I love paused squats. For a while I hit my main sets for the day, then dropped the weight 10kg and hit the same reps paused, and now I have no problems getting out of the hole. Great for working on form and tightness as well.

well, as long as you aren’t back to 2x a day training !!! Did you start carbloading prior to heavy training days now?
When’s the strongmen/women training start? Who’s thinking of doing it?
If I wasn’t sooooo short I’d love to try, but would yoke go small enough for me and I don’t know how I’d load a stone to some of those platforms, lol
Chia, Eric, Steve, and I want to try some. Gary said he’d go in on a strongman log with us as well. Pitbull Strongman Equipment makes a 12" log for only like 175 bucks; apparently very highly recommended for quality as well. Robb said he wanted to make some platforms for the stones as well (maybe he’ll make a Vikki sized one?). I also could have sworn that the gym had a yoke at one point. Everyone else thinks I’m crazy. Anyway you’re right, strongman/strongwoman contests are designed for tall people with huge hands lol!
I’m not going to get into any of that obviously until after I compete in powerlifting, possibly a couple times.
I do feel much better backloading the day before training as well thankfully! I’m still not totally sold on the diet though. I’m wondering if I could get the hang of a more conventional diet to accomplish the same thing. Carb backloading seems a little rough for your body to adjust to no matter how you do it.
I’m a keen diet-tweaker and was on CBL for a time. Didn’t like it. My current approach of simply eating to maintanence, lots of whole foods, under 100g carbs on non training days and eating all carbs within >2 hours< of training seems to help me get stronger while staying leanish.
What is your actual goal with the diet?
P.S brutal bench pressing as usual. I hate you.

Goal was not to lose weight; only to help me build more strength by having a better diet and slowly leaning out just a little bit while maintaining bodyweight so that I would be a more efficient powerlifter in the 198 class.

Hahaha awesome. I’ll video em next time. Is holding things out to your sides still a strongman event? Maybe I could actually do that one.
I’m LOLing hard at that gif, and the internet very rarely makes me lol.
I can lateral raise the 50s pretty strictly, but I think that’s because I’ve been doing them for a while. My OHP is probably barely over 135. I think I’ll focus on BTN military and DB presses so my delts get juicy.
Oops this is your log, and is about powerlifting…
Honestly, I haven’t any idea what I can lateral raise. When it comes to assistance I just pick stuff up and maybe put it down later. I’ve even used cat liter tubs with the handle for bicep curls, and 4 gallons of milk per hand for grip work. They call me Vinny Vicegrips.
I’ll have to check my log, maybe I’ve lateral raises 90’s.

Hey, slow down there, old friend. You say people are talking about your lateral raises down at the local golds? I find that hard to believe, because I train at that gym and everyone I know is talking about my lateral raises…
Side laterals seated
40x10
Straight from my log^ TOP THAT FRY!

Alright that does it! Officially adding max set of 10 to the odd lifts competition I will one day put on.
4/8/2013
Squat:
45 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 5x
So I got some Inzer 2m knee wraps a little while back and I’ve never used em. I didn’t need them today, and doing a set of 8 isn’t really the ideal kind of set for trying out knee wraps, but I just really wanted to see what they were like. I need to get used to them well in advance of the meet in June.
315 1x
First rep ever done with knee wraps. Hardest 315 of my life. Squatting the weight itself was a joke, but all the crap before hand was hard! I fucked up rolling the knee wraps like 4 times, then I fucked up wrapping my knee like 3 times and of course had to re-roll every time and then I got them on (probably the shittiest wrap ever) and I was getting my belt on and my wrist wraps on and my legs were being like strangled and then I go to get the bar and my back is slick as a slipnslide cuz of all the sweat so then I have to rush over and get chalk all over my back and finally come back as squat 315 really easily for one rep. Honestly I don’t know how geared lifters do it. Even adding simple knee wraps turned the lift into a whole fucking event.
330 8x
This was my only work set on squats for the day. Felt easy; could have had 10. Even the shitty, loose knee wrap job makes things a lot easier lol. I’d like to train with knee wraps more often though, because Eric Lilliebridge said so.
Paused Squats: (obviously without the wraps lol)
285 5x
285 5x
Leg Press:
Did a couple light sets of 20
Walking Lunges:
95lbs for a couple trips down and back the gym floor.
Did a superset of leg curls, hip abductor, and hip adductor.
3 sets of 15 on each
Deadbench: (Pins set at about a 1 board height)
45 10x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
275 5x
275 5x Man these are actually really fuckin hard. Like I said last time, gonna practice these, because they feel like a weakness.
Powerlifting’s a lot more fun when you actually enjoy squatting. Never thought I would like doing squats. Now I am wishing I was back to squatting 2 or 3 times a week like I used to! I was planning to run Smolov after the meet anyhow.
LMAO too bad you didn’t video the knee wrap ordeal. Just reading that shit had me giggling. Were you always planning on using wraps at the meet? If so, or regardless, what do you think you’re getting out of those wraps?

Honestly no idea what I’ll get out of the wraps. In fact you’re right I wasn’t even necessarily planning on using wraps originally, but they’re allowed so I figured what the hell? Also like I said earlier the Lilliebridges feel like knee wraps are the best thing ever for protecting your knees and keeping them healthy.

40 10x Lol, okay Vinny wins. These were decent, but not the best form.

3 sets of 15
DB Overhead Triceps:
85 10x
85 10x
85 10x
Light Band Pushdowns:
like 5 sets of between 25 and 40
Diamond Pushups:
4 sets of 20
Nice benching dude. I had to try really hard to refrain from using a reaction gif regarding your short changed lateral raises. I’ll keep the volcano dormant so that when I DO use a gif, it just BLOWS UP!
Anywho, should be interesting seeing how your next session goes with wraps on squats. Maybe you’ll really get a notch up on your total potential. Also, I think Eric Lillieoverpass has a good point on knee wraps being therapeutic but I also stand firmly behind the idea that your knees should work, for as long as they can, without some kind of crutch. I realize the knee wraps aren’t necessarily a crutch if you’re just squatting maximal weights with them, but I believe it may be deleterious to your wrapless squatting if you were to try to squat heavy again without them. Maybe it’d be best to consider that you might want to stay totally raw until knee problems do arise.
But for now, WHEEEEEE!?
