Title says it all. I see a lot of discussions on this sort of thing, but I’d like to hear first hand from anyone who posts here ( as I read here this forum a few times a day), who has had success with shrinking their gear. I’ve gone from high 210s to mid 190s in the last month or so, and my Metal V-type squatter is huge on me. It even fit kinda loosely before. I’m not looking to get a new suit right now, and I’d like to keep training in this one. So, who has had success with shrinking their gear? And how did you do it?
I’ve shrunk a Metal V-type, a Titan F6, and a Katana. The suit shrank so much that I couldn’t wear it. I ended up selling it to a guy in my weight class who is a little smaller than me and he did well with it, saying it wasn’t like a new one, but still pretty springy.
I got a year’s worth of extra use out of my stretched out F6 by shrinking it every few weeks, and I recently shrunk a used Katana and it pops only slightly less than my new one. All I did was soak them in cold water overnight and then hang them to dry. I should note though, that in all these instances I was staying in the same weight class and just needed to tighten things up. I’m not sure I could shrink anything enough to drop a class and still wear it.
I wouldn’t shrink, instead have it taken in/altered. Shrinking could go the wrong way.

Agree with this. I’ve had my Metal Briefs and Shirt altered a few times, this is a much better option than trying to shrink it.
Did you guys send your stuff away ( to Ginny or something) or find someone local to do it?
You can do a suit yourself without too much difficulty.
Ouroboro is right. Tightening a suit is quite simple. Turn it inside out and sew along the seam. Take as much as you want from the outside seam. I have only ever taken in the hips but I don’t see why you wouldn’t do the exact same thing to the legs.

I’ve had friends send their stuff away to Ginny or Ame Rychlak for their canvas suits. For my briefs I just found a local tailor and it cost me 28 dollars. As other people have said, you might be able to do it yourself.
I have an in gym resource. Ginny works too, or hit up Ms O for details.
