Who Is Captain America?

I have no problem with it. He seems like a competent actor, and he’ll put on some mass, I hope.

Although I didn’t care for the Fantastic Four movies, so I may be a little more partial to this than some.

I really don’t see how that’s an issue. The Fantastic Four movie universe he was part of is over and done with as it is apparently being rebooted(obviously…as that and sequels are all Hollywood is capable of making these days), and I’m pretty sure there was no planned connection between the CA/Avengers movie and the FF.
Reed Richards and gang are fairly prominent in the Marvel universe. With all of the movies they have planned, I would be greatly surprised if they never dive into the “Illuminati” of which Richards at least is a part of along with Stark.
They are revamping the Fantastic Four Movies with a new cast and a new direction. Guess they seen how much money you can make by not dumbing down a movie for kids (who are smarter than people think) and realized how many adults grew up with comics. So he will be free of the FF4. Will he make a Good Capt only time will tell.

Good. So we have one Hulk movie that we pretend was never made and two FF movies. If we can just get two of those Spiderman movies and that last X-Men movie to disappear from history, we just might be getting somewhere.

The FF movies SUCKED. How the hell do you put Jessica Alba in that kiddie shit? She was dark Angel for crying out loud.

Dwight K Schrute as Captain America?

I think the good people at Marvel learned a valuable lesson with those films. Kid-friendly is not where it’s at. The comics weren’t always kid-friendly, so why should the movies be? The last X-Men movie seemed extremely rushed. While I do own the dvd, I was disappointed. With the bar being raised as it has with Hulk and Iron Man, I’m expecting big things from Marvel. Let’s hope they don’t disappoint.

No need getting all up in arms about it. All anyone can do is wait and see.

look, we all know that reb brown is the real captain america.

You can say that again. If I hadn’t been trapped on a plane for 13 hours for both movies they would have been unwatchable.

Kurt Fucking Angle!!!

I’m more interested that they got Megatron/Elrond/Agent Smith as the currently rumored red skull. I’m pumped about that. Seems that Hugo Weaving is pretty underrated and unknown for having those roles!

Yep,all they have to do is paint him red…and voila!

Seriously,he damn near has the features already. Excellent choice.

Hmmm so we can tell so far from the Cast they are not going to have normal size people and boost up the costumes. I’m cool with that as long as they get the Acting/Character traits down. I don’t want a wise cracking CAPT. HMMMMM wonder who they have in mind for Thor?

Thor has been set for a while…in fact I think they started shooting in January.

That’s the guy who played Captain Kirk’s dad in opening scenes of Star Trek. He actually has a pretty decent build to put on some Thor-like mass.

I can live with there choice for Thor. So many people hope they pull it off

I really hope they keep Michael Chiklis as the Thing.

Where the Photoshopper’s at? Tweak the suit, slap on the mask and shield (though for some reason, I could see them updating the costume and ditching the mask), add 10-15 pounds of size (maybe). Ta-da.

According to Variety:

"Deal, which Evans’ reps are finalizing, calls for the actor to star in at least three “Captain America” movies, starting with “The First Avenger: Captain America,” which Marvel is set to invade theaters with on July 22, 2011. Paramount will distribute.

He also would reprise the role in “The Avengers,” which will unite Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton) in one pic. That film is skedded for May 4, 2012. The character also will likely make cameo appearances in Marvel’s other pics, to tie together the world Marvel has been creating starting with the first “Iron Man.”"

Things that make you go, hmmmm.

Funny.

An actor having a rather fit-looking and above-average muscular and lean physique is being bashed, mostly by people who don’t seem to have a serious training track record evidenced by photos/vids on this forum.

YOU PATHETIC WYRMS!

I guess Evans will do.

Anybody else think he looks a little to young to be captain America?

Youth could work in his favor. Steve Rogers was of an age to enlist in WW II just as the US was getting involved, and then within a few years (he never saw the end of that war) he was frozen in a block of ice. Chris Evans looks the age Steve SHOULD look when he’s revived by the Avengers. I agree that Evans has some serious acting chops–he was, after all, the most “right on” of the FF movie actors, in my opinion. As for the physique, he could easily put on some mass in the next 6-12 months.

But will he be able to pull of the gravitas of Cap when addressing Thor and Tony Stark? That will take some good writing AND acting, to portray that respect.
