No Tito Ortiz fans? Kinda surprised… I have no idea who the baddest is.
Tito is like a good college QB. He’s the product of a system. Get them down, up agaist the fence, elbow, elbow, elbow. Confronted with somebody better at the UFC style (Coture) he got beat. Confronted with someone that he couldn’t keep down (Chuck) he got beat. Tito won’t fight in Pride because he would be forced to be a complete fighter, not a UFC fighter.

GSP (George St. Pierre) will dominate soon he’ll steam roll his division just watch.
I love that Canadian bastard, but I think Matt Hughes will own the welterweights for as long as he wants.
Agree!

I’ll reiterate. Matt Hughes got demolished by BJ Penn. It wasn’t even close to being a battle. Penn took whatever position he wanted on the ground. Side control, mount, whatever. He owned that bastard. Owned I say.

how bout Kazushi Sakuraba? Nickname the “Gracie Hunter” (after successive victories over Royler, Royce, Renzo and Ryan).
Some say Gracie Hunter, I say Wanderlei’s bitch.

I’d roll with Bruce Lee
Although I always say that if they had a straightup streetfighting league, Mike Tyson would dominate. I have no respect for him as either a boxer or a man, but he is one tough mother.
He don’t rank to high IMO…and it has nothing to do with his warped personality.
The fighters mentioned here are quicker, more adept at using their feet and utilizing leverage. Tyson can throw punches, that’s it. And I doubt he has the power of many of the guys mentioned here. He would have a hard time even getting close to the MMA fighter. They would jab him off with quick kicks to the the thigh and body. He’d get arse kicked…imo
The last true warrior in the Heavy Weight ranks was Holeyfield, and no way in hell could he face most of the guys mentioned in the thread.
I am absolutely terrified of Bob Sapp. At 6ft 7 and close to 350 of muscle you couldn’t pay me enough to enter into a ring or cage with this guy. While certainly not the most skilled fighter in the world his sheer power is scary. Plus he seems to have been working on his conditioning. You can’t just run away for a minute, let him wear himself out, and come back and pick him apart. If he were to really buckle down, maybe starts with some submission wrestling… frightening

I agree with the statement about Holyfield, and I understand the severe differences between boxing and UFC. I dont want to defend Tyson in any way, as I really don’t like him. All I’m saying is that if you take these guys you are talking about (many of whom I respect very much) and put’em in a real life kind of situation, I think Tyson could be up there.
Also, power is the one thing that Tyson has that cannot be denied. There are few fighters of any kind that could deal with that uppercut (although it apparently is nowhere near as devastating as it once was).
To the guy who said he didn’t think Tyson has the power to hang. There isn’t anybody in any of these formats that can match Tysons raw power. That motherfucker is a stick of dynamite. Most people throw punches, he throws hammers. He is nowhere near what he used to be, and he can’t box for shit anymore but I’d say he still has arguablly the hardest right hand in fighting.

That’s my point. Amir Perret is striking to kill and mame. No gloves, no ropes, you could even give Tyson a knife or bat and Perret would still hurt or kill him. It’s what he trains for and his speed and power is incredible. I would be surprised if Perret could not come very close to matching Tyson’s power. Speaking of wich, when is the last time Tyson has showed he still has that kind of power?
He’s starting to look like he can’t take a punch too.

Even though he doesn’t compete anymore I would go with Rickson Gracie. With over 400 fights he has NEVER been defeated. (Do any of you remember Royce saying during a UFC interview he had a brother who could beat him in under 2 minutes?) Here’s a true story for you… In the early days at their southern Cali school Rickson got into an argument with brothers Royler, Royce, & i cant remember the others name! Rickson argued you could block a choke with no hands, & tied one hand behind his back while his three brothers attacked & attempted to prove him wrong. After ten minutes of fighting they still hadn’t got him to submit!
Until I see proof of 400 fights I don’t believe it. The gracies were good fighters, but they were also salesman and they tended to skew the facts. Until they step back in and face the best the UFC/Pride has to offer, they’re just yesterday’s news. They had a good system, but now everyone has it and they’re outdated.
