Would You, Quintus? Would I?

HAHAHA! I have been there many, many times.

Nice, Csulli. I am hoping to hit around 970 to 1000-ish sometime in the summer as gym lift.

Bullshit Day:
3/16/2013

Axle Clean and Press:
115 5x
165 5x
185 2x
205 1x
215 failx I suck so much at these. My shoulders feel worthless from benching 3x a week, but even so, for fucks sake I need to learn to overhead press.

DB Overhead Press:
50’s 10x
75’s 10x

Axle Clean and Press again: (my friend called me back over and gave me some form tips after I rage quit)
185 4x That felt better actually. The form advice helped.

DB Rows:
115 10x
115 10x
115 10x

Barbell Curls:
45 10x
95 10x
135 5x
165 2x
135 5x
135 5x

Incline Hammer Curls:
35’s 10x
35’s 10x
35’s 10x

Farmers Walk with a 315lb rig:
Went down the parking lot and made it 75% of the way back before I dropped, then repicked and finished.
Did it two more times just going one way.

Kettlebell Swings:
90lbs 10x
90lbs 10x
90lbs 10x
90lbs 10x
90lbs 10x

Tire Flips:
Did maybe 10 total reps over the course of a little while. Just sort of messing around.

3/18/2013

So here’s the deal. The meet I want to do is 14 weeks out, so with a deload/week off that’s 13 training weeks. I plan on using about a 9 week peaking cycle, so I’m left with 3 or 4 weeks to play with right now. I want to do a mini peak and test some heavy singles in the gym like I said. So I’m just gonna do a week of 5’s, a week of 3’s, and a week of 1’s. Came up with that all by myself.

Squat:
45 10x
135 10x
225 5x
315 5x That was way too easy. I shoulda gone higher.

Leg Press:
5 sets of 10

Hyperextensions:
5 sets of 20

240lb Atlas Stone:
Did about 5 reps over the course of several minutes. Nothing too intense pace wise. The weight felt pleasantly easy though.

CG Bench:
45 20x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x

Close Grip Bench (inch outside the smooth) off a 3 board:
275 5x
315 3x
345 3x
315 6x

Wow board pressing is easy.

lol I love this log. “My balls were writing checks my body couldn’t cash” hahahahaha. I wrote that one down.

Lol thanks, I had forgotten about that.

3/20/2013

Bench: (all touch and go; I’m taking a break from pauses)
45 20x
95 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 5x
310 3x This was a misload. My intention was to do 290 for 3, so this kinda messed me up a bit.
315 5x Form was not good on these. I guess I wasn’t feeling the best on bench, and I let my form slide for the sake of getting all the reps, cuz I really wanted 5. Butt came off some and I was hitting my chest too hard.
310 4x These were very strict. Not paused, but you know.

Pullups:
5 sets of 10

Dips:
+45lbs 10x
+90lbs 10x
+45lbs 20x PR? I dunno.

One Arm Fat Grip DB Clean and Press:
90 1x each arm
105 1x each arm
110 1x each arm
115 only got the right; left arm was close.

Football Bar Press on Steep Incline Bench (almost a seated OHP):
135 10x
135 10x
135 10x
May have been 145 or 155 or something I dunno. I can’t remember how much that bar actually weighs.

So I’m kinda happy about 315 5x, but on the other hand I’m pretty disappointed that I didn’t do it with better form. I see videos of powerlifters with smaller arms and much, much smaller chests benching as much or more than me. It is really annoying, and I don’t understand it.

I like the strongman shit. 250 on that axle shouldn’t be a problem if you can acclimate yourself to overhead pressing. I think the constant benching really makes it hard to find a groove with overhead.

165X2 barbell curl… Holy shit, those must either be some big biceps or one sore back xD.

back is involved no matter what you do

Hyper extension of the back I had meant, Spartee, but yes the back is involved in essentially everything.

I know what you meant

Yeah they weren’t strict. I forgot to command my biceps to grow though, so all in all it was a complete waste of a workout.

I think it’s time we do a curl off. Max 1 rep all out go big or go home. DYEP.

Lol, max reverse grip hang clean.

LOL, use straps too. Incoming 225lb ‘curl’. SRS though, I’m eager to see what I can semi-strict curl. I think when I bodybuilded back in my high school bro days I was able to do 135x10-15 reps and had several failed attempts at a 185 strict curl. My biceps are fucking crazy. I don’t train them anymore obviously but good god do they grow fast.

My wrists won’t let me curl heavy. Hopefully forearm work will help.

your log:
M-F: “30 mins pause benching 30 mins squatting 30 mins deadlifting 30 mins benching”

I know that feel. I can’t curl for shit unless I start off with hammer/pinwheel curls, and even then I can’t use a bar and sometimes not even an ez bar. D:

Wrist wraps bro. You have them in your avi.

In all seriousness though biceps are a big deal in strongman so that’s good if you’ve got dat crazy bicep gene. Not trying to jinx you or anything, but those poor strongman competitors are all the time snappin their biceps off.
