Why I Don't Want to Bench 405

The first person to rip a stop sign out of the ground wins this debate/bitchfest.

Yes I believe she had her Bachelors in Pharmacy already when she started doing the PharmD.

So it took her 4 years to take an extra year of coursework (if she’d gone back to school full-time), but that’s not ‘doctor’ enough for you? It was so important for her she was willing to give up 4 years of weekends to get it, and you can’t even respect that enough to give her one smidge of respect for her sacrifice. Classy guy you are.

Bizarre. She already had taken 5.5 or 6 years of coursework to get the old R.Ph. degree, goes 4 years extra on the weekends to get her clinicals for her PharmD, but that is a “joke”. Yeah.

Look I already apologized. I should have not been so insensitive. However the point I was getting at, which did apply in her case, is that most people that I know who did PhD’s( which are different as was stated above) do the 4 or 5 years of undergrad plus 5-8 years (upper end is usually for Social Science PhD’s) of balls to the wall 6-7 days a week post graduate work with a number of make it or break tests along the way. Now I don’t know about the other clinical doctorates stated above (OD,etc), but I do know many MD’s and know that they have a similar path. No person going to any medical school worth anything is going on the weekend and most MD’s to be which I hung out with studied almost 24-7 7 days a week.

But once again, I should not have been so judgmental and I apologize to anybody I might have offended.

Brook, at the risk of one of the illiterate morons here thinking i am “calling you out” you sound very knowledgeable and serious with training and diet. if you dont mind me asking, what kind of numbers are you putting up? cos based on your profile you also sound like a big dude.

Why oh why do you care ?

Really man you have populated the forum with multiple threads “calling people out” or whatever you think it is

I don’t get it why would you care who puts up what numbers, what the multiple threads you created not enough ?

Everyone who got big did the exact same things:

  1. Ate more food than needed.

  2. Trained consistently

  3. Did the above 2 for for multiple multiple years

And thats all there ever is to it, simple as.

See i summed up bodybuilding into 3 simple tasks.

you are an illiterate moron.

Bantam,

Of course, it’s great that you keep very busy and manage to keep up high activity levels, spend time with the family, and hold down a job. Who wouldn’t respect that?

I HIGHLY disagree with your statement that being hard-driven is inborn. From the ages of 15 to 24, I was not hard-driven or super-disciplined. I wasn’t lazy either, just a more laid-back guy in regard to doing shit and fulfilling goals.

This guy here made this thread to say he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about benching 400 lbs. Why he chose to say this to all of us – I don’t know. But I have nothing wrong with what he says. There are men on here who have alluded that others shouldn’t post on here and engage in discussion on building one’s body UNLESS they’re “gunnin’ for tree-hunnit lbs”, following a 5-way split, and eating 5,000 kcal per day. I respect both parties equally. Some guys really, really care about being huge and are willing to sacrifice to do so. Others don’t give a shit because such sacrifice yields little reward for them: they don’t give a shit about being the biggest guy on the block! And this is reasonably so, since most men WON’T get rewarded for being HUGE; they won’t win a contest, make dough, or get chics from being HUGE! [/quote]

“gunnin’ for tree-hunnit lbs”
And which poster writes or talks likes this? There is no reward for being huge other than enjoying the feeling of accomplishment. If the OP had been more secure in his reasons, he would not have posted about it.

He is secure in his reasons. He flat out doesn’t give a shit about benchin’ faw-hunnit lbs! He really doesn’t. What’s so insecure about that?

I was using 405lbs for my 5 boards today, I thought of this thread on the ride home, and lol’d

He didn’t keep those reasons to himself. When someone truly doesn’t give a shit, they don’t bother to let anyone else know. Anyway it’s no big deal because the reasons he stated did at least make sense.

Thanks Freud!

I’ve let quite a few people know what I think and was quite secure on the topics at hand. For example, I’m eating oatmeal now and I’m letting you know this. I feel quite secure in eating oatmeal; I don’t feel ashamed of it. There are probably thousands of things I don’t give a shit about: voting, sports on TV, celebrity gossip, high-end fashion, video games, Blackberries
 and so on
and so on. I really don’t give a shit about these things, I’m secure with doing so, AND I share this with you.

Yeah, but you don’t go on forums dedicated to those things talking about how you don’t give a shit about them.

If you can’t see the difference you’re a moron.

I benched 415 on Monday do I get a prize?

Fair to say you no longer want to bench 405?

Buddy, most of the world isn’t losing sleep over not being HUUUUGE and gunnin’ for tree-hunnit lbs!

I’m certain the guy isn’t feeling insecure because he doesn’t bench 4-hunnit. There are a whole lot of other things that people worry about, especially these days.

This is not the first time brick has come into a thread sticking up for the general fitness crowd with flawed reasoning.

The funny thing is, I actually agree with him. I’m aware being huge is not a priority for everyone. If it’s not, just go to another damn website that isn’t for bodybuilding. For some reason, he doesn’t get this.
