That pretty much describes every sunday night for me. except in reverse order, with copious amounts of rum and coke. (cue song “i drink alone”)
Haha. Same here, except I download all those shows as I cbf paying for the required channel.
P.S. give me your bench strength.

If only I had other kinds of strength too…

4/15/2013

Squat:
45 10x
135 10x
225 5x
275 5x
315 1x
340 5x
340 5x These were harder than they should have been. Perhaps some of it was how slick my back was, even with chalk. It was hot as fuck in the gym. Next time I think I’ll get the actual Texas squat bar which has knurling in the center where it rests on your back instead of being smooth there like most bars.

Paused Squats:
290 5x
290 5x

Leg Press:
3 or 4 sets of 10 just kinda pumping blood

Lunges:
One trip down and back across the gym floor with 115 on the back. These are starting to get a bit wonky.

Deadbench from ~1 board height:
warmups
275 5x
275 5x like I said last time, a pretty tough exercise for me. I’m probably rather weak in the chest to one board range.

Leg Crap Circuit:
3 sets of 15 on leg curls, good girls, and bad girls run as a circuit.

Also I bought an ab wheel lol. So now I’ll actually do abs. I’ll add that in to the shit I sometimes do at home pretty much every day which includes sets of 20 average band pushdowns, sets of 20 mini band pullaparts, sets of 10 full lateral raises where you bring the weight up over your head, and sometimes light curls. The full lateral raises (or whatever the fuck you call them) I’m hoping will facilitate my quest for improved shoulder mobility. My shoulders are probably like impinged in such a way as to make overhead pressing virtually impossible. Hopefully not for long.

4/17/2013

Bench:
45 20x
95 20x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
255 5x
280 5x all paused
280 5x all paused

Close Grip Bench:
250 5x all paused
250 5x all paused

Incline:
225 5x
225 5x

Dips:
+90lbs 9x (pretend I did this 10x)
+90lbs 10x
+45lbs 20x

Overhead DB Tricep Extension:
75lbs 15x
75lbs 15x
75lbs 15x

Band Pushdowns:
miniband 150x

Cable Flys:
2 sets of 15

Felt great today. All the pressing was very easy. It’s tempting to do some kind of bench specialist training template like Spoto or someone does lol. Even though bench is my strong point already relative to the other lifts; it would be really fun to take my bench from decent in the 198’s to actually quite good. But obviously my squat and deadlift are what need the most work.

Fuckin Dollywood OMG!!! They’ve actually got several sick ass roller coasters there now. I mean like seriously big, fast, legit ones. It’s a blast. It’s like an Appalachian poverty themed Disney World.

Also Knoxville is a good place to go eat. We have an amazingly high number of restaurants per capita.

We have quite a large zoo. It was the first zoo to breed an African elephant in the western hemisphere. There’s an African elephant there now that weighs 15000lbs, which is enormous even for an African elephant. Also all of the elephants can paint pictures. One of the best places for white rhinos as well. Also we have had the most red pandas of any zoo in the world except one in the Netherlands. We’re all about red pandas.

I would mention that we also have the third largest stadium in the United States, but all you can do there these days is watch the Vols get their asses beat.
That is very cool to hear!! I am all about zoo’s, bro! In edmonton we have the worst zoo EVAHH. We had a huge pen with guinea pigs (that they actually used to feed the snakes) and that was like the highlight of the zoo, HAHA.

Emu’ though, we had fucking emu’s…

4/19/2013

Deadlift:
245 5x The gym just got brand new 100lb plates, so I had to play with them
335 5x
425 1x
460 2x

Deficit Deadlifts: (bout 4 inch defecit)
335 5x
335 5x
335 5x Did all of these sets beltless.

Atlas Stones:
240lb stone for 3 reps

Chest Supported Rows:
3 plates 10x
4 plates 5x
5 plates 5x
6 plates 2x Just checking…
5 plates 5x

V-Bar Cable Rows:
3 sets of 20

I’m a big bitch about doing barbell or dumbbell rows. It’s gotta be said. I dunno why I just hate em.

