multiple divisions. You can’t even wield that many axes at once.

OH I am so proud of you bro!! I can’t wait to see the videos!

Dude I’m very happy for you! You did a good job and I can’t wait to see the video. By the way, that axe reward is the most random but fucking hilarious reward possible! I’d fucking shit banana muffins if that was a reward at my contest.

Here’s the vid!

My friend set it to a song that we always make fun of in the gym lol.

/sigh

Maybe next year :\

Great job, m8. Glad to see your first meet went well.

Thanks everyone!

you killed it, awesome total, especially considering it was your first meet so things didn’t go perfectly
1234.5 lbs is a good omen as well : )
