jsshane,
When you’ve been around a couple years then you can complain or make “thoughtful insights”.
Douchebag.

Well, you know me. I’m trying to stay in the top 10 posters category. I think if they counted all my old posts before the forum was redesigned, I would be in the top 5 now! ![]()
Hey Chris Shugart, who are the top 10 posters on the forum now??? LOL!
Anyway, back to flaming. There are people on here who troll…they deserve any and all flaming.
There are people here who don’t read the articles and don’t follow the advice they are given…they deserve any and all flaming.
There are also people here that seem to only respond to posts in the hopes of flaming someone and not offer any valuable advice…they deserve any and all flaming.
I agree that valuable advice should always be given first (unless the poster/thread starter is a complete idiot and raises a red flag for trolling or being so freakin’ lazy to not do a simple search).
I’ve been on the forums a long time, and there are some days when I will flame someone because they ask a very simple question that they could have found an answer for by a quick search. In fact, it’s usually a question that gets asked every other week or so. But in most cases, I take my time to give a valuable and honest response. Like it or not. And I remember a few threads where I was getting pissed because I gave great advice, but the poster just didn’t seem to “get it.”
Some people need tough love or a little flaming to get them on their way. But flaming for the sake of flaming (or just trying to be funny and not have anyone get the joke) isn’t needed.
Flamers.

Good luck!
I think Nate gives some of the most honest and constructive feedback on this site. Not just want people want to hear, but what you can do to make improvements. Just my two cents.
Awww…thanks! I have a fan!!!
C’mon kids, come join Nate Dogg’s fan club!
Nate -
I have you by a little over 600 posts in the ‘modern era’.

Well, I’m with the crowd that feels that sometimes people need a good kick in the pants to figure out that they are on the wrong track.
That isn’t where you start, but when they dismiss advice from advanced folks and are simply looking for validation, that is where they end up.
It’s the real world.
So, when people ask questions around here, they get honest answers. Sometimes they don’t like what they hear and things degenerate from there. So what? We aren’t here, on the site or on the planet, to try to make sure everyone is happy at all times.
It’s the Internet, relax!
At the same time, yes, there are folks that simply like to start out flaming away whenever the opportunity presents itself, and perhaps they could tone down the attitude a bit.
I agree with jsshane to a degree and with you vroom to a degree I think different opinions are why I like the forum .If I only liked people that were like me I would have no one to communicate with.
But I think what js is saying is that a lot of time some people are rude with no reason or even benefit.
Sigh.
Tough love motivates you. Nothing gets you going like some sweet chin music.
I was recruited for GW Crew when the head coach had to leave for a new job. The incoming coach simply looked at me and told me I didn’t have “endurance potential”.
Am I still crying about it? No. I’m racing in Ironman.
Hey Pitbull,
You definitely got what I said in that sometimes people are rude with no reason or even benefit. But, I do think that T-Nation gives a great forum for people to give feedback, share knowledge, and sometimes tell people to do some thinking for themselves.
A lot of what has been said on this topic has merit to it. There are definitely posters who put up a topic with a question that could easily be answered by doing a bit of searching on this site. And, even though I have seen some of them get some direct comments telling them so the responder normally ends up posting a link for them to check out as well.
I guess it goes to the fact that this site is T-Nation and there deserves to be some of a no bull-shit approach of saying things (within reason which by and far is normally the case).

It’s nice to know that someone that has a whopping 12 posts and has been a member here since way back in December of '04 has given his blessing of sorts on how we do things areound here.
What the FUCK!!!???

So, with all due respect why bring it up to begin with if this is the way you feel??? Especially if you’re brand new and have contributed jack shit other than telling folks (who now aren’t as bad as originally advertised) that flaming is bad?
Seems to me that it’s a non issue.
Have a great weekend…
GAINER… Out.
jsshane, two things…
1)define “flaming”
2)link us to at least three T-Nation threads were flaming is prevalent.

All I have to say is…
There are three kinds of people in this world, Dicks, Pussies and Assholes.
We all fit into one category. Which one are you?