4/20/2013

Behind the Neck Press:
45 10x
95 5x
135 5x
155 5x
155 5x

Extra Wide Grip Bench:
245 5x all paused
245 5x all paused

Dips:
+90lbs 10x For some reason I was experiencing an extreme amount of pain in my right bicep doing these.
+90lbs 10x
BW 20x Had to give up pretty much. Dunno why these hurt so badly today.

Skull Crushers: I did these with a standard 45lb straight bar instead of the EZ bar
45 10x
95 10x
105 5x
115 5x
135 5x I decided to stop beating around the bush and just do what I wanted to try. I’m doing all my skullcrushers like this from now on. It looks so much cooler having a regular bar with a plate on each side doin skullcrushers. Gotta work up to 2 plates now.

Average Band Pushdowns:
3 sets of 20

Went home and did some biceps, abs, and finished up triceps a bit.

How do you like the stones? (vid unrelated)

Lol vid.

I am loving the stone. Nothing better for the traps imo. The second part of the movement is basically an upright row/high pull type deal. Also feels good for building “brute strength” throughout the back if you know what I mean. Even if I didn’t want to get into strongman I think I’d keep it as a powerlifting accessory.

You going to do a meet any time soon?
HeavyTriple wrote:

First one June 14!

Only real goal is to do it and be able to say I’m a powerlifter, but I would like to try and crack 1300.

I agree except everything feels good for my traps

Anyway, feels good to know we’ll both be competing for the first time soon.

Cracked the fuck up at the big Z moth… Did you make that yourself?

4/22/2013

My company hosted a charity golf tournament yesterday. I was wearing cargo shorts and a polo shirt. I decided to just head straight to the gym afterwards in my shorts and undershirt. What follows is the account of how I destroyed my only pair of non-athletic shorts.

Squat:
45 10x
135 5x Major shorts blowout. They were pretty loose; I didn’t think it’d be an issue.
225 5x Rip gets bigger. I figured after the first rip they’d be done.
275 5x Somehow rips even more.
315 3x The tear now goes from the waist all the way down to the bottom of the shorts. They’re held on by a couple seams.
355 5x Guess it was finally done ripping lol. They look like the hulk’s shorts now.
355 5x

Leg Press:
4 sets of 10

Floor Press:
45 10x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
275 3x
315 3x
315 3x
315 4x

Bad Girl Machine:
3 sets of 15

The good girl machine was broken :expressionless:

Leg Curls:
2 sets of 15
last set of 20

Also squatting yesterday really hurt my biceps. Maybe I’ll lay off them for a while and not do any direct bicep work I dunno.

ROFL, you just note the condition of the shorts each set HAHAAHA. Once, I squatted in pajama pants and they were the cheap kind that doesn’t have flex in it, and I just blew like a 8 inch hole in the crotch. I remember then sleeping in them nights and nights after the incident and I’d feel the hole getting bigger in the midst of my sleepy-toss-turny moments where you can recall shit vaguely, you know? That fucking hole dude…I remember moving in a position and my leg somehow got all the way up into the hole and I fucking leg extension’d the hole and pushed down and it torn the whole fucking pants into a rag. I woke up and had like a creepy long skirt that your elementary school teacher wears where it splits up the sides and reveals the side of your leg.

Also, why do squats hurt your biceps?
strongmanvinny wrote:

Good question. Could be I’m too infatuated with bicep tears. I’m always thinking about my biceps snapping doing something. You know virtually 100% of strongmen have torn one or both of their biceps? I’m sure you do given that you do it yourself. Maybe I’m sending too many negative vibes into my bicep tendons. I need to get into some crazy energy qi focusing shit. Then I could send positive energy into my biceps and maybe they’d feel great. Also maybe I could go super saiyan.
