At Beast, we are crushing the myth that women do not want to train with free weights.
People thought we were crazy when we said that women would find squatting empowering and liberating; well they are not laughing any more.
Even I thought introducing women to sand-bag training (shouldering heavy sandbags, cleaning heavy sandbags, and jerking them overhead) was a long-shot.
Now these same women are grabbing their lame boyfriends, by the seat of the pants, and throwing them out to the curb with the morning trash.

It doesn’t look to me like that girl in the vid is hitting depth in her squats . . .
Of course, I’m an elitist snob about such things.[/quote]

Agreed. I am happy she is getting under the bar and not afraid of some heavier weight… but for someone who is healthy/injury-free… hitting depth is a must in my book. =D
It still makes me laugh when I walk into the squat rack and use it as the Iron Gods intended. The big boys in the gym know me and are very supportive but the little sparrow leg trainers look on with a mixture of disbelief and disgust. I hear them thinking “Where the hell is that girls’ bosu ball?”. I think perhaps I’m fortunate because I know several women who regularly pay their dues under a heavy barbell, and look frikkin’ sexy for it. It certainly helps to have like minded women in your world.
It’s a nice start but I have to also chime in with the need to hit depth. I can’t say too much because I’m pretty certain all my squats were high until I started training with a club but since you are there to spot and train, get her deeper

Beast Training is for both men and women; it has kind of a hard feel to it, which is by design, and we were afraid it would scare some women away, but so far quite the opposite has been true. Thanks for the kind words and I appreciate the feedback. Love those powerful women! Erik
A “typical” Sunday evening at Beast. No Prowler flu (but I’m told it was close). Great effort after a full workout: Squats, Bulgarian Split Squats, Bench Press, TRX Rows, assisted Chin Ups, and Curls. Great Effort!!!
As for those “snobs” out there talking about not hitting depth, I think you have it all wrong; as a football player and a gym rat, and being 6’7, 340 lbs (35" inseam), going parallel or deeper on squats is useless! Going that deep is cool for short people but for me they hurt (can you say knee injury?). I squat (properly 650lbs) it hurts at the knees…even if I did 255 deep it hurts at the knees (and I have never had any issue with knee problems playing football) so I think you should be thankful you have shorter legs, I promise you those who are taller are not squatting as deep as someone shorter (physics). Back In the day for those who are old school, remember the name of Sergio Olivia. He was the master of partial movements and had many people like Arnold thinking he was a joke, his body was ahead of its time. I would be cautious [snobs] when criticzing; get the whole picture…
