What is with all the non-manly men getting super hero roles?? I can live with the tiny Bruce Banners, and the nerdy Peter Parkers because that is what the charater is. But Capt. America is a man, and a old school salty WWII ass kicking, red white and blue bleeding bad ass… This guy is johnny f’ing metro…

Stone Cold Steve Austin would probably be a better fit.
Physically, yes. As far personality…nope. Austin doesn’t have the acting range for it.

And you can’t be a super soldier with knee braces.
Captain American doesnt beat his wife either. Save that shit for The Wasp/Hank Pym.
Btw,Wasnt Jon Hamm considered for the role of Cap.?
I’m looking forward to this movie. The hydra vehicles and soldiers remind me of hellboy and almost have a steam punk look to them. The avengers cartoon coming to Disney in October seems to have a hydra centric feel to them so I’m wondering if Thor will have hydra as a big bad. There is also a rumor of the invaders being in cap as well but I’ve read that it will be the real ones namor, torch, toro, buck, spitfire, and union jack; then I’ve also heard no namor and the invaders will be union jack with fury and the howling commandos. I don’t know i would get a kick out of seeing the original human torch and Chris Evans together. Also having namor in the film would be nice as he is the one who freed cap from suspended animation, and it was the second torch(also played by Evans) who fixed namor’s amnesia so it all could go full circle and the like
is it me or does anyone see jon hamm playing a decent capt america… grungier IMO… but the few episodes i’ve seen of madmen he does a pretty good job with the darker/more srs roles…
of course he’d have to put on some bulk and lighten his hair a bit…
i don’t think they should recycle actors to play multiple roles… it’d be like getting robert downey to play riddler
Mr. Smith as Red Skull? Thats awesome. He’s a good villain. I’m pumped for this movie I hope they do it as a pretty serious movie (ala Batman Begins and The Dark Knight)
The recent pics of Chris Evans as Cap plus Hugo Weaving as Red Skull give me great hope for that movie. I gotta admit I was quite underwhelmed when I heard about Evans being cast as Captain America, I would’ve like someone like Ryan Reynolds, but now I’m actually looking forward to this. And whoever said Weaving was the perfect cast for the Red Skull was so damn right!

What, when has Ryan Reynolds ever been a good actor?

Super hero serum, the Hulk, Iron Man. This movie will not and was never intended to be serious like the Batman movies. I hope they do it like Captain America, because that is what I and most fans want.

Strange as it may seem, there really was a “super soldier project” during WWII. Nazi doctors were said to have injected troops with early forms of steroids to increase aggression on the battlefield, and concentration camp inmates were used as guinea pigs in the development of AAS.
Steroids were also used to treat injuries on both sides, so there are seeds of realism there.
I was reading an article on Tron Legacy earlier today. One of the main characters is a ‘de-aged’ version of Jeff Bridges, who has existed in the virtual world since the original Tron, and can be seen in the trailer:
They created him by generating a digital model of Bridges’ head (based on photos and footage from the early '80s), allowed Jeff Bridges himself to control the model’s facial expressions through motion capture then superimposed the head onto the body of a younger actor.
The results are pretty convincing, and could be the the sort of tech they’d use to realize pre and post-serum Steve Rogers.
BTW, the guy playing Jeff Bridges’ son (Garrett Hedlund) was my first choice for Cap (he throws a mean disk).
As someone who has been reading ap since the mid 80’s and has a collection that stretches from issue 100(when they titled the book Captain America from Tales to Astonish) and goes to the present I’m not sure I’m feeling the film, my first beef the original Kirby costume is going to be treated like a joke. Really? Jack the King’s art made a joke? Also umm we where at war with Nazi Germany ot Hydra, the Red Skull is a protege of Hitler(Der Fuher) actually saying he could take a bellhop (Johann Smidtt) and make him more evil and more a bad ass than his own generals he was never part of Hydra, hell even in 60’s it was AIM that found the sleeping Red Skull and awoke him. I’ll still see the movie but the more I hear the less I like
