Would You, Quintus? Would I?

Here’s the shirt I was talking about. BTW huge respect to anyone who can take a self back shot. That shit took me forever.

Haha. It took me a minute to get that one.

Nobody has really said anything about the log title. It’s from Gladiator remember? At the beginning battle when the barbarian Gauls won’t give up, and Quintus says “A people should know when they’re conquered.” And then Maximus says “Would you Quintus? Would I?”

So no, I don’t think you would.

And here I was thinking it must be from Shakespeare or something and not wanting to look stupid for asking which play

Sheiko Week 4 Day 1
2/11/2013

This was probably the hardest training day I’ve ever had. This was actually more squatting in a single session than even Smolov has you do.

Squat:
45 10x
135 5x
205 5x
245 4x
285 3x
285 3x
325 3x
325 3x
325 3x
325 3x
325 3x
345 2x
345 2x
345 2x This was pretty fucking brutal for me. My right knee feels like it’s getting fucked up also. I don’t fucking know how to squat, and maybe I never will.

Bench Press All Reps Paused:
45 10x
135 5x
185 5x
215 4x
250 3x
250 3x
290 3x
290 3x
290 3x
290 3x
290 3x I had to do this last set touch and go I’m disappointed to say. I’ve done 6 sets of 3 paused before at this weight, but like an idiot I torched my triceps the day before this workout, and it was just a bit too much. That’s what I get for putting off Saturday’s workout till Sunday. Triceps weren’t recovered enough to pause the last set. Oh well. BTW this is the first touch and go I’ve done in a month and it was silly how easy it was compared to pausing lol.

Squat:
135 5x
225 5x
245 4x
285 3x
285 3x
325 2x
325 2x
325 2x
325 2x Last set felt the best of all somehow.

Close Grip Floor Press: You’ve failed me for the last time triceps.
135 5x
225 5x
225 5x
225 7x

Pullups:
3 sets of 10

Hey friend!

I don’t think I “know” how to squat either. I have been squatting kind of against what some people are saying about the quads being the main moverand that type of thing.
I just sit down, not back, and I pause ALL of my reps for like 2 seconds and then I come up with complete control.
I find it has really helped my squat, doing this faster, rebound stuff made 97% of my reps really wonky and all over the place. Now all my reps feel the same. Doesn’t mean it’s “right” now, but things are staying tigher for sure.

JUST A THOUGHT BUT MY ADVICE IS TO BE TAKEN WITH A GRAIN OF SALT CAUSE I SQUAT LIKE 300LBS LESS THAN YOU

You know you’re right. I’ve never tried paused squats, and I think I should!

Yeah I remember reading that once upon a time. I can’t remember where though. It might have even been in the dusty archives of your training log lol. I await the day of its ressurection.

265 3x sumo
315 3x sumo
365 3x conventional
365 3x sumo
420 3x sumo So this was as heavy as I went today on sumo. Sumo stance felt good though. Maybe even too good…
420 3x conventional
445 2x conventional
445 2x conventional
445 2x conventional Tried to start with my hips lower so I didn’t round my lower back. A little better I guess.

Bench Press All Reps Paused:

I forgot you were also doing Sheiko. 1 day and a lot of weight ahead of me ;). Good shit! What is your next # cycle going to be?
Also, nice tank top.

I’m gonna do 30 next followed by 31. And I’m BARELY ahead on squat and dead lol. In fact I bet you’ll catch me and beat me on those soon. Bench is the only thing I can really do.

Super Bullshit Day:
2/15/2013

This log is about to get a little bit shittier. I had a stressful day at work, and I decided I was just gonna go to the gym and do whatever the fuck I wanted, which was to ego lift. So here you have it. I could tell you that I did trap bar deadlifts to help with my farmers walk pickups and car deadlifts for my future as a strongman, but the truth is I just wanted to bullshit myself into thinking I could lift more than I can.

Trap Bar Deadlifts:
135 5x
225 5x
315 5x
405 3x
495 1x at this point I ran out of room on the trap bar. I wrapped it with some chain to get past 495.
550 1x one of the guys showed me how to rig it up so I could have six plates per side held on by doubled light bands.
635 0x
635 0x
635 0x I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t do this, but then I added up the weight and chain and realized that I had just made a way bigger jump than I had intended. So I dropped back down.
585 1x
610 1x added half the chains back to get to 610. It wasn’t bad. I’m kinda pissed that I fucked up my weight jumps cuz I know I coulda gotten higher than this too.

Bench:
45 10x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x this felt like a million tons lol. I think my CNS was completely fried after all that bullshit before.
275 5x
315 4x heavy as it was feeling this is about all I expected.

Hyperextensions:
3 sets of 20

Pull-ups:
3 sets of 10

Well I at least felt nice picking up 600+ with no straps regardless of what bar it was. So next time you’re having a bad day, just hit the trap bar for a max single, get a pint of Chunky Monkey and some of your favorite adult beverage and you’re all set.

LOL good shit Fry

I dunno if eating a dairy product will help me when I am having a bad day :S it seems like it would just make me spend an XXtra 60 minutes on the crapper…

I like how your log is kinda like all over the place/bitching about bad workouts etc just like mine. Well I don’t LIKE like it, but I like that I am not alone in that.

:0

Oh pS you should go check out the new die hard, I saw it on IMAX and it was a real hoot.

John McLean dies at the end

AHHA FUCKING KIDDING OMG THose words felt so dirty being typed out of my fingers

Oh I saw it today naturally! I definitely think they are going to continue the series using Jai Courtney instead of Bruce Willis now.

:O!!! I thought the exact same thing!! I told my theory to my mommy, but she didn’t really buy it. It makes perfect sense, and here’s why:

He was all proud to be a McLean after, and calling himself john or whatever.
ALSO, he pushed that russian dude out of that building and he fell in slow motion just like at the end of die hard 1 which began the john Mclean legacy, it’s like he is contiuing the tradtion…
Of pushing bad guys out of buildings, LOL! What a family tradition!
I wished that the guy who fell out of the window yelled “McLEAN!!!”
LIke in the first movie, cause it was kinda like the same scene ya know? I was waiting for it.

Anyway, ya that’s all, ha-ha.
